Like with many things about my 2 favorite brands, BMW did it first, but Lamborghini made it more extreme. Yes Lambo built an SUV before BMW did (a full 13 years before) but when BMW dropped the X5M and X6M in 2012, they invented the Super SUV. Lambo has upped the ante, since the Uras produces 70 more HP than the present gen X5/6M (which are blast to drive on the track) and in Lambo style the went to town on the styling part (I see a lot of ques from the Estoque in it).

Yep, they used both X6M and Cayenne as benchmark cars.

The proportions are similar yes but the styling is not similar at all. I see more similarity to Cayenne than X6. Hope they release a butched up version in year 2.

It's a SUV, the design, layout and configuration is SUV like same as a 4 bedroom apartment is unlike a 10 bedroom 3 story mansion, not sure how some expected it to look like.

You can look at a Ford/Kia/Hyundai/BMW/Benz/Bentley etc.etc SUVs and they all have design elements in common.

What I don't like about it is due to snobbery LOL .

It's a parts bin special with a Lambo badge, is it an amazing car? I have no doubt that it is!

Is it a true Lambo? No it's not.

Am I happy they are producing it? Yes I am, if there is a market for it and they make money out of it more power to them.

I am not a selfish communist, this is a free world, the choice belongs to the consumer, you don't like my product move on, you can NEVER please everyone, you are a fool if you even attempt to do it.

Read online product reviews and you will want to poke your eyes out with a plastic fork, whomever deals with retail customers deserves a Gold medal daily LOL

Bottom line in my opinion for this product is pretty simple:

From Lamborghini's point of view, it's an easy money grab. There are probably tons of parts sourced from a few different areas of the VW group, and they're slapping a ridiculous $250Kish sticker price on it, with extremely expensive options, to make sure the margins are out of this world.

From the customer's point of view, it's yet another way of showing off you're rich, 365 days a year, with this new SUV. It's, in my opinion, nothing special. It's just another X6M, another Cayenne Turbo S, another Bentley Bentayga...

To me, that's the disappointment. The Aventador is SO special; the Huracan is quite the event too. I feel like the Urus is "just another souped up" SUV. I saw posts on IG about how it's a "game changer" by Kris Singh...W.T.F...it has nothing game changing about it.

Like Fortis said, if you don't like it, move on, but it's a disappointment to me...

Ok, everyone has his own taste: I wouldn't ever buy a Porsche Cayenne, nor for ten dollars, but it's the Porsche bestseller today, so my taste and the market taste are different.

Talking of this brand new Lamborghini Urus, here you are my opinions (that are no more than personal opinions, of course):

- Lamborghini Urus prototype came out more or less five years ago, and the production car is very close to the prototype, so I don't understand why anyone can now say "I'm disappointed": you should have been disappointed five years ago, why just now?

-Lamborghin Urus looks (to my eyes) to be ten times better looking than the Porsche Cayenne, that is the market benchmark.

-Lamborghini Urus has the highest top speed among the SUV

-Lamborghini Urus will be (very likely) the world quickest SUV on an handling track

-Lamborghini already did a SUV 30 years ago, and (just in my opinion) it looked even worse than an Humvee, that is not the best looking car in the world...

So, what were you expecting from a five seater SUV? Did you think it would have been like an Huracan?

I remember what Porsche enthusiast said when the Cayenne was introduced, 15 years ago, but then it happend what happened

Resuming: In my opinion this Urus is the top pick among the Sport SUV today. I consider it much better, and much better looking, than X6M, GLE AMG, Range Rover (any), Cayenne Turbo S, Levante, Bentayga, F-Pace and so on. And it carries a famous Italian Sport car brand that was the first in the world to produce a Super SUV.

This said, you can hate SUV, hate this car, don't like the shape, don't like the 650 Hp engine, don't like they did it, all you want, but it's a great and great looking raised sides supercar with four seats (or even five, if you want)

ciao

Ferrari will do a thing like the Urus as soon as it (the car) will be ready, means two or three years, no more.

The FF/GTC was a flop, so they will do what people want when they look for a four or five seaters car: raised side 4x4 supercar like the Urus is

Please note that I didn't write opinions, just facts: Ferrari is already at work...

ciao

Enzo will be rolling in his grave.

Fellippe my friend you will feel like a child who discovered for the first time that Santa isn’t real :icon_mrgreen:

Ferrari is a marketing machine, I believe they make more money from merchandise than they do from cars, their new CEO increased production in order to increase profits, they will be doing a Ferrari SUV, people buy these cars, non enthusiasts buy them and they bring in lots of money that’s why many companies do them.

I am guessing it will be the other way around, you will see a rebadged Levante rather than the Levante serving the roll of the SUV, I do hope they will build a brand new platform for it, time will tell.

BTW my absolute favorite modern Ferrari (you can buy) is the FF, ugly to look at but fantastic to drive, if it had 5 seats I’d have one in a heartbeat beat.

