  1. I agree I dont think a modded sl65 will beat an slr on the top end. The trap speed is a good idea of who would win in a roll on race. 127 bone stock is damn good. I think at your elevation I would pick up 2-3mph whihc would put me at 123-124mph and if I recall roger (RT s65) has one of the higher traps with 128-129 in CA. The two cars I have lost to on the street were both strong top end cars. I held them off to 100 or so but just ran out of steam. When stock the evo 996tt 600 beat me and now tuned I can get a car on him but by 120-130 he is pulling ever so slow. If I dont get a great launch or hit it just right and he gets the lead he gets baout a car on me that I cant gain back. The 500whp Plastic mess-06 just pulls very hard on the top with me and I cant catch it. He just went from 500whp to 542whp and he traps 125 here witha DA of 8000+ and I my highest trap here is 120.7. I think your slr would trap 123-125 here, and in a roll on race is about 1-1 1/2 cars on me at the 120 mark.
  2. i thought it looked pretty good as well. The ext color looks very similar to my sl65 but they call it something else. with tinted windows and maybe gunmetal or blk wheels and the 722 cf lip that car would look very good. maybe one of the AZ members can stop buy and get some good pics for us.
  3. this is a new 06 that has to be a custom order. the color on the ext and the int plus the wheels. I have never seen this set up on any other slr. looks cool but I am sure they will want more money for it since it may be a one off. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...STAFSRCHUSDTEXT
  4. I have an sl65 which is a blast. I say go for it or even get the sl65. has more power the the 600 just as smooth but has the amg suspension, brakes, exhaust etc. either way a great car you will enjoy.
  5. how much is the kit for the hp upgrade?
  6. if they cut that much weight off the car it has to be quick. if renntech claims they get 722hp out of the slr I wonder why mb didnt just up the power like renntech? I think it gos to show with out major work/money there is only about 50-70hp in the motor. wonder what all they did to cutt so much weight. even if you could cut 200-300lbs that would make a big difference. have you thought about some neez wheels to reduce the rolling mass? a set of wheels they have look very close to what was on this slr gt
  7. you have to get this on video, and from the sound of it save up for tires.
  8. Come on allan show them how its done!
  9. Hey guys I have a rolex green sub (50th) up for sale. It was bought last year and I have all the boxes, paper etc. send me a pm with your email if you want pics. I will also try and post some up later tonight. The watch is in good shape. 5200.00. I also have a white face bentley gt for sale for 5000.00.
  10. Those brabus wheels dont go on that car. I saw the computer image of the slr with those wheels and looked good but this is the second slr I have seen actual pictures of with those same wheels and the just dont look good. The 722 wheels look great. The matte black looks good at night but in direct sun light does not look good.
  11. The price I got was retail but the set w/o tires came in at 23k. I guess the 722 wheels are a forged mag wheel so they should be light. They had the size I wanted to but not for that kind of money. They seem to be like a dymag or neez construction but for double the price.
  12. If they are they same as the tpms I have in my car, and the same I have seen in e55,s55,s600 etc. You can get some wheels made to accept them. I did notice they tend to read about 3-4lbs less then what the tires are really at. I put the pressure up and the fault code went away and has been off for some time. What wheels are you going with? You can use the same sensors if they are like mine. If they tell you to strap them in just leave them off. You going to run some 12inch wide rears ? I wanted a set of the 722 wheels but after getting the price I am going another route.
  13. The tuning you get from renntech is evotech. As far as the cf airbox that is RT's. So if your are just getting an ecu tune just go to evotech direct.
  14. looks great let the modding begin!
  15. Yes, Evotech does the tuning, but Renntech does the intercoolers and pumps, and I dont think Evotech's basic setup does that. They are going to be doing a full tuning setup, and that requires engine removal, about 60 hours of work, 775hp(crank) and about 50k Euro What intercoolers or what changes are they "claiming" to make? Renntech also offers the slr intercoolers for the other 55 motors which makes no sense if they have an upgraded version for the slr. The slr coolers are about as good as one can get, and as far as the pumps go they are just using some 90lpm marine pumps that retail like 300-600 depending who you ask.
  16. I know who is opening up evotech north america so if you need some parts let me know. I dont know that it is public yet so I wont say.
  17. evotech is renntech, evotech does all the tuning for renntech then sells it to renntech and renntech brands it and charges more. Go evotech they are cheaper and you will get true numbers. Renntech is good about saying and charging you for 100hp but you will only get 75hp. The slr is a good car and all they can do is change the ic pumps and add boost and get a good file to help the boost increase. AMG did the headers, cams, heads and tb so not much else to do.
  18. Im in and I am sure I can bring a few cars out with me. Just let me know when and where.
  19. I am sure there is no room for a bypass. We tried a bypass on the sl65 and there is just no room. Ended up with larger downpipes and race cats and the gain was only 13whp peak and about 20whp in the upper rpm range. It did help to spool the turbos about 500-700rpms sooner. The 65's have the turbos built into the headers/cats. I am sure the slr has the cats built in as well. AMG does a good job on the exhuast on most cars. I am sure the headers is where the slr gets some of the power it does over the other 55 motors. The 65's have 3in all the way back, and we thought we would see more gains with the exhaust work we did.
  20. If you look on the mbworld forum you can see where they are working on a TT set up for the E55 ( which is the same engine as slr with a few changes). It can be done and being as the slr has better cooling then the e55 would think you could get even more power. The problem lies in the tranny. The tranny can handle a load of 840lbft and if the base slr is already in the 600's you would max out the tranny very quick. The reason the e55 guys are looking into this is the 55 motor is very prone to heat soak. I am sure the slr is not as bad but will suffer from the same problem. The slr does have two ic pumps where as the e55 only has one. I am not sure if the slr pump is the same crap pump or the upgraded marine pump. I would think for 30k the slr could get the TT pkg as well. I think the 55 motor is a blast to drive and may lose some of that wow or fun factor with the TT's. When I went from my E55 (550hp 650lbft) to the sl65 it took some time to like it. The v8 is just a blast with that blower. I would think of looking at the heads, even the headers just incase any power is left, the pulley, ecu and if you want even more boost then bore out the blower as well. An slr with 750hp/840lbft should be pretty fast and may not take as much work as one thinks. The 55 motors run very rich and I suspect the slr motor does as well.
  21. I am glad you said that I was going to ask you which is faster? The slr is a good price right now and has that muscle car sound where as the lp640 looks great and with the right exhaust sounds well.... exotic. Are you still looking for an slr or did you buy one?
  22. The dealer just picked up an sl65 and slr from a local owner and drove them back about 200 miles. The drivers said the sl65 was as fast as the slr on the high way and more comfortable, but the slr was a head turner and did much much better in the twisties which we all knew. I love the slr but we have no tracks here so from light to light I want what is faster. I am sure you can ship the slr to kleemann and have them turn it up to 700hp and walk almost anything on the road. The down side for me on the slr is MB taking it to you on parts etc. I know the dealer said brake job was like 20-30k and the was a bad alternator on the slr...... 5k if not under warranty yet it is the same alternator as the other 55 engines?
  23. Does any one have a ford dealer that can get me on a list for this car at or close to msrp?
