HannibalACP82 Report post Posted July 14, 2015 Pulled my eForm 1s to SBR the Tennessee Polymer Lowers. Had issues with 2 of my lowers and decided I didn't trust them let alone wanting to sink $200 a pop into them for an SBR. Sticking with aluminum until Mapgul comes out with a polymer lower. What were the issues? I like my New Frontier Armory polymer lower. The take down pins are pretty stiff but beyond that not a single complaint. HannibalACP82 Report post Posted July 15, 2015 What were the issues? I like my New Frontier Armory polymer lower. The take down pins are pretty stiff but beyond that not a single complaint. All 3 lowers had issues with their take down pin holes. I ended up having to drill them out to get them to work. One lower also cracked on the channel where the bolt catch slides in to. Another lower had an issue with the hole that the spring and pin slide down to hold the rear take down pin in place. The side wall ended up bulging and then spring and pin were pointing into the receiver. Also as a whole the lowers were super tight and didn't allow for an easy lock up with an upper and the mold lines were just ugly. All around just not impressed. I had one polymer lower a while ago that had similar issues, it wouldn't fit my DPMS based upper and but it fit my friends stag arms based upper so he bought it from me and i never bought another one again. HannibalACP82 Report post Posted July 20, 2015 Who here owns a SCAR 17 CQC? Who did the barrel chop or did you buy the CQC barrel? I need one for the armory!
MasterShake Report post Posted July 21, 2015 Recently built a 308 from a billet upper and receiver combo from SALTWORKS. $299 for the Billet 308 upper and lower set Its a 308LR pattern and comes with the take down pins and ambi bolt release. I went with a 16 inch barrel that I had lighted, added a Ferfrans muzzle brake with removable CRD. Timney AR-10 trigger and NiB coated bolt. The stock and handguard are carbon fiber made by lancer systems, and the scope is a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T All in it weighs a smidge over 8.5 lbs with the scope (which is heavy as hell) Great looking rifle. What lower part kit did you go with? Looks like Saltworks is sold out of theirs. Also, what are the details on the upper build? Willis Report post Posted July 29, 2015 Anyone have a favorite plate carrier? What are you going to use it for? Full kit, Minimalist overt set up, or low vis? I have 3 different ones with 3 different types of plates.. I am looking for a helmet. Anybody have recommendations (paging Charlie!). What type of helmet are you looking for? Bump helmet or Ballistic. I have Team Wendy Carbon Bump helmet with Wilcox Hardware. And for the life of me I can not remember what brand my ballistic lid is, havent used it in so long due to us running a lot of low vis assignments. TTSL Report post Posted July 29, 2015 I want to use it for the classes I'm taking. Mayflower seems like a pretty decent one. I got a drop keg mag pouch from high speed gear to use in the mean time.

Yes Mayflpwer is a good one. Are you getting plates as well? A newer-ish company that is called Armour Wear has there plate carrier that is pretty darn good as well. It's based off the USMC Carrier. The MF and Armour Wear carriers I would consider those to be run full kit being as you could never run those in a low vis application. What classes you taking brother? TTSL Report post Posted July 30, 2015 The local range has a bunch of military working there. One of the army special forces guys I met there I've been taking some one on one classes with him just to get some of the basic stuff down and have some good hands on training. It's really informative, it's amazing how much you learn and how much you think you know but don't lol they have a little make shift kill hose for some simunition training which is pretty cool. Would like to go to a bigger training school soon. Are you an instructor or range owner like Charlie? You seem really knowledgeable, loving all the info from here! Lol

I am not a fan of polymer lowers. We have seen some ammo fail and the only thing that saved the shooter was the billet upper and lower. Pretty much all pressure blew the mag to pieces. Just my .
Charlie Report post Posted July 30, 2015 Who here owns a SCAR 17 CQC? Who did the barrel chop or did you buy the CQC barrel? I need one for the armory! We have them and you just order the barrel from FN. Same with the Scar light - just order the barrel direct with FN. It is an easy swap. Charlie Report post Posted July 30, 2015 Anyone have a favorite plate carrier? Crye Precision JPC - extremely light Crye CPC - badass and order if you can afford it with the soft armor built in. This is not as light as the JPC but has more capabilities. LBT 6094 - great kit and still one of my favorites!
Charlie Report post Posted July 30, 2015 I am looking for a helmet. Anybody have recommendations (paging Charlie!). I agree with another member post here! The Team Wendy - EXFIL ballistic or LTP are awesome - we run both! We also run Ops Core. Both are pictured here...I have the Wendy helmet on and my bro has the Ops Core. Really personal preference and head fitment.
