Kienetic Report post Posted September 1, 2017 Not sure if this is the right section to post this. Mods, please move to the right sub-forum if needed. So I was actually in the market for a McLaren until I stumbled on to this car (from Sacramento, CA area). Definitely caught my eye and truly a gem in my opinion. With that being said, I was wondering if anyone here recognize this car? Some dealer from the area called Diamond Autosport currently has it in their possession and for some odd reason, they seem a bit fishy about it as if they don't know jack. I'm interested in the car, but i'm quite concern about the well being and condition of the car. Can anyone here vouch for this car or know of any history about it? VIN: ZHWGU11S74LA00522 *Note* I know it says sold, but it's currently pending with me. http://www.diamondautolife.com/vehicle-det...dca04ed54f3185/ Much appreciated. Kevin2772 Report post Posted September 1, 2017 Were blue inserts like that ever an option?? I cant say ive seen that color of alcantera, which makes me question why they reupholstered the car, if they did.

I would say that whole interior is aftermarket which could be scary.

Blue Alcantara, or Alcantara in general as well as Q-Citura stitching weren't even available as options for the MY04 G. It looks like this car had gone through a lot and, looks-wise, is a mixbag from the Gallardo series. The interior is definitely redone as is the car stereo. The colour scheme resembles that of the MY06 Gallardo SE (black top, mirrors and engine cover) except no SE was ever made in Blu Caelum and SE's have different wheels. SE's also have darker tail lights but no where as dark as this car. Finally, this car also has the nose/bumper of a LP560 instead of the MY04 G. And according to the description, what is a "Power folding rear window/wind protector"? Unless you have access to the authentic full service records of this car, I would avoid. Kienetic Report post Posted September 1, 2017 Thanks a lot for the feedback guys! You guys are sure perspective... Yes, from what I was told, the interior was in fact redone because there was a lot of wear on the inside originally. The previous owner swapped out the old stereo (because it was crappy) to something a little better and more modern. They sent me roughly 7-9 pages of invoices dated back from 30k miles and it's been kept up since then. Tons of preventive maint work such as simple fluid changes and and half of it related to the transmission. They fixed the issue with the older gen transmission by installing a new F1 E-gear pump around the 37k mile mark. Currently on it's second clutch, which I found to be a bit weird because the dealer told me it had 77.34% clutch life left when in actuality, the invoice stated 77.34% clutch USED. As VCR stated above, when I saw the "power folding rear window/wind protector" note on the ad, I was like the hell is this? It was also noted that the airbag light is on (not by the dealer, but from the invoices they sent me), not sure if that is a common issue with these cars. With all of this being said, I concluded that the dealer had little to no idea about the car, just trying to make it more appealing for a quick sale so I figured it would be more ideal to post here to see if anyone know about the car or perhaps give me some insights. Kienetic Report post Posted September 1, 2017 Jump in a Mc Laren and drive away as fast as possible!!!! Cost almost twice as much as this car. One thing noted about the 12c is that the clutch job on it cost roughly $30,000 from what I was told by another local Mac owner. I'm in no rush to buy a car at the moment because I still have to sell my Lotus Evora. If the price is right, I wouldn't mind adding another car to the stable. I just love the color combo on it and the styling of the LP bumper to go along with it. Rear glass hatch is also what I love in conjunction with the black accent. Cant have two exotics sitting in the garage because the boss lady at home be bitching saying no more toys so i'm only allowed to keep 1. Kienetic Report post Posted September 1, 2017 Not sure who, but the original owner is local in the Sacramento area. Was told he was some famous painter/artist. Probably the only information I have in regards to it.

Kienetic Report post Posted September 4, 2017 FYI no clutch job is 30k on pretty much any standard production car . My apologies, I've read too deep into my friend's text message in regards to the clutch. He specified that anything related to the engine or trans would be catastrophic because McLaren will not allow dealers to open it up and repair. It must be replaced entirely at around $30,000-40,000. Kienetic Report post Posted September 4, 2017 I realize you have been fed this info but it makes no sense at all . Probably, I've read mixed reviews on forums about them. Even talked to local Mac owners in regards to them and one of them specified that (Mac will not allow dealers to open up the engine) while the other claim it's more driver friendly than the Lambo/Ferrari, which explains why I was originally looking at them. As I said , it makes zero sense for Mclaren not to allow the motor to be fixed by a dealer and insist on replacing the whole unit . Sounds like total bullshit

Sounds like total bullshit That would be the first I have heard of it. Matter of fact, I think on the first one that I bought for my client, we had a pressure sender for the oil go bad. It had to be replaced. The engine I thought had to come out for it. It was pretty crazy, and thankfully covered under warranty. No new engine was installed though. Kienetic Report post Posted September 4, 2017 Just going by what I was told, hence the mixed reviews lol. That's why I'm also considering the Gallardos as another option to the list.
