cancelling US debt obligations stood out.. this is starting to smell like WW to anyone?

It already appears that CCP had withheld information, trying to contain a leak of information and not inform the worldwide community of the massive incoming problem. They should be held responsible for it. And financial impacts probably hold the most weight.

All joking aside, I don't read CNN very much, but do they not even try to hide their contempt and disdain of the Trump administration? :lol2:

Consider this fun bit of information!

Hydroxychloroquine is a readily available drug that is cheap and very effective treatment for Covid-19. It is a generic, off-patent and costs roughly .60 cents per dose. Here is a link to a document with 11 pages worth of Research Papers and Reports on it's success' in treatment. Really interesting stuff here if you like to lightly nerd out. Source: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1545C_dJWMIAgqeLEsfo2U8Kq5WprDuARXrJl6N1aDjY/preview

Now consider all the press about this new kid on the block. Remdesivir. This treatment shows promise, and is a non-generic by Gilead, that costs roughly $1,000 per dose and has been applied for patent by none other than, The Wuhan Institute of Virology. Feel like you're watching a movie yet?

Workers at the Smith-field plant that made the national news are returning Monday.  Look for the States numbers to spike again. And I wonder who all they will infect.

I hate China as much as the next guy at this point, but the Chinese Redesivir patent application was a use patent that they applied for in January in hopes they could start making it to fight COVID-19 in China. The patent is held by Gilead as you said, which is an American company. Gilead has also pledged to donate 1.5 million doses by September and their entire current supply. They are ramping up production as we speak.

You're 100% right. I saw that the use application hadn't been approved yet, but CCP was going to produce it anyways, which implied it was already stolen and the patent was just a lazy way of covering it. Speaking from ignorance, is it common practice for a company to produce something before being approved to do so on a licensed product?

Correct on Gilead being a American company, however in 2015 they teamed up with a Chinese Biotec company WuXi AppTec for mutual research, which could explain how they are able to produce it prior to getting the use app?

Ironically (and something I am VERY thankful for), the virus hasn't affected me much at all. I got laid off for two weeks, but then the machine shop I work for started getting various customers that have been deemed essential calling up for work to continue, so I've since been working full-time. The Boss (owner) said that certain things will slow down much more in the summer, so we will see. They require us to maintain a six foot minimum distance and provide masks if we have to get closer, and also alcohol-based spray to spray down one's work area.
