  1. The two interior lights have lenses that rocker, but I tried them to see if rockering them would turn the interior light on or off. It didn't make a difference on my car, maybe mine are missing a part or are broken. If I remove the lens and rotate it 180 degrees and re-install it, it no longer rockers. Can you take a picture of one of your lights without the lens so I can see if mine are missing a piece? I found a switch on the central cluster that turns on the interior lights. I will also check the operation of the door switches tomorrow.

    Thanks

that light is a rocker switch, press one side of the light and turns on, press the other side and it turns off, at least that is what is in my 91

  2. Anyone know if there is a switch for the front compartment light? My car is a 92. I'm going through the car installing LED's and noticed that the compartment light in the Amp frame stays on when any of the light buttons are turned on, headlights, park lights , etc. I could not find anything on my wiring diagrams or in my owners manual. Is there a switch build into the hood latch that turns it off when the compartment hood is closed?

    Thanks

  3. EyeDoc,

I'm in the process of building a garage/show space right now as well. I decided to go with a roll up door, instead of the standard track door. It's super quiet, made of steel, and insulated, which would be good for your Utah winters. I agree with the exhaust fan idea. I'm having mine wired so that when the big door opens, the fan will come on automatically for a preset length of time to clear the exhaust gases out. The fan size should be selected based on getting a certain number of air exchanges every hour, I think mine was 6 exchanges per hour. Don't forget to have a vent installed to allow make-up air back into the garage, to replace what is being blown out. I also had 4 Velux Solar powered opening skylights installed to let in natural light and to vent out hot air in the summer. They have solar powered blinds on them, if you want to block out the light, just push a button on the remote control. While my garage was in the framing stage, I had it wired for speakers and a home theater system. Not sure what your plan is for wall construction, but since we get cold winters here too, I had the walls framed 9.75" thick with a total of R40 insulation, also added a layer of Styrofoam to create a thermal break, then double layer of drywall for some extra sound proofing. Good luck with your project. Keep the forum updated with pics as you progress.

  4. I have not got my stock 92 calipers rebuilt, but I can tell you that if yours are stock 91 calipers, they will be made by ATE not Brembo.

    All,

Has anyone gotten there Diablo brake calipers rebuilt? If so from who? Was it expansive? What is involved? Has anyone done it them self?

What Brembo part number are they and what size are the pistons?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    CCIE

  5. Yes, that helps a lot, I plan on doing the upgrade to the Brembos later this year. Do you have to split the caliper apart to accommodate the thicker rotor? If so, any tips on doing it? Or is it straight forward?

On the back side of the parking brake caliper there are 5 Allen head bolts that have to be removed (I recommend removing the calipers from the car by disconnecting it from the parking brake cable threaded rod). Once the 5 Allen head bolts are removed the aluminum cover can also be removed (careful not to damage the sealing gasket) and there you will come across a white plastic cap that is the cover for ratcheting mechanism for the caliper. Remove this white cap, should pop off easily and then put a flat edge into the winder and turn it back counter clockwise.

    Hope this helps.

  6. bxtech, I have a 92 with the high dash pod as well and also wished that I could make it smaller. Then I contacted Glen at AMH Exotic Parts and bought all the parts to do the conversion to the 94 and newer lower dash. Haven't done the conversion yet, will do it next winter. If you need a list of parts to do the conversion, let me know.

Thanks very much for the info! I had no idea that the instrument pod was adjustable. I'm gonna give it a try. I wish it could make the instrument pod smaller too.....as I have the huge early style one. Thanks again, i really appreciate it!

Thanks also to everyone else who replied.

  7. That is the button for adjusting the angle of the instrument dome. The dashboard height is adjustable. Manually move the instrument pod, while keeping the knob pressed upwards. See page 37 of the owners manual for a diagram.

I found this switch, button, pin switch type thing under my dashboard on my 1991. I can't figure out what it does. Seems like there's some type of tube on the backside of it. Anyone know what this is? It looks factory. Here's a pic with a yellow arrow pointing at it:

  8. I like the pop ups. +1 on the PS work. While you are doing your PS magic, can you add some new Huracan wheels to the Diablo to see what is looks like?

    Cheers

I'd be curious to see what it would look like with the flip-ups on :lol2:

Nice work in the PS department though!

