Latest polling has 75%+ believe the IRS emails were intentionally destroyed. You have to understand something.... 75% of Americans can't agree that Elvis Presley is dead. Poll numbers like that just dont happen here... The magic number in American politics is 34%. 34% of the country would vote for Charles Manson on the "I'm going to kill every motherfucking one of you" platform if he had a D next to his name (or conversely an R, going the other way). So when you hear a President has a 50% approval rating, all he's really done is convinced 16% of the population... The other 34, he already had in the bag, because to them, politics is a sport, and the party is their team.

 

When you hear that only 24% believe the IRS is telling the truth, he's managed to even lose 10% of the core, insane, base... Break the poll down demographically and 66% of Self described DEMOCRATS think the IRS emails were intentionally destroyed.... That's fcuking Nixonian.

 

Now, with that magic 34% number firmly in your head, here are his other poll numbers-

 

His overall approval rating- 41% (+7)

His handling of foreign policy approval- 32% (-2)

The economy (and this was taken BEFORE yesterdays announcement that q1 GDP was negative 3%) 38% (+4)

Healthcare (which is probably WHY q1 gdp shrank) 41% (+7)

Aaaaaand... They've got the smoking gun.... They've got an email, on Lois Lerner's blackberry, where she tried to get a Republican Senator audited... The only question now is, does she go to prison by herself? or does she name names on the way?

 

 

And the crazy part of all this (As if it's not crazy enough already) - Is the MSM is still trying to spin the IRS debacle into a manufactured conspiracy by Conservatives! No kidding, I just read this: Could the EPA hard-drive crash be proof there was no IRS conspiracy?" The article then goes on to point to the fact that the EPA (Yet another gov institution under investigation) cannot supply emails due to a "hrad-drive crash" as evidence that this is a normal occurence, and no emails were destroyed...

 

Nearly fell out of my chair when I read that one. The lengths the MSM has gone to protect this administration shocked even me. (And thought I was done with being shocked by anything that happens in politics these days)

They can try to spin for now. But we're past the tipping point. Theyre on the losing side. Peoples minds are made up and theyre a lot smarter than the chuckleheads at 30 rock give them credit for. Something stinks. At the least liked abd trusted branch of the government. When they start seeing their q numbers drop, they too will turn on him.

There is another issue here that makes this a particularly dangerous scandal for Obama. Its in that this scandal involves the abuse by the IRS, and that means it undermines the sacred cow of liberals. The progressive income tax. Which neccesitates the very excistance of the IRS. No progressive income tax, no IRS. No IRS, no abuse by the IRS for political reasons.

 

Thus, this scandal has the ability to seriously threaten the Progressive Income tax, which is constantly under assault from the right. If 75% of the country thinks the IRS is crooked, its not a leap to believe they demand it be dissolved.

 

Which means liberals may have to make a choice. Save a second term lame duck unpopular president. Or save the holy grail of socialism.

I'm at the point now where I believe that nothing matters any longer when it comes to government incompetence, unconstitutionality, and scandal. They could have multiple sources with POTUS on film wielding a dull-bladed hacksaw slaughtering puppies, children, and grandmas. The MSM would trivialize it, marginalize it, and justify it.
