From what I've seen in America, for the most part, electro is the cheesy popular mainstream electronic music. I've seen it used heavily in top 40 clubs as a bridge between rap/pop and house. Electro is just not very well respected here. I have heard that electro has become quite popular in Europe and I'm curious as to why exactly, maybe you can shed some light on the subject? Hmm, what about some of these early and "very well respected" examples from America... Planet Rock, 1982 – Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force Egypt, Egypt, 1984 – Egyptian Lover or something a lil more recent...
