Sometimes people come into your life and you just never know what's going to happen.

That is what my friend Jeff said to me today.

Four years ago when I opened my DeLorean restoration business: www.dmcflorida.com , Jeff came into my life as my very first customer. Who knew he would turn into one of my great friends. Jeff has seen my Countachs over the years and when he was ready to buy one I essentially unloaded 27 years of Countach knowledge upon him. His search ended with a beautiful 1980 S2. Jeff founded the Celebration Exotic Car Festival in 2004. Last year he was able to secure the Cannonball Countach for the event. After the event I tried to purchase the car. I thought I had a deal with the then owner so I sold my pristine Countach S1 #1121036 to make the deal. The owner backed out and said "I'll wait and get $500,000 at the auction". I was devastated. As the auction approached Jeff and I spoke at length. He wanted the car as well and was in a better position to make a run at the car so I agreed to bow out of the auction and wished him luck. The car did not meet the reserve at the auction and Jeff was able to put a deal together in the weeks following. I have done most of the work on my Countachs over the years and when Jeff asked for my help restoring the car I was floored! So I started a website to document the restoration. I will take on Countach projects on a case & time basis after the Cannonball car is done. That brings us to today March 16th 2009 when the Cannonball Countach arrives at my shop. After checking the car in it was time to take it for a road test to make notes of things that need tending to. A thrill and dream come true for me as well. Jeff says he has no plans to sell but does give me "dibs" if he changes his mind. The car will be at the Celebration Exotic Car Festival this year and I promise you will not recognize it as the same car from last year!

Tony, you sold the red wonder? To bad. One of the nicest CT's around. Hope you will get you a new one just as nice!

Tony, didn't realize you sold your Countach? At the present time you are Countach-'less'?, like an epidemic around here!

As I said elsewhere, I CAN believe you sold your car BUT I can NOT believe he backed out AFTER you sold it. I would've hurt him.

Fantastic... this will end suggestions about needing a "donor car".

Peter,

I CAN'T believe it ... LOL!

I HAVE sold my Countachs before but only because I was getting another one that I thought I would like better. All the while looking for my white S2. I do have communication open with the owner of a white S2 that I have been waiting patiently for him to sell for about 2 years now. It's the S2 pictured on the history page of the website. I did not want to sell my S1 but the cannonball car was a once in a lifetime shot. The way it worked out I may own it one day but even if I don't, it's like my cousin owns it :-)

Lamborghinis have never been my business. If I can help owners with my knowledge and talent I will be happy to.

Tony

I agree with Peter.

That is cheap to back out of an understanding on buying the C.B. car. 500K for a #3/4 condition S2 driver at auction - that is b.s. :icon_mrgreen:

Tony, a bianca S2 is so kewl :icon_super: :icon_super: :icon_pidu:

Well there was nothing in writing, he said he would sell it to me, it was just a matter of price. The price Jeff paid was a number that back then I had and was willing to pay. He just thought he was going to get a lot more at the auction.

uh........wow.........you guys aren't fcuking around.

You guys are no joke.

Is it difficult ot remove the dash? I seem to remember no except maybe a pain in the ass screws near the front? Radio, guages and ? come out first?

Are the S1's have plug and play wiring?

Wow, Tony, you guys are fast. Any chance I could get high-res versions of the stripped dash pics? I would like to pull my dash at some point to be recovered. Also any tips/tricks you have would be much appreciated.

Maybe someday you'll get that Silhoutte back so you can sell it to me. :icon_mrgreen:
