You will need to have someone (dealer in most cases) program the car after install. I would not add the alarm just to have the swith for towing. The immobilizer does a pretty good job. Turbo50Mike Report post Posted March 16, 2011 The alarm is worthless. Bluetooth is priceless. Check the Audi RSN-E forums...Should be lots of info on the radio and bluetooth options.

Hi guys Thanks for the input. Unfortunately an alarm is an Insurance requirement. Any thoughts on a plug and play option for The current immobilizer Thanks. fast1 Report post Posted March 29, 2011 On this topic, Mike (or anyone else), could you guys explain the factory alarm. Mine has one, and I noticed the little switch over there by the driver seat for it with two different images on it and wasn't sure what it does exactly. What are the different modes for it, and what things does it do that would make one not really care for it much? Thanks guys. Barry D. I don't even know...The factory alarm was a bit confusing...I think one mode is for towing?? The other disarms the alarm completely, I think... I just leave my doors unlocked anyway...If someone wants the car, just take it....

I generally park it where I can see it, and I'd come out smelling like a rose if it were stolen anyways thanks to good insurance. The key stays in my pocket so I guess they can flintstone it if they want it bad enough...
LAUTLOS Report post Posted March 30, 2011 > an alarm is an Insurance requirement Some insurance companies won't settle for an immobilizer or alarm, but require a tracking system. Which can be had from companies such as LoJack, GuidePoint, etc.
LAUTLOS Report post Posted March 30, 2011 > I don't even know...The factory alarm was a bit confusing...I think one mode is for towing?? The other disarms the alarm completely, I think... One button disables the tilt sensor, so that the alarm won't trigger when the car tilts during shipping. The other button disables the interior motion sensor, so that you can leave your significant other, or baby, or pet in the car without triggering the alarm. > I just leave my doors unlocked anyway...If someone wants the car, just take it.... To reduce the wear and tear from heat cycles, leave the engine running too! :-)
