  1. I'll get some footage up here soon, need to edit it because it has my address and stuff so i don't wanna post that on the interwebs lol. You will probably laugh your asses off when you see the frunk pop open. I never got out of first gear because it was getting late and i don't have the switch wired up for the headlights yet.
  2. Alright so... i got it out on the road. Got the fucker down to the culdesac and it died. Turns out the signal cable was rubbing up against one of the spark plug wires. Fixed that, fired right back up. Got it up and down the block multiple times. Finally got on it in first, hit a little swoop and the frunk pin popped and up came the hood. Zero damage, I wasn't even going fast (I never got out of 1st), so the only thing hurt was my pride. Got the hood back down and kept driving and enjoyed it. Throttle response is INCREDIBLE on itbs. Fires right up. Stops fantastic with the new brakes (and they aren't even boosted yet). Feels absolutely fantastic. Definitely needs an alignment, but aside from that? SO so so so good. Dirty as hell. Needs a bath
  3. Man, I'm tellin' ya, converting to a 4 line master was THE trick. Feels super solid. Can't wait to see how it is on the road. Everyone complains that the Jalpa brakes feel like crap but I don't think that'll be the case with this car.
  4. Brakes are bled, clutch is bled, and adjusted. Everything is tip top groovy. The DMV had a statewide outage today so i couldn't get the stuff to make her legal. We did have a few snags on bleeding, one of them had a funky flare which cracked, fixed that and reflared. Then the teflon seal for the pressure sensor i used wouldn't seal so I used tape instead, that fixed it. Everything is now solid as a rock. That brake pedal is absolutely perfect for how it feels. So tomorrow is all the little crap: - Get plates - adjust shifter linkage - Plop hub and rest of interior in - double check brake lights and test everything, double check bolts, fasteners, frame, leaks, etc. If that all checks out, I'll take it for a spin. Either way this feels crazy!
  5. Thanks guys! The clutch hydraulics were a bit.... odd... to deal with. The braided line originally came very very close to the headers, which I did not like. I've since sacrificed one of my Porsche hydraulics off my 931 which fit the slave cyl, lobbed the end off of a 1/4" brake line, and then used a union fitting. Basically I was able to take a longer line, pass that past the subframe, and past the starter, up and around and into the side of the slave. In the end, this made it clear the header better, which hopefully will be an improvement over the stock setup. As well, the brake lines were re-used to some degree. On the Jalpa, for some reason, the master went from one line in the front, splitting into a T at the back (behind the seats) and into the bottom and then back into each line. Same for the front. I split the T lines, used union fittings, and then ran new lines attached to each, to get the end result to the master, and clutch as well. The brake master is large, good diameter, and since it's now 4 line, should stop in a far better manner than the stock brakes, while still utilizing the original calipers and brake setup. The best part is that the booster AND master required no fabrication to make it fit to the box, only the actual rod from the booster needed minimal cut and welding to get it to an adjustable length that was where stock was. The clutch hydraulic is used off of a diablo, unlike the brake master which is not lamborghini at all. Very very tight fit for both together, as the lamborghini booster (which i believe was originally Alfa, modified by lamborghini) was spaced out further, and the one i am using now is the same diameter but closer to the pedal box. very very VERY little room to work on it, but totally doable. So long as the bleeding goes well tomorrow, and all the little things are addressed, should be good for the test drive.
  6. hydraulics are all rebuilt. calipers rebuilt and on the car. clutch hydraulics good to go. the new booster and master setup is installed, the extra lines are ran. i basically just split the lines at the T connectors, and then ran 2 extra lines for each T so it's now a 4 line, 4 outlet master setup. I've misplaced my euro adapter for the damn power bleeder. So someone will have to come over tomorrow and help me bleed it, unless I can find an adapter locally. I could potentially make one. Interior is pretty much all in. A few bits of glue are now drying so that I can finish one last piece of carpet. Headed to the dmv tomorrow to get plates, and then I need to button up and adjust a few things, double check ALL moving parts, suspension, all nuts and adapters and make sure I haven't overlooked anything. Late monday, or sometime tuesday should be first drive if I keep this pace up. The hard parts are out of the way.
  7. Probably threw it out the window or something during the massacre.
  8. I don't blame you. It's a lot to do. I appreciate the kind words.
  9. When you click retry too many times on the "Launch nuke" button STUPID BUTTON WHY WON'T YOU LOAD LET'S TRY AGAIN SINCE YOU WON'T GO ANYWHERE OK FINE. LAST TIME. I SWEAR THIS IS BROKEN. THIS. IS. THE. LAST. TIME. *clickclickclickclickclickclick*
  10. Oh man. I don't even know. I don't know if I want to know I have generally put at the very minimum an hour a night into something. On the weekends I wake up if I have no plans and get my morning coffee then go bust ass on it for hours on end. Sometimes I'm out there till 2am. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds most likely. I've had some weekends where it's all i've done, woke up, worked till i couldn't stay awake, went to sleep. A few times I took week long staycations at home so I could just spend the whole week on it. I never thought to really keep track or count the time. But it's.... a lot.
