Tennessee and former coach Lane Kiffin could be in hot water for alleged rules violations committed during Kiffin's one-year tenure at the school in 2009.

 

 

Southern California coach Lane Kiffin could be facing NCAA penalties for alleged rules violations at Tennessee.CAPTIONBy Eugene Tanner, APAccording to a story by FanHouse, the school and Kiffin, who just finished his first season with USC, will be cited by the NCAA for a failure to monitor after Volunteers coaches and student hostesses made improper recruiting contacts.

 

NCAA reportedly has determined that John Reaves, then an assistant coach at Tennessee, made improper contact with recruits as well as providing written and oral instruction to hostesses in the since-disbanded Orange Pride program about which top recruits to contact, how to contact them, and asked for updates on those conversations, which occurred either via Facebook, text message or phone call.

 

Members of the Orange Pride were spotted at high school games in 2009, which sparked interest from the NCAA.

 

Prior to the investigation, Kiffin had been found guilty of secondary violations and notably accused then-Florida coach Urban Meyer of breaking recruiting rules.

 

Even though he no longer coaches the Volunteers, Kiffin could face penalties from the NCAA if ultimately found guilty of the failure to monitor charge.

 

Speaking at his signing day press conference at USC, Kiffin was asked about the story.

 

"The last thing I'm going to do on national signing day is to comment on an internet article that just happened to come out today," Kiffin said. "I have no comment on that, nor do I know anything about that."