  9. Indeed a great set up!! Where I live the weather gets into negative 20s at times, and these metal roll up doors can't be used for insulation. May not even meet building codes I'm afraid. Love the fact it free up the ceiling for a cleaner set up!

my next house, my garage will have the right set up. I'm in my first house that I've bought. Decent for a starter home.

The friend of mine who bought the roll-up door lives in Edmonton, Alberta, where it gets down to -40. He bought the insulated version of the roll up door and claims that it is better insulated than his standard insulated tracked door, he said that he thought it was rated at R27, with 26 gauge steel construction. It does meet all building codes in Canada, but their site states that they have sold them all over North America. For extreme cold I have seen insulated door blankets at Home Depot that can hang over the inside of the door when the door is not used to extend the R value.

  10. Hi Toofdoc,

Beautiful garage, you have inspired me to customize my garage. My friend just had a new garage door installed which cleaned up his garage ceiling 100%. it's a metal residential roll up door, built in motor, NO tracks, any color or size, pretty reasonable in price. I have no affiliation to the door company. http://www.smartgarage.ca/ I'm sure there is a similar product available in the USA. With today's exchange rate, just saying....

  11. I believe that the only calipers on a 92 that are made by Brembo, are the the park brake calipers. Front and rear calipers on a 92 are made by ATE. You may luck out and find someone who upgraded to a big brake kit and is willing to sell you their originals, but I keep all my originals stored away, just in case I ever want to return my car to original.

You can try contacting Glenn at AMH Exotic Parts, he is a sponsor here, and has always provided me with exceptional service. I would think that Glenn can get you a rebuild kit and any local mechanic shop could rebuild your caliper, as long as the caliper is not cracked or damaged. Do you know why it needs a caliper? Before you order the rebuild kit, have a look at your brake pads, you may want to order a set of those at the same time, if yours are worn out.

The Diablo I'm buying needs a driver's side rear caliper. Anyone know where I can source one new or used? Or who would you recommend for a rebuild? Thanks!

  12. Rhyno,

Love the color, Bravo wheels would look awesome, looking forward to hearing about the EZ-steering. Did you order the EZ from the States?

    +1

I have to admit I'm not a fan of the white intakes on the side and the vents at the rear, neither the color coded taillight surrounds ... it is different and I admire your courage for it, but I would just tint the entire taillight, surround included and make all the black parts shine in clear carbon fiber.

The blue accents on the white wheels are a nifty touch however, do like that.

  13. Did you check the gap on the phase sensors? Should be 0.7 - 1.0mm

Did you check the fuel pressure and fuel volume from both pumps?

Does Mike have the "Lamborghini console" p.n. 9250157 ? (page B132 - 26) this would allow him to select the data from 7-12 bank

In section B132 of the Service manual page 51 - page 64 there are diagnosis procedures, does Mike have "Lamborghini test box" (mentioned on page 51) to complete the 42 tests listed?

  14. Hi Sudesh,

I feel your pain, being without your car for so long. I noticed in one of your other write ups that you replaced the connectors for the phase sensors and temp sensors. Is there any way that the wires were put into the connector reversed? It would be easy to do. When you say that you checked the vacuum hoses, did you check for vacuum leaks or confirm that they were all connected according to the vacuum diagram? At work years ago, one of the mechanics had two vacuum hoses switched by mistake and the van failed our Government smog test. 3 other mechanics replaced lots of sensors, etc but failed to figure it out. The final guy who was given the job, got out the manual and started comparing factory pics and drawings and noticed the error. On my car I found that someone previous to my ownership put on new vacuum hoses to the fuel regulators, but had the 1-6 regulator plumbed to the 7-12 throttle body and vise-versa. One of our lead mechanics told me a story about a time they had a piece of equipment that had a hose de-laminate inside, the little flap would flip down under full pressure and block the hose. Unlikely, I know, but at this point anything is likely.

Best of luck, hope you get it figured out soon.

  15. I understand, I am terrible at taking photos myself, your car looks stunning, I am looking forward to seeing pro shots when you get around to it.

Here is one, pre Hercules wheels, taking my Dad out for his first ride in the car, after a 1200km road trip

Just to be upfront, this is not my house, and no that is not a 7 car garage, it actually has 2 levels, an elevator for cars and holds 22 cars, motorhome and boat.
