capt_chaos Report post Posted December 26, 2011 My friend and I have been chatting loads about American Car Culture magazines. His wife goes to the US on business loads and it is a task that she has to buy the worst car magazine that she can find and some of, well most of them are phenomenally awful. For example Dub magazine and this other magazine just consisted of taking some cars that are owned by idiots and then adding some of the most ridiculous oversized garish wheels ever that must make the car handle like a barge. This is in between adverts that where they have squeezed a Gazillion inches of wheel onto some wreck. The winning thing was the advert of bull dogs. In a car magazine. SV-N-IT Report post Posted December 26, 2011 great article! the idea behind the magazine is to help influence younger people to make the right decisions. when a kid walks up to the Lambo owner and says "im just curious, what do you do for a living" is so typical and now all these answers are in a magazine. i think its a great idea, even though i would change things up a bit. i wish i had a subscription to this when i was a kid. Good Job Rob!

Good Job Rob! But at the same time magazines like this are a commentary on our culture that has become obsessed with making a lot of money, as opposed to doing something that makes a difference in the world or gives one's self personal satisfaction. It doesn't even matter what it is that people do anymore, it's how much money they are going to make. That's why you have these reality shows on TV that focus on all these wealthy people and how they live their lives, very rarely focusing on the details of what they did to be able to live that lifestyle. That's what the general public is interested in. People that don't have two nickels to rub together and never will lap this shit up and view it as some kind of inspiration to better themselves. They focus on the resulting lifestyle without understanding that to become wealthy, in most cases, great sacrifices are required. Oh Turbo that is so on point that if you were not already VIP you would have earned it with this. I hate it when you see people that see Kardshian uber wide gash as an idol, yeah worth money but look at the mode at how she got it. It is not a viable model, it is not worth it but these highly staged realty shows provide a bigger platform to show what they have acquired and by acquire you know in this case it means rented/loaned whatever. Yes these magazines (and to a certain extent these shows) can show some form of inspiration but they do not show how to go about it. All well and good finding out what someone does to get where there they are but what out there shows you how to go about it, shows you how to start a business and get going? I am in a idle pointless ranty mood today it seems.

Bill, didn't the article about you basically say that one day you grew up and decided not to be a waiter at chilies and instead decided to work for your fathers insurance company? I'm not sure that can be considered a "rags to riches" story. This is no way a put down by any means, as it seems apparent you are skilled at what you do; however it's a stretch to say it translates into a story that could act as an inspiration for some kid on the street trying to make it. Vyce, what puts you in a position to say this? I don't see your new CGT, or anything that shows you are successful... I've thoroughly read Bill's article and have used it as a form of motivation to work 10x harder and smarter in my business. Most of you guys that don't understand this kind of magazine, aren't hungry for more success... These magazines show "others" the hard work, sacrifices & determination it takes to accomplish success. Speaking of Rob's Story, The guy quit his Dental Job, and worked his butt off to acquire thousands of subscribers at $30 a month, and lives his dream and drives a veyron! Now thats Inspiration! The first step to acquiring anything significant in life is creating a Burning Desire... and this gets younger kids started, and I think its great... (no matter what happen to them as a child)
