  1. Performante is a fantastic car. But a couple issues for a track day user after interviewing the owners:

    - How to get racing seats and belts (and roll bar) for the car? You cannot fix belts with the stock buckets. Makes zero sense Lambo is not offering them compared to all Porsche GT cars where Clubsport package is a no-cost item. And, even though it does not suit the car's style I would be okay to install an aftermarket race seat, but the bigger problem is the airbag error with Recaro/Sparco etc., you cannot use a typical resistor to fix the error as the original seat has a weight sensor built in. How to solve this issue? No point lapping this type of car without proper belts.

    - How to get enough camber for the Trofeo R's, I have heard you can get some more by installing shims for the lower control arms but not enough? What is your experience and solution for this? Otherwise, it's just half a day and your tires are destroyed.

    - Where to get upgraded brake pads? I heard the brake pads are gone in a half a day if you are pushing. Does any company make race pads for these particular brakes, or could some of the proper brake pad companies provide us a ceramic brake friendly pad option if we send the original pads for measurements? Also, could someone have a look how much a set of original pads costs, don't have any clue if they are priced at 500 or 5000. The ceramic rotor cost....maybe I don't want to hear that but let me know :eusa_sick:

I'm okay a car that fast eats a lot of tires and brakes, but if I have to spend change tires and brakes twice a day it's too much. Is the car a one-lap hero or can you do track days with the car?

Thanks for any input or experience!

P.S. Seems I joined this forum in February 2005 and it took almost 13 years for my first post! :icon_mrgreen:

I was told that if I was going to track my HP that I should immediately switch out to steel rotors. A replacement set of ceramic rotors is 14K. That’s what a reputable Motorsport shop told me.k

  2. My BS meter is pegged.

What really happens quite often is that cars are damaged while being shipped and transported, and get repainted at the port by Guido's Fix-All Brands. The dealers will know nothing about this since it is still in the manufacturer's hands. Most people won't notice, and the ones who do? Well, it's the dealer's job to hold hands and put out fires. That translates to: make up any story that sounds good, especially the "it's a foreign exotic built by Magic Elves in the Black Forest, what do you expect?"

I'd bet $100 that's what happened. The car was damaged during transit, it was repainted at port, and went on its way to the dealer, who knew nothing about it until the paint pulled off the car.

This literally happens *all the time*. A friend ordered a new black 488 on which *every single panel* was a different shade of black: blue-black, green-black, grey-black, with various stages of color sanding such that none of the surfaces matched. He didn't know much about paint so he didn't notice, but I did. My own 488 was so far off color on the front bumper I paid to have it repainted. It wasn't defective mind you, if Ferrari allowed a 10% variance in shade it was 9.99%, while most cars are 3-4%. Most people won't see paint abnormalities (until it pulls off the car), which is why the industry can do this as normal practice.

This sounds very plausible. My dealership may not have a clue. But they are ready to remedy the situation at whatever cost.

  3. Thank you guys for the excellent recommendations. I spoke to the dealership today and kind of hinted at something fishy going on. They assured me that “it was probably Luigi dripping sweat into his paint job.” He insisted that this car was hand painted and they just missed it on QC. I find this interesting because I spotted the exact location of the defect the minute I got the car home and under good lighting in my garage. The XPEL guys documented the exact spot as well prior to installing any film. We both assumed the wrap would conceal the spots but it actually magnified them.

The plan is to finish wrapping the car and return it to me the first of next week. I’ll then attend my track events and drop the car off immediately after at a body shop of Lambo’s choosing in 2 weeks. At that point they’ll take the wrap off and respray the hood.

I’m torn at this point on what to do. I’ll for sure make a phone call or two to Destructo’s contacts.

If you guys recall my original posting after receiving my car, it was a video of my car being unloaded from the shipping truck and being unwrapped. This defect was either overlooked at QC or fixed at port.

  4. Hence my recommendation to measure paint thickness.

A friend purchased a brand new vehicle (not a lambo) and was found to have had an accident at factory that was not disclosed. Manufacturer and dealer went out of their way to give a brand new vehicle with every single bell and whistle. It was paint thickness measurements that showed the entire front of vehicle was resprayed ....

Exact same thing happened to my friends M3. It was sold to him with 6 miles on the odometer but the driver’s side door and front quarter panel had been resprayed after a transport guy wrapped it around a pole. He noticed it had been resprayed well over a year after purchasing. When he approached the dealership they replaced it with a brand new car two years newer.

  5. I wonder if your car was damaged during transport and repainted by your dealer. Who claimed to fix the issue? Dealer or Lambo HQ?

My dealer called saying something to the effect of “Lamborghini is going to fix this. This happens quite often with these cars because they’re hand painted.”

  6. So, I took delivery of my 2018 HP a couple of weeks ago (Balloon White). It has rained nonstop for 2 weeks so I’ve only driven it 2 times. One of those times was home from the dealer and then once to the body shop to have XPEL stealth wrap and ceramic coat. Well, I just got a call from Lambo explaining that my car was hand painted from the factory and that while they were wrapping it at XPEL they had to remove the film because they found spots that looked like dirt or debris that was under the wrap. During the removal process apparently the paint started lifting. Lambo stated this was common(because of the hand painting) and have agreed to remedy the situation. I’m obviously grateful for this but it pisses me off to no end that I’m now going to be without my car for weeks to a month when I’ve got track days and events scheduled in the coming weeks. Have any of you guys experienced anything like this with your new Lambo’s?
