The fuel pump issue is specific only to the tt 6 cylinder, the newer single turbo design is fine. If you have a problem on the older engine BMW extends out the warranty to 100,000 miles.

 

Actually BMW extends the warranty to 10 years or 120,000 miles.....whichever comes first.

 

I just got a 535xi and I figured when the fuel pump goes I just drop it off at BMW and get a loaner car for a week or so.

You are right, it was longer than I would own any car so details, details. It's not a bad engine, it just doesn't like to sit.
