Much, much less. Spend maybe a few grand/year on Pagani. It's a very simple car compared to the Veyron spaceship and it weighs so much less. Koenigsegg is a bit more but still nowhere near $30k/year. No need to replace wheels regularly either.

Interesting, thanks for the info!

I have another question if you don't mind: when the Pagani's engine is serviced do they fly in a tech/have you fly the car to the factory like Koenigsegg or can a Mercedes dealership with AMG techs do it?

Are there local Bugatti dealers in the USA where you can service your Veyron or you need to transport the car back to the factory?

There are 4 dealers from the Mid West to the East Coast. St Louis, Chicago, Greenwich and Miami.

what a great read, its interesting to see the sorts of $$$ to run such a specialised car.

its also great that this thread didnt follow in the vein or how these threads usually go on other forums, with dozens of jerk responses of "if you have to ask you cant afford it" bla bla bla, chalk one up for the awesome LP community :D

If anyone is considering owning a Veyron I highly recommend it. Yes the maint costs are high, but thats to be expected. The only other hyper car I would consider owning over the Veyron is the Huayra, nothing else street legal in America is on the level IMO.

Koenigsegg does not make a car that is street legal in the United States.

I agree 100% with VBUGKING. The only two hypercars that interest me are the Huayra and the Veyron. The battery boosted cars do nothing for me.

The comment I responded to was considering which of the hypercars to buy. The Veneno isn't an option / not available.

A few Koenigsegg's were able to come to the USA. I believe his was the last. The DOT now requires that all cars are fitted with smart airbags. Smart airbags means that the passenger's airbag will automatically activate and deactivate based on the weight on the passenger's seat (+/- 100 lbs). Apparently, it is very expensive to cross that hurdle.

Pagani has recently delivered Huayra's to customers in the USA. The Huayra has smart airbags and is fully street legal in the USA.

If you consider what it cost VAG to build a Veyron (estimated they lose anywhere from 2-6MM USD per car) it really puts things into perspective. I'm curious as to where they will be valued in 5-10 years, especially an early "run of the mill" example.

In other news, the McLaren F1 is climbing in price and the bottom is now about 9MM USD (citing Peloton25). McLaren lost money on their cars because demand just wasn't there during production. And now it is looking like it will be the next 250 GTO.

Yes Webster's was the last to come in under the Smart airbag exemption, although apparently they're going to start bringing in Ageras or at least the One:1 under Show and Display until the next model which will be full US compliant. Not sure if the current cars will qualify for S&D though.

Interesting to hear about the Huayras, I thought they were still in a gestation period and the only stateside one was Brett David's show/demo car. Apparently a lot of potential buyers cancelled their orders to wait for the roadster too (not sure how true that is though). Do you know how many have made it over now?

Was at Bugatti Miami today and saw three bugs getting worked on, two of which had nearly all the body panels behind the doors off. Holy shit.

Anybody knows a workshop that has some experience and can service and work on bugs, that ISN'T an official Bugatti dealer in the US?

Too late, I already bought a US spec bug that isn't in the US.

Cars are somewhat less troublesome to buy than houses.

I'm back in just over a week. Where are you now??

Congrats! I agree with Fapper, you need a house with a garage to put all these cars.
