  1. Anyone buy their own and do their own car?

I ordered cquartz ceramic applied it myself. Dropped car off with detailer for paint correction and then applied coating at home. The coating has made maintaining and washing the car much, much easier. The car does not appear to get as dusty as it did before the coating. Wish I made the switch away from sealants sooner.

It was not any more difficult to apply than a more “traditional” synthetic sealant that requires thin, even coats. The trick for me was getting in done early enough in the day to not be outside the recommended temperature range in Arizona. I think it got a little too warm near the end and some of the last areas I did have little streaks(that only I can see.)

The cquartz, or most any ceramic consumers can buy, does not have the longevity of professional products. Car looks great now, but having to go through the whole process again in a year or two makes me wonder if I would have been better off just paying a pro to do it for a longer lasting product.

  2. You were with a group of people on top of the hill?

Based on the location of the hot air balloon at the time of the eclipse I think that might be where you were.

We talked with a state trooper who mentioned that they were landing a private jet at the airport every two minutes.

Last minute hotels were going for up to $2,500 a night.

We allowed extra travel time, but the traffic from Gillette to Casper was a non issue.

We were on the south side of Casper, closest landmark (at least as described by the locals) was the the Walmart. There were a handful of us from the AirBNB that made the hike up the hill.

After reading the nightmare scenarios in Oregon, we decided to drive up very early on Saturday morning and were literally the only people on the road. Kept checking the GPS throughout the weekend to see drive times and they all looked normal into Casper. Looked the same way getting out of town and it took 12 hours, so I’m assuming the GPS just was not working like usual for that stretch. How bad was the delay getting into town?

Did you hear all the buzz in Casper about the “Saudi Prince that rented the steakhouse”? haha

  3. Spent the weekend in Casper, WY. Was really impressed with the job the town/county did to prepare. The, normally, 4 hour drive to DEN airport took 12 hours, but I (surprisingly) could not have cared less after just seeing a total solar eclipse.

We stayed just under a mile from the projected dead center path of totality, but decided to hike “away” from the center and up a small mountain/giant hill on our AirBNB host’s property. Very glad we did this to get a better view of the “360 degree sunset."

    Here are my blurry pictures!

  5. Been paying more attention to my surroundings on I-10 and the most scary thing is seeing so many people completely engrossed in their cell phone while driving. Aside from that, there is a noticeable increase in police presence on the freeways in downtown Phoenix and I don't know anybody that is actually avoiding the roadways because of the shooter.

Now, this jackass is out and about keeping our streets safe:

  6. I have to tell you, there are a few jobs that I think every single person in the world should have to do for a limited period of time, working in a restaurant and being a car sales person are two of those things.

Haha, served my time doing both...

I heard all sorts of stories about how terrible a lot of other salesmen were. Realized early on that most people came to the Cadillac store knowing what they wanted, what it cost and were really just shopping for a place that would treat them right.

However, its always surprising what a pain in the ass some people make it to spend money at their business...

  7. So... I'm going to come right out and say it... I think somebody else figured out what this guy did (actually, that's not a ::think:: that's a fact. Multiple people have written about this vulnerability)

I think that one of those "somebodies" were not geeky computer nerds who hack shit just to see if it can be done.... In fact I think they were terrorist oriented motherfuckers.

I think they hacked into this planes systems in a systematic way to kill comms, and then take the plane... And I think they may have even made the systems send out false info to throw the eventual search parties in the wrong direction.... And then drove this fcuking plane somewhere where it wouldn't be found. Why? Maybe so that the vulnerabilities they discovered and exploited in this dry run, wouldn't be fixed. I mean as it is, we have lots of pilots on here who are still screaming "this isn't possible". Bad news. It's possible. And that means they could pull of a "Bojinka" style attack, all at once without the difficulty and unpredictability of using explosives.

you think they landed the plane somewhere or ditched it at sea?

  8. First - Floyd said he'd be up for a rematch, and there were some talks of that.

    Now, this:

Goes to show Mayweather's ego is bigger than another eventual $100+ mil payday. Then again, if I had made over $600mil in my lifetime, was undefeated and one cushy fight away from retirement I probably wouldn't want to square off against a real opponent like Pacquiao either. Only time will tell...

  9. Don't get me wrong, I too love ridiculous high HP machines in their own right but the guy is right, they're mostly one trick ponies past a certain point. A silly Hellcat is one thing, a GT3 RS something else.

I think its funny that the Hellcat does nothing for my muscle car friends... just seems like a waste with all that power in a big bulky car
