Any alien civilization capable of interstellar travel will view us like ants and treat accordingly. Lucky, if we maintain the status of livestock.

Some scary concepts that I never considered before, like aliens being invisible to us. :lol2:

Seriously, why not? Let's consider something more "down to earth" (pardon the pun :) ) and that you can surely relate too --- RF.

You would concur that the working principles of RF is almost like Black Magic. Yes, RF isn't a life form whereas extraterrestrial beings are but looking at the RF, it's amazing that it actually works. Now if the aliens were capable of interstellar travels, what's stopping them to use their tech to create an optical illusion/distortion that can fool our sight? And why must they be in "solid physical forms" as we know it? Consider giving a toy walkie-talkie to a tribal villager in the South Pacific who had never made contact with modern civilizations, you stand 15ft away and speak to your walkie-talkie so that the villager can hear both your own voice and that which comes out of his walkie-talkie, imagine his reaction. Not a very dissimilar scenario if alien beings make their first contact with us.

...the amount of effort and energy just to come say hello just doesn't make sense. If anyone makes the effort to come over, they have to have a very clear purpose, that's why I think it would be bad news if someone makes contact with us. It's naive to think even an enlightened alien culture/civilization is completely benign, just as the US and Uk haven't been, no matter their intentions.

:iamwithstupid:

I am making assumptions based on "human rationale" of course but if they "think" like us, in all honesty, why would they even care about us given their technological superiority? Even in the most unlikely scenario that they simply want to send their greetings, consider the global pandemonium involved to which casualties are guaranteed. Highly doubtful they would want such a bad start. Their role would likely be as an observer more than anything else. I doubt they would be benevolent enough to give us some of their tech & knowledge unless we become subjects of their experiment of some sort (as afore-said, think lab rats). So if they were to make a purposeful/non-accidental contact, we likely won't be the beneficiary of such epic event.

Oh good Wheels is here so he can passively aggressive counteract everyone’s opinions with mind blowing nonsensical arguments, opinions which to begin with have no basis in reality because nobody has any concrete proof that what they are speculating and talking about is actually true, this will be fun!

Relax, just discussing the issue same as everyone else. And I emphasized that such things are just my opinion. That is part of the fun, people throw out ideas and discuss the validity of them. In the end as you said, we all have no real basis, but such discussion makes you think.

We have animal rights activists, so maybe the aliens would have human rights-activists :)

They also might not want to give us any technology given how warlike we are. Even our liberal democracies could collapse at some point and dictatorship take over.

I am very relaxed, you are counteracting points of view others are hypothesizing, very different IMO, most are educational yours are like “what if they are Nazi,s dude?? Or nasty Russians” LOL

Anyway carry on and let’s see how far we are going to get.

Fortis, if you go back and read my first post, you will see that I wasn't countering anybody's points, I was just stating my own opinions and that was that. Other people started countering my own hypotheses, and thus I debated back.

And on the aliens being like Nazis/Russians, you are oversimplifying what I said. I was agreeing in response to ameer who said that he wouldn't want aliens to make contact because he believes they'd most likely be violent, because he said any intelligent species is usually predatorial and the aliens would thus probably be like we humans in that sense. I was making the point that aliens could be just like humans with different cultures and civilizations, and we wouldn't want to run into the Nazi or Soviet Russia version of aliens but if there was a version of the aliens like the modern United States or United Kingdom, that could be fine. Don't see what is so crazy about that. It is just general discussion.

I never said anything about, "What if they are Nazis dude?" or "nasty Russians."

I will just blame topcabron for this one.

I think Tyson is overrated. There are encounters since Astronauts have first visited space that cannot be explained. The former Canadian Defense minister wrote a book about Alien Encounters when he retired.

I was going to post a similar thread with all of the news going on. Here is an interview of the FA-18 Hornet pilot from the encounter that took place in 2004.

INTERVIEW

My great uncle was a Master Chief Operations Specialist in the US Navy for many years. Everyday when I lived in San Diego, we'd kick back and have a beer and talk about things. The most intriguing conversation we had was about Aliens. He's definitely a believer he said. In the article above, it is mentioned that the US Navy ship at sea encountered air craft that were flying in impossible maneuvers. Nothing, and I meant nothing we have can rapidly ascend to 80,000 feet. My Uncle described encounters just like these. Another encounter he mentioned was that a craft in the 1980's flew across a huge radar screen, we're talking tens of thousands of miles per hour within a matter of seconds. He said that the object appeared faster than the SR71 BlackBird and faster than the space shuttle in the distance it covered on the screen. He also said, that the object became stationary-coming to a complete stop for a few seconds, and then on the next sweep disappeared from the map.

Skip through all the conspiracy theorist BS and you have some legitimate footage here:

Was anyone here in Arizona during the original "Arizona Lights Phenomenon?" There is a phenomenon called Ball Lightning, but this in no way resembles that.

The "Arizona Lights" have been thoroughly explained... Warthog flares.

If there is a creator or god, he must have a say in aliens and other life form no? :icon_mrgreen:

Absolutely. But if being rised in strict Jehovas Fitness family does not make me be sure about god then nothing will. (Pun intended) So I dont pursue that question in my life. Aliens seems too nerdy topic for me, I am not interested in them at all either but imho they just dont exist. Same thing as roleplaying and starwars fanatics, that world might exist to them but not for me, and talk too much about either of the three and we propably are not close friends.

If I had to bet I would say that there is god/creator because it seems nonplausible that everything on world/earth/living would be like this from series of happy accidents. But what I am sure is that not a single one religion represents anything else than some lunatic trying to gather masses to behave similarly and on the side getting rich by followers money.

Question - is there currently any kind of a discharge or heat signature or message strength that could be detected outside our galaxy from Earth? Not that signal we send out with the coordinates, but something that can go WOOP here, and can be detected within a short-ish period of time? What about within 200 years, what could make that happen?

Question #2 - does anyone have any hypothesis why corals release themselves on a specific full moon once a year? I just found out there is liquid magma inside the moon. So WTF?

Yes, definitely, not as far as another galaxy though, but it can be detected in a large area around us, but they'd have to have a way to detect if the heat is artificial or naturally occurring. Scientists proposed something similar in their search for intelligent alien life, using infrared telescopes, any advanced civilization that has sufficiently advanced industry will give off IR heat, actually everything that uses energy does. Any planet that produces more energy than provided by it's parent star, might be a candidate for an advanced alien civilization. Also there are radio waves that we have been emitting for around 80 years. THough those won't necessarily be detectable or distinguishable for very long, the signals are just too weak.

I read recently something about a project, that proposed studying our planet from outer space so we can better understand how to detect signs of industry/civilization elsewhere. Good idea imo.
