Thinking of buying a Versace coupe - what's it worth?

MY 2 cents... and I usually dont like moderation, but I am actually a huge fan of getting those ridculous big boobs, and panty and bra shots, and random 'borderline pornographic' avatars off the car forums. Dont get me wrong, I love that stuff, but I dont mix my pleasures. I come here to read and talk about cars, Its pretty easy to go to 'other' websites and find that other stuff.

 

Now, I didnt see the photo, and I am guessing you were no where near some of the other 'near offensive' stuff I have seen on other forums. But I for one, am all about keep car forums focused on car discussions and appropriate car related Avatars and signatures.

 

This isnt a ford mustang forum after all ;-)

 

I'm probably in the minority.. but I really like that they regulate some of the 'crap' people try to use as avatars and signatures on here.

 

Again, I got on my soap box, only supporting the moderator/policy on the general priciple of his actions, but on the specific violation, I never saw it.

 

Be careful posting photos of your wife/girlfriend, sometimes you'll get feedback you werent expecting or wouldnt like. I've seen it on other forums, and it gets ugly fast.

 

Again, ON TOPIC, Vesace cars just arent worth it, and quite frankly as stated, I am not sure I rank them as high as a 'regular' LP640 thats got more options and possibly cost the same price, becuase it had more USABLE real options... You wont be able to resell the car at a premium, I can assure you of that, even if you (or another) was foolish enough to over pay, its likely you wont find a similar inviidual later.

I agree completely. Forums with nearly NSFW avatars in every post just kind of give off a high school vibe to me. I like boobies as much as anyone else here, but I'm already on the internet so I can see them within seconds if I feel the need. The exception, of course, would be if the hot girl in the avatar is actually you.... in that case, I totally approve.

I love the Versace car. It'd distinguished, yet not ostentatious.

 

 

 

the car will probably sell a lot quicker then a regular lp640 if both are are the same price. certain people would pay a premium over a regular lp640 for a versace 640 (I know I would) at the end of the day buy what you want. if you've always wanted a versace 640 and you're about to throw down 200k for a car whats another 20 grand?

Oh that I can agree with, if they are the same price and the only difference is one being Versace and one not, then sure why the hell not. (although admitedly I'm just not feeling the full interior being that way).

 

BUT what I was saying, is what if sticker on the two cars was 450k originally, but the versace came with 'standard' stuff and the versace pacakge (purely looks) pushed it to 450k, but the 'regular' LP640 had ceramic brakes, full carbon fiber, back up camera, glass bonnet, two tone Q interior, etc. that pushed it to that same 450k original price. I'd much rather have REAL options that drove the price up, vs just interior.

 

so then if those two cars are now on the market for say $220k, I'd definitely take the lp640 optioned out, over one thats just a versace.

 

Now if you tell me the versace is commanding 20k over a car that was similar sticker priced when new, but now in the used market, I'd say F that.. and definitely take the better optioned out, cheaper car, as I think I got a LOT more for my money.

 

 

I am not sure if I explained that well, but thats my thoughts.. I'd pass on the Versace on anything more then a minimal premium, all other things being equal.

Were there any manual Versace LP's made?

I'd pay a bit of a premium ($5k to $10k) for the Versace Edition mainly because I love that interior.

I think it's worth less than a normal one because the market for it is vastly smaller. I for one wouldn't be caught dead in that car unless it's at a steep discount.

 

This is a case where I don't think being a niche product helps the value. Chances are it will be harder to sell, thus you may have to hold onto it longer and/or sell cheap to move it in a reasonable amount of time. And with time of course obviously comes depreciation.

Interesting story about the Versace edition roadster: Few years ago here in Dubai, Sulaiman Al-Fahim convinced Lamborghini to convert his regular LP640 roadster to a Versace edition. Apparently he payed around half a million dollars to convince Lamborghini to do it themselves.

 

All the Versace parts can be purchased from the parts department except that Versace plaque. So the owner technically payed over half a million dollars just for that plaque and of course a little more white leather as his seats were fully white instead of black and white. So at the time, the car cost him around 1 Million!

Some of these were turned back to normal LP640's if I'm not mistaken, thus apparently not many saw it as worth the premium. If it wasn't worth a premium then, it still isn't now. And like I said, it costs money to sit on an exotic.

 

Everyone on here agrees that none of the 'special edition' Gallardos are worth any more than a Gallardo, so why is this any different? However, while I would say a China edition Gallardo is worth the same as a regular Gallardo, I don't think that is true here because of the associated brand. It's tacky. I think that having Versace logos all over the car is similar to having a weird color --selling at a discount.

 

Oh, I also don't think Versace is as good of a brand as it used to be, at least as a name. That's just my opinion though.
