Allan-Herbie Report post Posted January 8, 2012 Any ideas? I wanna redo the carpets in my SV so they look brand new, or as close to it as I can.
Jpegs13 Report post Posted January 8, 2012 9 times out of 10 a good carpet cleaner pre-soak followed by a steam cleaner works great. If the carpet is faded from the sun, nothing helps. Pre- Cleaner: http://www.autogeek.net/carpet-extractor-pre-treatment.html Then use the carpet steamer/ extractor ( you can usually rent this at a tool rental place) http://www.autogeek.net/mytee-hot-water-extractor.html

Th car will stink forever after if it gets thru to the underpad. I had mold under a the carpet on aTruck years ago after a steam cleaning. Never again would I do it. Maximum I would do is scrub the carpet with a sponge with cleaner on it after useing a stiff brush then vacuum.
BLACKBULL Report post Posted January 8, 2012 ^^ Even if you use heat to thoroughly dry the carpet immediately after cleaning????
sonnythebull Report post Posted January 8, 2012 ^^ Even if you use heat to thoroughly dry the carpet immediately after cleaning???? Any moisture that soaks thru and into the underpad is almost impossible to dry out. There is no airflow and it's covered up. My experience is making the car interior wet is a bad idea, it's mostly a sealed dark environment. Same reason why bad weather floor mats are rubber to keep the water out of the undercarpet http://www.truck-and-car-floor-mats.com/car-mold.html

Allan-Herbie Report post Posted January 8, 2012 Allan, what's wrong with your carpets? How bad are they? They are not too bad, just they are 14yrs old. The passanger side is fine, but the driver side could use some work.

Spray on, agitate and remove with the extractor. I do it all the time on all my vehicles, and I've never had an issue.

Jpegs13 Report post Posted January 8, 2012 Check here, just about every detail has a carpet cleaning using the MyteeLite II Hot water carpet extractor. Somebody must be doing something right or there are a lot of stinky exotics out there. http://www.lambopower.com/forum/index.php?showforum=

BLACKBULL Report post Posted January 8, 2012 If you have small pieces off carpet , like in a Jalpa , could you put them in a wasting machine ? Or dous that affect the carpets ? Not sure if they are washer safe, but if the carpet is removed from the vehicle they can be washed without causing mold in the car; as long as they are completely dried. JohnnySimpson Report post Posted September 21, 2020 Absolutely, if you remove it without doing carpet cleaning, then mold will not get cleaned from the carpets.
robertcoleman Report post Posted November 17, 2020 Use bessel carpet cleaner for extracting the dirt from carpets as it is the best cleaning product in demand.
