The boys at Nissan are apparantly letting their factory-prepped/massively-overboosted Ringers out to play with the press, here's the cover of the December Motor Trend.

Sorry kids, but 3,900-pound cars with just 500hp don't go "192MPH" and blister the 1/4 Mile below 12 seconds...:lol2: :lol2:

Not sure about the 1/4 part. My stealth with just over 400bhp was running the 1/4 in mid-low 12's. I was sure I could do better, but had to work out some kinks with spark blowout.

But otherwise, Nissan known for sending out ringers.

While I don't think it's as fast as it's advertised of tested, I'm sure it will be damn fast...the reputation of the Skyline has to be lived up to and I'm sure Nissan made sure it was up the test.

I'd still take it over a Plastic mess-06, Viper, or NSX.

Definitely over an NSX, as far as over a Viper or Plastic mess-06...tough one for me. The GT-R is heavy as hell, which when combined with its AWD system will make its actual driving feel one step north of a novocaine treatment at the dentist.

Still the ability to put power down easily, especially once modded to 750HP+ as most GT-R owners will probably do, is a great advantage and possibly worth the numb driving feel.

It looks great, and as long as it's better than the R34, then it's all good.

You have a typo in your post, you meant to say "it looks HIDEOUS", which it does. A big, bland, block of uninspired shit.

But I could care less about the looks at that low price level, I don't see the car when I'm driving it, that's other people's problem. At just $66k it's a mod-and-throw-away-when-done proposition, would treat it as harshly as a disposable Bic-razor POS.

Could be a lot of fun with some boost.

That picture looks fake. I think i will have some scoops under the taillights. It looks fugly in that picture

Also it does not make sense why Nissan would go through all the trouble with its marketing plan (see black-mask.org) to get the crowd excited about the car when its revealed at the Tokyo Auto Show, only to have Motor Trend reveal the "actual design" days early.

Picture is real, and the final version of the car.

can you prove that beyond the picture on the magazine??

It's an official Nissan Press photo, given to Motor Trend (and all other media outlets) with an embargo release date seven days from now.

That enough for you Columbo? :icon_mrgreen:

Alex and the boys at SP are going to have a field day with this car.

Curious about the semi-auto only tranny. They may find reaaaaaaaaaaal quick that it can't handle shit for mods, paticularly if it's an Audi-style DSG dual clutch type unit, before blowing up. By not offering a 6-speed Nissan may be jumped the shark in a big way here.

As Columbo said above: "We'll see". :icon_mrgreen:

Ok Mako, you were right! :icon_super:

One more

apparently Autoweek released the photos.

Yeah once one media organization breaks an embargo date earlier than expected the other media usually follows quickly.

Good pics, will be interesting to see all the techo-gadgetry they build into that center nav unit (g-meter, accelerometer, gps-performance measurement, etc). This is an area that all sportscar mfgs need to improve on as the tech is cheap and available, but particularly the high-end exotic mfgs (Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo).

I thought it was more like 75K its only 66?

Multiple option packages of course. Starts at $66k US, can go all the way to $85k US for certain Japan-only selections.

It could be either, disqualifying one over the other is a fool's errand considering not much is known about them.

After months of spy shots and drip-fed teasers Nissan’s all new GT-R super-coupe has been revealed with the early release of the December issue of MotorTrend. The tagline on the magazine’s cover claims the car is as fast as the Porsche 911 Turbo and is priced less than $80,000, confirming rumors the new GT-R will set a new standard in bang-for-your-buck comparisons.

Other details include the GT-R’s acceleration time of 3.5 seconds for the 0-60mph and 11.7 seconds for the quarter mile. Top speed is claimed to be a staggering 192mph.

Although we still don’t have any official details about the car’s new drivetrain, most are expecting to see a 3.8L V6 engine fed by a pair of turbochargers and mated to a dual-clutch gearbox with the latest ATESSA all-wheel drive setup. The car should measure in at 4,650mm in length and 1,920mm across. There’s rumored to be three different flavors of the new GT-R, starting with a 450hp entry-level model and ranging up to a 530hp flagship. This latter version is expected to be a stripped out racer with plenty of carbon-fiber and a track-tuned suspension.

Stay tuned for the flood of official details and images once the car is revealed at next week’s Tokyo Motor Show.

I'm guessing the Flagship version will do 192MPH. I think this car is amazing, the looks, the performance figures, just pretty much everything. If I ever bought this bad boy, I'd put a TI-78 Turbo, and two HKS SSQ-II blow-off valves, and then were talking business :D
