What is the VIN of your car? XLA12438?
-
Nice! What is the VIN of your car? must be JLA12xxx.
-
Yeah I like the pop-up headlights too; more sleek looking, no doubt. But I really wanted this dash, otherwise I'd have just gone with an early Diablo for alot less $.
All of these mods I did - understand that I just wanted to do something really different without the gaudiness that the Japanese tuners do to Diablo. I wanted Lamborghini parts and stylings. I have all of the original parts and either all at once or over time will change things back, just wanted something really different for now.
As for the wheels - well I had to see if I could do it. This is the hardest wheel fitment that I've ever heard of. Front wheels had to have the pad shaved down to the very minimum safe level and wheels are still right at the fender edges; I'd have preferred them 1/2" inboard. Had to weld then re-drill for bolt pattern. Rear wheels even harder: hubcentric spacer/adaptors to add offset plus change the bolt pattern was the easy part. But we had to make the wheels 1 1/2" wider. That's a feat. Notwithstanding getting a set of Mimas wheels. It all worked out though; rides perfectly smooth.
On their own - I love them with those skinny, angular spokes. They show the brakes beautifully - better than any Diablo wheel style could. So to me they're very exotic. But I will admit that the first time I saw them actually on the car, I was like WTF. I'm good now and going to stay with them for awhile. Have both SV wheels and even LP670SV wheels which are a straight bolt-on, so there are options down the road.
Oh - and Allan - your buddy Marco did some nice work on the car including cleaning the injectors plus some other tuning. He saved me having to buy some injectors. He talked about the things you guys did with your last SV.
Can you share the VIN of your car? I think its not XLA12262 right?
-
Not sure if you know that, but during MY99 Diablo production (from XLA12200 // engine number 2219) they changed something on the airintake and engine heads.
Maybe your mechanic had troubles because of this reason.

Your words 'hardly doubt' do not make clear your position, but given the overall tone of your post I'll assume that you feel that what I've written is untrue. However other than conjecture, you've provided no proof to the contrary.I am providing you with my actual experience as well as the words of the franchised Lamborghini dealer who sold the parts. He would have no reason to lie about what the factory told him. I'm not selling my car now nor any time soon, so at this point the selling price is meaningless to me. I'm merely sharing something interesting on an otherwise very boring board (of-late).

I hardly doubt that this car has a SVR engine.
From MY98 they started with the Valve timing management engines, so why should they put old engines in a MY99?
Also XLA12262 has a VTM engine, see attached.
It´s one of many myths which people and owners excogitate to make their cars more valuable...
Btw i own Lamborghini Diablo SV MY99 too, one of the earliest MY99 SV exists.
How do you determine whether your sv has an svr engine? -
June 2017 Carbon Dashboard version 2 (full carbon)
After my first attempt at covering aluminium in carbon didn't have the finish I wanted, I decided to try and make it in full carbon instead.
It took a few attempts, and here's the parts before fitment..
And as the cigarette ash tray was badly scratched, and I don't smoke, I took the liberty of making a tray to replace it on my 3D printer..
This redesign goes back to the single DIN design of the original setup, and I have purchased a flip up Pioneer navigation/AV system to replace the double DIN Parrot Asteroid Smart I'd previously fitted.
Awsome David!

See pix. I don't know.Story is that there are several cars in the collection including an old Cadillac that the collector wants to sell, all at once.

What is the price for the 25th?
may I you suggest this one? it has 400 miles, 651 km.It's in Italy, just inspected by my self: time capsule, like new, unrestored, freshly serviced.
ciao

I assume it´s blue scuro!

Your car in european glory! I would prefer that spec.

Leo
My SVR restoration is almost complete. Time to do the livery, which I have a bit of problem deciding on.The car has been restored and I have been certified with FIA historic certification. She is entered in next year's '90s GT Legends series in Europe for all events.
As soon as the livery is finished, I'll be doing countless track days to familiarise myself with her. Then full mechanical restoration again before she gets shipped to Europe early next year where she'll spend the whole year.
The dilemma I am facing is which livery to use. The orange/black #16 livery is what she used in Europe when she won the championships there.
The 666 livery is what she used in Australia for the Nations Cup GT championships, where she became the star car of the series and VERY well known.
I think the 666 livery looks infinitely better, but shouldn't I do the orange/black livery since that is what she was known with in Europe?

Roy offered a SE30 wheels set in the last months. If you have luck it´s still available.
Regards,
Leo
I was thinking the exact same think. SE30 wheels on yours.... man. or even roadsters... Hmm.. you know.. Diabloz has some roadsters I bet he might trade for the stocks... can't imagine how you guys would get that sorted being 4k miles apart.. lol -
I have also a 99 SV. Where are you from?
I have a '99 SV - RWD from the factory so no driveline issues with running slightly bigger fronts. -
boss level!!
same car..... with me -
First zinc plating and than powder coating is the best solution imo.
You will never have rust problems!
-
Looks like Strosek wheels. I´m not sure but i think the car is still in Germany but repainted in original black color.
If someone has pictures with the interior it would confirm my guess.
How about the wheels? Perhaps prototypes ? -
-
The "OZ Racing" decals for the Diablo wheels are also available.
As you can see i reproduced alot so if anybody need some let me know.
Also the door stop decals are available thru me.
They are simliar as possible to the originals!
I´m perfectionist and can´t see a difference.

Thanks for your help! I will think about it... sounds like a lot of work!
I also believe the center piece needs to come out too.I did the following all at the same time:
refinish emblem
refinish repair center aluminum trim
rewire fan switching
strip and refinish fan shrouds
strip and refinish aluminum slat vents
clean and reset back up lights
clean and polish rear light assembly
check radiator cores.

Not sure the painted sticker is not just a actual sticker that has been clear coated over the top, someone was saying, but not sure it could be true, anyone confirm?
I went big sticker and hate myself already for not just getting someone to make me one, ridiculous and totally unjustifiable cost even in the big mark up world of supercars
On IAA Frankfurt i had a conversation with a guy from Lamborghini. He told me you can order without SV stickers, with SV stickers (decal) or SV logo painted and later with clear coat. But with SV logo painted you have always a problem if you want to repaint your fenders because of scratches or any other damage.
I would go with SV stickers in black for light colours and for dark colours silver stickers.
But a dark grey SV and orange or yellow stickers would look also nice

Do you have maybe pictures from the removal?
-
Thanks Geno for the advice!
But i will get the shrouds out of the car where the rear grills left and right are stitting normally?
(where the fans are sitting)
Not thru the engine bay right? because there are some frame panels.
Sounds like a lot of work....
Regards,
Leo
Yes those lower bolts just sit there and rust, the hardest ones are the inboard lower boltsRemove the rear deck lid, and exhaust shroud, then remove the two inner bolts holding the radiator in place. You also need to remove the inner wheel well liner, and loosen the bolts that hold the upper air routing shroud. Once that upper air routing shroud is loose, you can push it forward a few inches. With this done, you can (very carefully) lever the radiator forward enough to a) remove those lower inboard bolts and then remove fan shroud out the rear.
Good luck!

Great David, hope my pictures helped a bit. Which rivets do you used for the undertray panels?
From factory these are black alloy/steel or black plastic rivets...
Funny is we can´t find them in the parts manual.
Larger wheels?

AFAIK that should not be a problem to use 18" on your car. The MY98 VT version swapped to 18" too. Just make sure you use 235 front tires.
