Good article, but MT uses corrected figures (are are very aggressive in those corrections).

Fun seeing so many new powerful cars on the scene recently (LP560, ZR1, F430S, etc).

Even though the ZR1 is not going to be my next car after coming out of a Plastic mess-06, boy do I have so much resepct for it!!!

Corrected or not, 0-100 in 6.9 secs is Enzo territory!! I am looking forward to seeing 0-150 figures for it.

Next, we need to see a ZR1 vs. ACR vs. LP560 comparison. The ZR1 will probably out accelerate them both, but the road course might be interesting (although I do suspect both the ACR and the LP to put down better lap times). Hopefully time will tell.

And he also ran a 10.9 in his bone stock C6 Plastic mess-06..;) (Nevermind the ZR1)

No matter how you slice it, the ZR1 is going to be quicker/faster than the 08 Viper, but it will never look as good nor do I think it will outhandle an ACR. Time will with more tests soon.

Head to head against the GTR:

The straight line performance numbers are not surprising, but the road course numbers are. The ZR1 was never made out to be a road racing warrior, but in the past few tests, it almost seems like it is (Beating the GTR, 599, and 997 GT2).

Can't wait to see it up against some REAL competition (ACR and LP560)

The Nurburgring Nissan GTR was faster than the ZR1 in the main straight of the ring. Why was this particular GTR far slower in all departments than both the ZR1 and the GT2?

The GT-R finished a mere tick behind the Ferrari, but well off the pace of the Porsche and the ZR1. And while Theys had mostly good things to say about the handling of the top three, in general he was critical of the Nissan. "Lack of power is a reasonable excuse," he said, "but lack of handling is not."

Finally, "Godzilla's" turn. The GT-R blasted out of the pits and vanished into the wind. Soon it reappeared in Turn Four, Theys gunning for glory, the twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V-6 screaming near its redline. Theys completed the lap, disappeared into the Turn One banking a third time, and a moment later came yet another ominous crackle over the radios. "I have lost a tire," said Theys, stoic as ever. "And some bodywork."

When the GT-R limped into the pits, the damage was shocking. The left-rear Bridgestone had delaminated catastrophically at more than 180 mph, completely shedding its tread and blowing out the rear bodywork as if it'd been hit by a mortar shell. Eerily, Theys had almost predicted just such a failure. "The rear end is walking around quite a bit on the banking," he'd said earlier after a practice lap. "The left-rear tire is working hard."

Theys had this to say: "With the other cars you can control understeer with the throttle. But in the GT-R, more throttle means more understeer. When you reach the limit, though, it suddenly goes into snap oversteer. Engine response is very nice. Linear torque. Steering and braking feel are quite good. But mostly it understeers like a pig."

Whats good about the Zr1 is not its performance stock, but the fact that with a few bolt ons it will be a 140mph car in the 1/4.

GTR was slower than the ZR1 at Nordschleife... according to fastestlaps...

http://www.fastestlaps.com/index.php?page_...2=4717b80e35715

POS ZR1 = 7:26

Nissan GTR = 7:29

3 second difference around a far longer and far faster track like the Nurburgring does not compute for the GTR. The MT test has shown that the GTR simply cant keep up with the ZR1 above 60mph, on corners, on a high speed track and also on slow tight turns.

So again how can the 480hp 3900lbs Nurburgring GTR keep up with a 638hp 3350lbs Nurburgring ZR1 on the long straights and also on tight turns?

It can't. It's not possible!

Do you see now how Porsche's claims look very clear now???
