  1. i have a '94 512TR and i enjoy driving it. just don't expect it to be a canyon carver or switch lanes with ease. it is more of a grand tourer with a sporty feel from the 80's. maybe my expectations for the car were so bad that i now find the car rather amusing and quite a character.

once everything is working properly, it is a joy to drive on the highway and sweeping roads. the sound of the mechanical v12 with tubi is something you will not get with modern cars.

goodluck. it's a car i don't regret buying because quite frankly it is easy to operate.

  2. when i was watching the tech sync the throttle bodies thru LDAS, i saw him adjust a line graph with 2 lines representing the 2 banks while the car was on idle. you could clearly see that the 2 banks were not idling in-sync. all he had to do was drag one of the lines to synch with the correct idle speed and that was it. he didn't touch a bar graph as shown by allan in a previous picture.

make sure also that the TBs are clean. even minimal carbon along the edges of the butterfly and TB can cause the idle hunting.

  3. There is no sight glass. The system holds 1.5lbs R134a.

the manual states 850g. when i put that, the a/c didn't even get cold. i had to add about 400g to get cool. why does the owner's manual say only 850g?

  4. I see them more and more. It was love at first sight for me honestly. The sound, the looks, the interior and just the fact that it's different than all the 911s, Caymans, SLs, etc out there.

that's exactly why i like it. it may not be the best performer but it has more character especially for the price point

  5. MP4 is a good deal and has a fantastic ride. However for a DD, ingress/egress is a little more difficult and has limited boot space.

i just bought an F-type R coupe. it might be too cheap for what you are considering but it is a gorgeous car, lovely to drive, and a very good DD. it's something to consider and is seriously out of the box for much less money.

  6. U'r looking at this as a MAYWEATHER fight. I'm looking at this as 2 boxers and one is the champ and the other is the challenger, not considering names. & in order for the challenger to win he has to convincingly beat the champion. Maidana came up short.

Both of them are champions, this was a unification bout so there's no champ and challenger. Still, I have no issue with FM winning because he did more in the second half to get the victory. But I thought it was close. I had it a draw or at the very most FM up by 2rounds -that is being too gratuitous already. I don't understand how the 2 judges scored it 117-111 and 116-112. Clearly there is too much bias.

But after watching this fight, I don't understand how a lot of people can think that Pacman has no chance against FM. I'm pretty sure Pacman is faster, smarter and has more stamina than Maidana. I seriously think FM will have a hard time with Pacman. And it would be nice to see a fighter unify as much belts possible in a weight division.

  7. really weird but probably your car is making much more power. our conditions here and fuel quality have a negative effect on the performance compared to US cars. i was running the 93 octane map by Torrie. i think my FGT is running ok since it has beaten another FGT on the same mile event with similar mods but has the Heffner tune.

as you can see my FGT was ahead until I shifted into 5th gear and it is only then that the MP4 caught up and passed it going about 300kph. but at that time my MP4 still had the original power of 592hp. for comparison the 60-130 vbox of my FGT was 7.2 and at that time was dead even with the MP4. however, after the update to 616hp, the MP4 now vbox'd at 6.9.

anyway, good run. just a little perplexed at the markedly different outcomes.

  8. Finally received my SLS BS. What a fantastic looking car. It got so many compliments it's unbelievable. I think more so than my Lamborghini or Mclaren or any other car I have owned. Perhaps with exotics, people already think that the owner realises it's a good looking car, but with the SLS BS, they make sure to go out of their way to let you know. I can see people stare at it from their cars at a stop light. Well, you can dress up an SLS after all.

It's still the break in period but I have taken it quite fast in short bursts. The car gets moving and ready to pounce at any given moment. Steering is direct with very good feel (although the steering is still a little soft to turn -good for city driving). The suspension is extra firm but not jarring. It makes it known to the driver that it is a serious car. The CCB is strong and has an aggressive initial bite. I can't really fault the car with anything. The best way to describe is like coming from a 911 Carrera S (SLS) to a GT3 RS (SLS BS). The difference is just like that. The engine is amazing and power delivery is strong. Makes a nice engine and exhaust note. The car has a lot of character and balance built into it. I think MB nailed it on this vehicle.

  9. here is a video compilation of our runs. many botched runs with the aventador practicing, being in strada mode, a misshift while i had one run in the wrong gear - i tried to take off at 2nd gear to avoid wheelspin but that didn't work. after it's all said and done, the MP4 edges the aventador by a nose up to 240kph. but it seems that the conditions must be very consistent for the aventador to remain that close (e.g. take off at around 50km/h @5500rpm). if you do a rolling start from anything under 50km/h then the lead of the MP4 becomes substantial -which surprised us. hope fully in the future we can do a mile run and see how the 2 cars go to 300km/h. cheers.

  10. That came with a caveat as the next phrase mentioned "in the wet" or something to that effect. Drove the FF and saw it run during our mile event - let's just say it was really slow compared to other cars and was disappointing as everyone was expecting more, at least from a straight line power perspective.

  11. yeah it doesnt really matter because the cars serve different purposes, but I am glad both cars are fast and I enjoy that aspect of them.

I completely agree with you and Fortis. I just mention these things as a point of comparison between cars done by myself and close friends that own the vehicles. It's all in good fun. I'm really hoping to get a go against an f12. Unfortunately no one in my car group has one yet.

  12. Interesting.. My dealer (Lambo N Los Angeles) actually recommended and mounted them for me them when I bought the car as I didn't want the 6 yr old original tires. Should I be concerned? It's listed as a matching tire on Discount Tires site as well:

Take a look at the actual tire diameter of the PS2 and you will notice quite a variance front to back from the Rosso. Still, it's just a warning as I have not heard of any awd system failing due to tires but I've also not come across any owner using PS2. I'm sure the dealer may have had experience with it for them to recommend the tires.
