Can't really afford to drop the 10k on the ME myself, but I've been working my ass off online trying to satellite into it.

Either way good luck to anyone playing!

I'm gonna try to satellite before I drop 10k too, they have plenty of daily STTs and mega satellites in Rio and also in local LA casinos.

Any tips from wsop veterans ?

I played in a few of the bayou series circuit games this season. Was my first time playing anything wsop-related.

Made 1 final table and 1 final 2 tables for some nice $.

Basically with a field this large and a blind structure this slow you can afford to play pretty tight at first, BUT you need to realize that with buy-ins this big people are much more likely to fold top pair, two pair, etc if it means you're pushing them in for their tournament life.

I was only playing in $300-1000 events and people were playing UNBELIEVABLY tight.

It really mostly has to do with your personal playing style, but if I was playing, I would only play AJ+/99+ but push the hands I did play VERY hard.

Good luck Joe! Bring back a big cash for LP :D

At what point do people start getting paid? just the top 8?

It's usually the top ~10% of the field.

Just breaking into the money gets you around $20k I believe, so you double your money.

So that's how many people do you have to beat?

Wow, that's impressive.. :icon_thumleft:

So basically what you saying I should be robbing the blinds all day long in the first 2-3 levels ?

My style depends a lot on what happens in the first level of play, if I win few good pots early on then it make me play more loose and vise versa..

With 20+ blinds stack I usualy fold top pair for a 3 blinds bet/raise and up and 2 pair for a 5 blinds and up unless I'm drawing open straight or flush.

So that's how many people do you have to beat?

Last year there were 6450 people in the main event, you had to beat 5805 of them to make it to the money...

First prize was $8.5 mil

Judging by the attendance so far, This year should be 10% more people.

The blinds are pretty insignificant at the earlier levels, I was more referring to making big moves/representing big hands in situations where you're up against players who you have at least some history with and you know are capable of making "good" lay downs.

It sounds like you have a pretty good grasp on how to play, but almost all situations are totally circumstantial and i wouldn't try to tell you to change to a style which is uncomfortable to you. If you're out of your comfort zone playing, you will definitely bleed chips

I just started saving up money on the side of my bankroll to set aside for the main event next year.... gonna try to make a run :icon_thumleft:

Played blackjack with a couple of the sponsored players. Don't remember their names but they each have done many of the final tables.
