Questions about Millennium Roadster

When you guys say "fake" -- fake only in terms of the ME status -- not the car itself! Right?

Yes, It's a 99 roadster, but not a Millennium. Unless it may be a Euro, or some super secret special edition, (SSSE), that nobody knows about :)

I guess it could be a euro Millennium
The vin is: ZA9RU31B5XLA12224

R = roadster

U = USA

X = 1999

Serial No 224 would put the build date around April 1999 which should be checkable on the car ie at least 6 to 8 months too early for an ME.

Regardless, ain't no euro.

I just checked out Bergen Countys listing on the car, 11K miles, $225k. If someone paid a $35K+ premium for this car, because they think it is a Millennium, what happens when they find out it's not?. Do they have recourse?. I can see an independent dealer not knowing, but a Lambo dealer should have caught the inconsistencies immediately.

The car doesn't even have the cf wing, which I think is the most important distinguishing feature.

Yeah I won't even deal with those guys -- if they can't tell me (or know better) if a car is KM/Miles or its an authentic ME, I'm not bothering.

FYI here are the vins for the ten US millenniums:

#1 XLA12362

#2 XLA12365

#3 XLA12366

#4 XLA12369

#5 XLA12370

#6 XLA12372

#7 XLA12375

#8 XLA12376

#9 XLA12379

#10 XLA12382

Please take a look at the following car: http://lambo.dk/lse/images/ZA9RU31B9XLA12453_1.jpg, http://lambo.dk/lse/images/ZA9RU31B9XLA12453_2.jpg, http://lambo.dk/lse/images/ZA9RU31B9XLA12453_3.jpg

If genuine, it seems to be a US 99 Roadster with two-tone leather and a carbon rear wing. The VIN, XLA12453, is higher than that of any of the Millennium cars you list. Is this car a Millennium or something else?

BTW Cat´s Exotics describes the car as follows:

"1999 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster finished in Titanium over Black and grey leather interior. Features include Factory OEM Carbon Fiber rear wing, Grey leather inserts, Grey piping, Upgraded shift knob, Alpine CD Player, New Clutch, New Pirelli P-Zero Tires, Tinted windows, Full 3M film protection, fresh service, Upgraded exhaust system and all books, tools, manuals, records, keys and no accidents! This is a very LATE production 99 Roadster, production date 12/99 and received the Diablo 6.0 heads as well as the close ratio 6.0 Gearbox!"

Looks like this is a really old topic, but thought I'd chime in anyway. I have a copy of the letter we were sent by Vik Keuylian to all Lamborghini Dealer Principles on November 10, 1999 regarding the Millennium Roadster.

"To further boost Lamborghini sales and welcome the new millennium Lamborghini style, we are importing a limited number of Millennium Metallico Roadsters. Only 10 of these Roadsters will be available. They will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. The Roadsters will have the following options:

Paint: Millennium Metallico (Best described as light Titanium)

Interior: Black seats with Grey inserts and Grey piping

Visible carbon fiber wing

Sport shorter gear ratio "faster acceleration"

MSRP: $299,900"

Anyway, there you have it!

Any reason for the month old bump?

Sorry about digging in the archives... My personal reason for this is that I own a late European Roadster (later than US Millenniums) - I find it interesting that there seems to be a few cars produced after the official Milleniums (sometimes with similar options). In addition, although the US Milleniums are well documented, there is very little info available on European Millenium roadsters (20/30 cars produced)... For example no comprehensive list of VINs, colors etc is available.
