Am I correct in saying that it would not be that unusual for Lamborghini to tweak a car for or at a cutomer's request?

If not, I would not be surprised if they did for the sake of it being the last car.

 

He does have 2 of 3 really good offers....overseas of course.

yes, Lamborghini has been known to tweak little things for high end clients.

 

MY OFFER WAS TURNED DOWN AND THEN COUNTERED. I guess its going over seas

Sold for 189K! Well sold. I think thats a record for a QV fuel injected.

 

that is really good. but...

As a dude living in the US, I would not have paid that. As a european dude, the price is definitely afffordable for someone who dont mind injection. That is the value imbalance that causes all the CT to fly away.

 

I wonder if I am missing something here. Is the fact the car is the last and maqy have factory enhancement really worth about $70K on a model that is not a prized model? I am not sure that even the Andretti car sold for that much. I would love to know the reasoning of the buyer. I am sure the guy has a good reason for going there.

 

Anyway my point is only academic as i am glad to see the Ct market well and alive

ok, in regards to my comment and the blue car... i will retract my 'S' comment for now. I have already been provided a letter from the factory stating it is the last one and i am working on the "possibility" of a letter stating that the engine was tweaked. YES if the owner paid a little more and was willing to wait they would balance the engine for you and maybe a few other little things but it seems if you did not pay extra then they were more than happy to just "claim" they did something to the engine. Honestly my breakdown was this... a great condition FI car 110 (previous owners for sure had the means to care for this car) plus last one 25 plus one off color for FI car 25 plus the fact it stands out even amongst other countachs 5 plus unique interior 5 plus the collectibility factor/conversation starter/ only two late model blue countachs in the US (other is Roys DD) another 5. total 175,000. Everything has a range so 175-185 is realistic. The unique cars are more collectible, period and this one has not just one but a few special qualities that simply wont ever be on any other countach. 15 years ago as i said it carried a pretty good premium and since good cars are further separating from junks and many more have been lost to time and gone over seas i think there is a REAL market for this car. This car will always lead the way for F.I. prices but it is unique and if you like blue then this is about it... Roys car will bring ALL the money when the time comes (it turned out FANTASTIC) and it will make this price seem like a bargain if you are color hunting.

I am struggling for how much I would pay for that car. I concluded that for $215K I would not get an injected, even if the last one and perfect. That car is a sort of milestone but not that kind of milestone. For this price better buy a 400Sx or one of the top DD on the market.

 

It will take a special buyer who is set on the later QV look and is not daunted by the injection engine (at this price one can be demanding).

This car has no special history. If I were to spend my own money, having see the car (very nice) I would go a the mid-DD price, that is $150K.

May be I just fail to appreciate that car.

 

I can certainly see your point... i will also say that i wont say anything about some of the potential buyers (yes things are still in motion here) BUT your price of 150 and where they are at, say 190 is a difference of 40 so in some respects not that far off. It seems this is not the factor slowing down the transaction anyway. Some feel the later cars with a better fuse panel and A/C with more vents is the only one to have and Roy has even suggested a 15000dollar premium for 88 1/2 models. I guess we just wait and see now exactly how this unfolds.

I'll stick to well sold. I'm still curious about the suspension engine upgrade, and S emblem. It's neat to see a Countach in a different color. The price is high, but they are really high outside of the US. What this near mint car might really show more than anything, is that a QV fuelie (haha, you heard that designation first from me - just like the old Cor v ett es) is not a 85-100 car. This is just my opinion, I would MUCH prefer a QV than a 89. Yeah, the 86-88 QV fuelie is the underpriced bargain variant. It's the next one to rise.

The Blue car belongs to Keir about 30min from me. He is a multi Lambo owner

The car was at the 40th Reunion in NY last May. The car was real nice.

Apparently it is a "S" from factory. Motor and suspension tweaked with factory paperwork to back up. See auction description.

Spoke to him yesterday. Real nice guy.

 

 

 

Wrong !!! The fact that there is NO factory paperwork to back the claim on the "S" story is what is holding back the Chicago sale. The $189,000 offer agreed upon IS from Chicago. The seller has not produced copies of documents to back up his claim.

I think the paint and the last one are far more important than a few extra ponies.

Knowing what some of the cars really sold for, I'm sticking with well sold. It's easy to say what someone needs to pay, and totally different when it's you own money. As a owner, I'm tickled pink each time a high price is reached. So wait a minute, that was a cheap .... :)

imo it is not a matter of some claimed 20 hp more.....honestly a good FI QV tuned by Evans or a similar reputable shop with a sport exhaust and few tweaks could very well be much faster than it ....but it is not speed or real RW HP that are important in classic car market

 

it is the fact this car "could" (because it is not certain at the moment and i have never heard of special tuned "S" USA QV before) be a special tuned one with papers from factory

 

Silvera LP400 is a documented "special tuned" car and it is worth more than the "regular" LP

 

this FI QV is last made, special color (a nice one most would agree) and "may" be special engine

if the last thing is confirmed i can see it to be worth in the 180k $ range, considering it is also a very very nice conditions car

if the seller has not the papers to back up the "S" claim i do think it is less valuable and worth a good 20k$ less (at least)

 

 

this is my personal opinion based on selling prices i saw for unique or special lamborghinis

i am not sayng the car is worth nothing without papers or proof of the "special S" tune.....the conditions, color and the fact it is the last built remain and will always make it a special (more valuable) USA QV car

yeah. utlimately that blue does not do it for me at all even if it is a one off. if the vaue is mostly about the blue then I know why I would not go for the top price.

Joe S. had a relavent answer to this question:

The factory would often tell the car's first owner about tuning upgrades but they were "unofficial" (for liability reasons?) and that information was given to the first owner and not presented on the car's sales paperwork. Ive seen 4-5 instances of this with Wolf, Robinson etc were serious tuning was done, but was not on the paperwork.

Sorry to hear that. The car is unique. Sad to see another one leave the country :(

 

 

Unfortunately, the blue car is going to Germany. Most of the last sales I have spoken to the sellers about have left the country. Seems like the interest for these cars is not here in the US :(

there a good and a bad news abut this.

 

the bad news is that US countach price is dirt cheap for europeans. They are byuing here because there is a better value pick.

the good news is by my account 1/2 of the countach population is in the US so there is room to work with.

 

What is concerning in this is that the best and most expensive cars are going away and it seems that "would be buyers" are flocking around the junk cars. (other threads says the $60K dismembered QV gets 10 calls /days!!???). Heck a cheaper nice ferrari gets 2 calls 10 for the junk.

It looks like european like feasting on caviar and the taste of sh.t prevails here...

May be we need to become a socialist country with more people making good money and more chaps could afford buying nice cars again ( dont mind me, I am frustrated by this).

 

I do agree. losing that car from the NY shows is a significant loss. it was a mint car by all standard, even if I dont go for the color.
