First of all welcome to Lambo Power!

And of course I will answer you my friend!

As I am not a mechanic nor an engineer but only a expert driver, I can only tell you how they feel to drive.

The ///AMG cars are NOT competitors for a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. BUT it is one of the best DD (daily drives) on the whole planet.

For limousine use, outstanding.

The cars has A LOT of HP and the new electronic governance is unfortunately necessary as many of (most) the clients do not have good enough driving skills to master the car in difficult situations. AMG wants to avoid bad publicity and accidents. This is car made so EVERYBODY can just get inside and drive FAST!

For the skilled driver and with relation to AMG's VIP department you can have your car modified with more HP, exhaust, LSD (limited slip differential) etc.

Having had seat time in the SL series, I was always overwhelmed at how complete

a vehicle they are. The owners assure me they are day to day drives, in all conditions.

Thank you for the welcome and informative reply :icon_thumleft:

And "about 550" is actually a bit more :icon_mrgreen: That car was FAST!!!

And taking into account that this was back in ~1996, those numbers sound even better !!!!!

What about the new 73s for Vip clients, how much power do they produce?

Thanks for sharing your stories and pics Monaco!!

Your clients probably feel like it's the 1980s all over again when riding in those cars :D Cool looking cars though.

Are you actually allowed to have BLUE police car lights in a car? Or do you just have them in case something happens, and just turn them on and drive, even though it's illegal.

1. You need to go back to school again..... 1980's is the WRONG decade  .

* The S-Class W140 arrived in 1991 and it was not until 1995 that the 7.3 L AMG unit saw the light.

* I took delivery of mine in 1998.

* The SL 73 and the S 73 AMG "one offs" were sold until 2001.

2. We took our S 73 AMG limousine "out of service" in 2002/2003.

* These pictures are not new.

* Today we only provide escort cars.

3. Yes we can use our blue police lights.

* In the photo below you can see the blue police lights hidden behind the front grill.

Monaco, just curious, why do you only provide escort cars now

* Mainly because we are a bodyguard company and not limousine company.

* Most of our clients in Monaco, Nice, Cannes, St-Tropez and Marabella have a fleet of their own ( Rolls Royce Phantom, Maybach, Bentley, Mercedes S 65 AMG ) in which they prefer to be chauffeured around.

* We rather cooperate with a number of limousine companies instead of maintaining and using time on our own fleet.

I know they were made in the early 90s, but I just get an 80s feeling over that design, probably because it was DESIGNED in the 80s ;)

Also, when can you use your blue police lights? When you are driving local politicians? I'm guessing if a regular client were driving along you couldn't use the lights? Interested in knowing how that works.

That red SL makes me want to go back to the 90's. What a car!

Year Niclas is was a very HOT car back then, with hand made interior in red/black. Not to mention the engine...

* Ah don't worry my friend, just forget it... Everybody can make a mistake, but you just me me laugh with this kind a lame excuse "because it was DESIGNED in the 80s"

* We use it according to protocol, and that means whenever the driver (always a bodyguard) come into a situation where it is necessary, he will make use of it.

That S73 is so baller :headbang: Do you still have it?

Thank you Nathan! Yes it was really baller back then. Nobody had a white Mercedes at that time, and nobody with 19" wheels on a limo. Not to mention the interior with 3 televisions etc.

And no it was sold to a celebrity and replaced with this:

SL 55 ///AMG F1 Safety Car (original) with more than 620 HP. Note the F1 steering wheel and the piano black wood instead of the tacky aluminum.

Chrome mirrors, chrome inlet surrounding the headlights and the front grill painted in silver (black standard).

And as usual the ///AMG numberplate from the boys at the factory.

I think I see now; MB stands for Mercedes Benz and Monaco Bodyguards. :icon_mrgreen:

I personally like that face of the SL series (the new one not to my taste)

but I would ask if anything major (gearbox?) needed to be upgraded to handle

that extra power?

The SL 55 ///AMG is a FANTASTIC car. You can modify it to be very very fast.... like mine :icon_mrgreen: It is the perfect DD or for long distance travels.

You can go extremely fast, I did 330 KM/H in mine easily or you can just cruise with the top down.

And I promise you this... the girls LOVES it !

So if you can afford it, go for it. Very good value for money.

No no it stands for More Muscles :icon_mrgreen: Jokes aside.... Mercedes, Ferrari and Lamborghini :icon_thumleft:

My gearbox was modified with something called "AMG manual gear shift", meaning you could drive it into the limiter without the gearbox was changing it automatically for you. It was shifted by the buttons on the steering wheel.

Dude, it's my opinion that it looks like an 80s car, there is nothing to argue about, you have your opinion and I have mine, simple as that :) You can't seriously say that my statement was wrong either. It's not an excuse as it's just my opinion anyways. I still think it's a COOL car though!

Ok, thanks for the answer :)
