Just snapped a phot of the oil sump and the single wire is the oil temperature sensor unit?
Mike Report post Posted July 2, 2007 That single wire is the temp sender. To check it(the gauge) unplug that wire off the sending unit and ground it. With key on that should make the oil temp gauge peg. If it does, then its the sending unit. If the gauge doesn't move then the problems at the gauge. I'd be willing to bet the wire on the back of the gauge is loose.