I gotta have an inner six year old kept alive. :icon_mrgreen:

Ferrari making an SUV or even a sedan would be the end of an era.

BTW, the reason why the FF/Lusso is different is for the reason you mention.......fantastic to drive, and still a car with GT ground clearance.

I have to admit the Cayenne and Panamera have grown on me slightly. Not that I'm in love or anything, but I kinda dig em a little as opposed to absolutely not being interested years ago.

So everything over times wears on you. I figure the Urus will eventually be accepted by all based on these two above.

Not so sure about that, I want a nice family car and I looked at a RR Ghost, some nice combos with very low mileage available on the secondary market with a tone of depreciation already realized, I’ve been tempted by a few but I still can’t get over the fact that it’s pretty much a 7 series underneath for 3 times the price :icon_mrgreen:

what motor is in this thing? too lazy to read through the whole thread

I like the look, I think it waters the brand down some but if it leads to an influx of cash for better sports/super cars then whatever

I think it’s the Audi V8TT from the Audi RS6 and Audi S8, good power-plant.

Lamborghini is simply following Porsche's footstep. Porsche purist were all crying foul when it came out with the Cayenne which eventually turned out to be its best selling product and made Porsche the most profitable brand in the automotive industry. And from the look of it, Porsche haven't forgotten its core value either; the 911 continues to evolve and while it may not look and perhaps sound very exciting, some are truly performance beasts.

As a Lambo enthusiast, quite frankly, I wasn't and still am not too thrilled about this. However, Lamborghini is a pint-size company within the industry that went through several owner changes and was at the brink of going under. VAG/Audi came to its rescue and we are witnessing the results and its success today. The flip side is Lamborghini has to follow what the parent company dictates as VAG in turn has to keep the shareholders happy especially after the Diesel-gate debacle. To keep the company afloat and continue to operate properly, funding is obviously required. We had seen Lamborghini's fund-raising attempts via the Reventon, Aventador-J, Veneno and the Centenario. All were successful as cash-infusing projects but by default none can involve high volume. Lamborghini needs a product to be marketed en masse for long-term sustainability. Building a SUV is an obvious choice as demonstrated by its Porsche cousin. Do I like the Urus? Not really. Do I find it acceptable? A reluctant yes. Would I buy one? Never say never but definitely not in its current form. Two factors would determine its success or lack thereof. 1) Pricing. As of yesterday, no official pricing had been announced yet but it's likely a fairly safe bet on the neighbourhood of the USD200k mark for starter in North America. I think that's a slight bit more than ideal but we'll see. 2) How close would the Audi Q8 resemble the Urus or vice versa? We all knew the similar underpinnings of the Gallardo and the Huracan vs.the 2 generations of the R8. But all were distinct and appear mutually exclusive enough to secure their own markets. The same would apply on the Urus vs. the Q8. But if the Q8 Concept were to provide any styling hints on the production car, that is going to negatively affect the Urus as it bears a strong resemblance to the Q8 Concept.

Performance-wise, the stats look good for the Urus. But then again it needs to be in such a crowded and competitive market sector. Let's hope it delivers exactly in real life to what they claimed to be. And quite frankly, I don't think it's fair to compare the Urus to the LM002. It's beyond comparing apples to oranges; more like comparing apples to bread. I even question the validity of calling the LM a SUV but that's just me. Two completely different vehicles designed and built in two very different eras. People's views of the world are also very different between then and now. The inception of the LM002 and the Urus couldn't be further from each other. The LM002 was a compromise or even a salvaged deposition of a military vehicle. The Urus has a specific civilian/consumer targeted audience. Given the circumstances, the LM didn't do so shabby and the Urus could be better still. It's not a failure, anything but in fact but given Lamborghini's pedigree, it could have been a lot more exciting. Let's hope Lamborghini is just playing it safe and testing the water. Once they have been sure-footed, a much wilder version will be available. Moreover, let's hope the Urus serves its intended purpose and rakes in a ton of money for Lamborghini so it would continue to adhere to its core value by building hyper performance and wild but stylish-looking exotic super sports cars.

Received the Urus order guide and pricing for Canada, MSRP is $232K. Tons of options but all the paint colours are free which is nice. And didn't the Urus have optional 23" wheels? I only see 22's.

The US guide is the same, just lists the 21' and 22' wheels, no 23's.

lot's of pricey options.

Yup, noticed that as well. Played around with the options I easily got the price up to $270k. You can easily spec a Urus for $300k. Yikes.

I wonder how this will affect the Bentley Bentayga? I wonder if it will lead to overall increased sales since it's all VW.

I'm positive A LOT of celebrities and athletes (NBA money - James harden etc.) will buy one.

I feel like what's killing it is that front grill with all the yellow accents...in a darker colour it looks awesome, but in a lighter colour, those accents need to go...I wouldn't be surprised if for a different version they get rid of it and put normal intakes or something that cleans it up.