  11. I wish words could describe how it feels to sit in the driver seat of the car, nearly finished, starting, running, and almost ready to drive. 4 years ago it felt incredibly overwhelming. I've never taken anything on this crazy. But I've wanted to do this since I can remember. I lit up a cigar, poured a nice glass of scotch, and just sat in it and looked at the interior. I closed the door, opened the door, played with the shifter, fucked around with it and thought, "Jesus christ... i bought a lambo and i've restored a lambo.... and i'm almost done. This is really mine, this is really it, I've actually done it. God damn. What the hell."
  12. Alright guys. - Hydraulics are in - Pedal box rebuilt and in - All fabrication to mate the non-lambo booster is good - Master cyl is adjusted and groovy for clutch - gutted the rest of the factory wiring out of the car tonight, it's all my own harness at this point - Calipers are completely rebuilt - Pads arrive tomorrow and calipers can go on - Line conversion from 2 line to 4 line master completed, minus the unions, need to get unions tomorrow, and hilariously enough the aftermarket master cyl has a shorter throw and the same size as lambo lines, so NO ADAPTER NEEDED. Makes my day. - Startup mixture tweaked a little, though it feels like it's missing, I think I have a plug wire or two loose after the adjustment, easy fix. - Targa top latches re-installed and adjusted properly - All door seals, carpet, and aesthetics are finished minus putting the final bits of the dash back together since I'm still working on the harness for the brake lights/ turn signals. Wiring for them is done, just need to make sure it's wired up at the column and tested correctly. So.... if I get the rest of the lines fixed this week, and the rest of the interior in, it looks like the maiden voyage might and I say might because I have a few 911s I am working on for some locals, I may have the maiden voyage this weekend. Fingers crossed that either way this car will see the road before the snow hits. We're fuckin' there guys. After 4 years. IT IS THERE. SO CLOSE.
  13. Actual footage of BUMN posting new threads.
  14. It really has. I didn't really want to show these "before pics" early in the build because I knew there would be some people trying to deter me from doing this car, and likely some negativity of, "There's no way, you're wasting your time." so I wanted to save them as contrast once the car was far enough along. It is the weirdest feeling in the world, reminiscing. 4 years ago I sat in the car with the interior just a total mess with the seat in it. I still remember sitting in it and having that moment of, "Wow. I own a Lamborghini now." but it was so far from done it seemed like a distant dream. 4 years later I'm sitting in it with the engine and electrical finished, the interior almost totally finished, only down to hydraulics and the last bit of wiring, gauges, the small shit and I went, "Well holy shit. I did it."
  15. For contrast, here's the interior 4 years ago. And now.
  16. Yep, learned that one the hard way. I'm currently not dating anyone, decided to focus on the lambo. The momentum and motivation is great right now, don't wanna ruin that. I do have someone I like a bit, but for now I'm just... taking it easy. Last girlfriend moved, and we've been split a little while, still good friends, she's rad. The one before that the police were involved because she was stalking me like a psychopath.
  17. Tonight I'm going to finish the carpet in the interior and will setup a live stream of the interior, and we can do some Q&A if y'all want. Let's plan for say... 7 PST? Anyone interested?
  18. The previous was black with black. I didn't like it because I feel it didn't really blend well with the white piping on the doors and seats, it was... inconsistent. So I'm doing the white trim on carpets for consistency, and I really like how it pops, without being "too much".
  19. Passenger side pretty much done. Got out my Porsche piston ashtray and had a glass of scotch and a cigar and sat in the driver seat now that it's in, for the first time in 4 years. sat there for a good hour just enjoying the cigar and scotch and relaxing. Was up since 9 working on it all day. I'm beat, I'm sore, and I feel so god damned satisfied.
  20. So some time ago I bought some window motors out of a Porsche from a friend. When I showed him my window motor (he restores porsches) he went, "holy crap I think I have something that'll fit." So I sent him my window motor so he could play with it, and sure as shit, he found exactly what I was looking for. With some slight modification, I have combined the two of them and made a half Porsche, half Lamborghini window motor setup. The Porsche internals and gearing is THE SAME as Lamborghini. But I can snag these for about $100 out of a used Porsche, rebuild them easily, and upgrade the stock motors. Beats the hell out of getting those $1500 motors when I can make these much better. The wiring and internals and winding on the Lambo motor are far thinner, much weaker. The Porsche motors are very beefy internally with better winding. The result is a LOT more juice you can run through them. The Porsche window motors always seemed like there was a ton of drag on their rails so I suspect they were made that way to compensate. But on the Jalpa? They're super quick, snappy snappy snappy.
  21. Meet someone who likes the same things and keep a consistent relationship with someone who isn't crazy?
  22. Get another! I should have the majority of the interior done tomorrow. Pics to follow.
  23. Getting there. Got some very nice egyptian cotton to sew with today and got out the new enormous roll of vinyl. So far so good. Still need to re-route the power cable. For now it's just "out in the open" while I do the carpet and trim.
