Definitely a replica, but looks close. About five years ago I had a V8 powered 917 replica similar to this fly by me in rush hour with a plate hanging on the back. I have a pic of it somewhere. Was pretty funny following and being stuck in stop and go with that rear end in front of me.

Here is the real 21.

Is that article stating that the car on the flatbed is the one above posted on the way back from Rennsport reunion?

No, the article is three years old. The car Emanon saw has side mirrors, lights are different, exhaust is completely different as far as routing/color/tips, rear lights hung different, front lights are different, bare frame vs. painted, decals different, grill, etc.

If it's the same car they changed a lot in the last three years.

Get outta here with all your facts and observations!!    haha.  I guess I need to look a tad closer, unless of course, that's the difference between the car going into the Porsche program as mentioned in the article and what comes out, as the article states the only changes they make are to safety equipment.   but im sure you are right....

I mostly assumed it was a replica if for no other reason than who the F would transport ~$15M worth of historic car on the back of a flatbed truck.  Regardless that car has some presence few could rival.

I didn't play the lottery, but if I would have won the Mega Millions, this would have been first on my list.

Agreed.

917 has to be the pinnacle of Porsche automobiles.
