  3. I find it funny when android fans invade an apple thread to gripe ad nauseum about apple. Seriously, who gives a fcuk? Here is a summary of their points: 1. Android let's you customize stuff. Widgets! 2. OMG, android had that feature two years ago! 3. My screen is bigger. 4. Apple claims they invented stuff and then sues people. 5. I don't see anything so revolutionary. The android arguments are very similar to corvette folks telling you why a 911 sucks. Meanwhile they're driving a plastic car (hardware) with a low rent interior (laggy/fragmented OS). *runs off to preorder iPhone 5

  6. What Mclaren has done is revolutionary in that ease of manufacturing looks to be the primary concern (this allows the tub to work in the ~200k space). The Mclaren's tub allows for the use of CFRP only in the areas most necessary (the floor, bulkheads and door sills) in order to maintain the appropriate cost to benefit ratio. This approach is not superior to a full CFRP monocoque and Mclaren is not touting it as such.
  7. you've got hardcore sportscar on one end and the rolls on the other....how about something in between? Super rare, pretty, good performance, etc. this would be the other along this same vein
  8. look at the gearing of the cars with the fastest 0-60 times....non of them hit 60 in first (911 turbo S, nissan GTR etc.). Tall gearing severly limits the fun factor of a street car. I prefer being able to run up to redline and through multiple gears without endangering my license. Alot of manufacturers were doing the first gear to 60 thing to help their mag numbers 5 years ago as 0-60 in a high horsepower car is limited to available traction. Tires have come along way in the last few years and now gearing is getting lower...all of the sudden there are a bunch of cars that can run to 60 in under 3.5 seconds. In an AWD car with a 7 speed automated manual type transmission there is NO reason to have tall gearing.
  9. An advantage for what? In my mind third gear should top out at under 100mph. This makes for alot more enjoyment in a street car.
  10. can anyone provide any guidance regarding the various revenue streams? Like what to charge for sponsorship, banner ads etc. or how you determine these things?
