  1. So did we talk you out of it?

Funny you ask. I just put a deposit down on a 911 Turbo S today. I drove a bunch of cars over the past couple of weeks and it was the one I kept coming back to. I will say the Gallardo is the first car I've sold where there was a part of me that didn't want to part with it. In the end, Destructo's advice kept ringing in my head - It's just a car and they made 14,000 of them. If I miss it too much, I can always come back. Maybe even to the LP560. Thanks to all for the advice.

  2. Do you know if Murci's got an update? To the OP..the problem with owning a Lamborghini is....NOTHING...can replace it. After owning a Lambo everything feels like a downgrade. I look at the Murci it looks like a jet...or even a G coming down the road....nothing matches them.......

    I know, that's the dilemma.

I've got a few more cars to add to the test drive list. I've driven the Bentley before and it just felt like a boat to me. I'd prefer something a little more agile.

  3. Seriously thought about a 612 a one time for this very reason. Always wanted to take the kids along. My other choice was a GTR, but the ride was too rough for them. Don't know how you would manage to fit the kids in the back of a 911.

I will have to add the 612 to my list. One of my friends had one years ago and I never even thought about it.

  4. I've had my 2004 Gallardo for over 4 years now and have absolutely loved it. Lately, however, I've been thinking about switching to something else. I've been looking at the 911 Turbo S, Nissan GT-R, Audi R8, and Ferrari F430.

I test drove a 2012 911 Turbo S today and was amazed by the car but it just doesn't make my heart skip a beat like the Gallardo did when I first got it. It is ridiculously fast and handles more like a go kart. As far as driving, it's a huge upgrade. It's a certified preowned so it would be under warranty until 2018. If it looked like the Gallardo, it would be a no brainer, but I guess it would be a McLaren or 458 then and cost close to $200K.

I've already got one kid with another on the way and love the idea of being able to take both of them and my wife in the car together. I feel like I don't get to drive the Gallardo as much because the three of us can't go together. Not to mention I'm also less likely to take it everywhere because of the attention it gets. On the way to the dealer and back today there were no less than 20 people taking pictures of the car and I was stopped by someone at the gas station to talk about the car. This definitely has it's plusses and minuses. Last week i picked my 2nd grade nephew up from school as a reward for doing well in school and it was so much fun to see all the kids' faces light up.

Am I crazy to think about trading in my car for the 911 Turbo? Anyone else do it and regret it? Any other cars I should be looking at?

  5. no prob..

it all depends on your situation. if the house your living in cost 1.5mil to payoff that leaves 750k for each and the child has many years left. plus you have to figure C.O.L. increases into the equation. so going back to our example if a healthy 26 year old pays $250mo. for 2 mil of no lapse life insurance and dies at age 82, they paid in 162k and the policy paid 2mil of a GUARANTEED TAX FREE death benefit. I don't know of any guaranteed investments that have that kind of return.

That is a better return than I would have expected. Every financial planner I have ever talked to has also said to buy term and invest the difference. Thank you for the education. Back to your healthy 42 year old example, how much would a guaranteed $5mil policy cost?

  6. My gf surprised me this morning with a trip to Chicago for my upcoming 30th birthday next week end. She woke me up this morning, had mimosas out and cooked me a nice breakfast at 5:30am. :) we flew here earlier to Chicago and we thought of going to the Bulls vs Pacers game tomorrow. To the locals, what's the best way to get a decent deal on a pair of tickets. Is Stub Hub the best? Or should I go for last minute scalpers close to the arena? Thanks!

Stubhub and craigslist are your best bet. There will be scalpers outside the stadium, but people get desperate on craigslist the closer you get to the game, usually resulting in better deals. If you're looking for good seats, Stubhub offers the best selection. Hope that helps.

  7. Going to go ahead and dust this thread off in preparation for the 3 peat. With the offseason acquisitions of Michael Beasley and Greg Oden, no way anyone takes it to us this year...

Going to go as far as saying that Chicago's 1995-1996 NBA record for most wins in a season of 72-10 is in jeopardy this year. Game 1 against Chicago at home should be a good test of D. Rose's knee

Here we go again! The Heat are not going to win 72 games or a championship this year. I hope you're not counting on Oden or Beasley too much. It's telling when no one else in the league seems to want someone.

  8. How did he not? If GZ was just as innocent as everyone believes then how come TM didn't act like a thug at the convenience store and just beat the clerk out of the blue or any other person he crossed that evening? The point I'm trying to make is, I think don't think TM just started foaming at the mouth and attacked GZ for no reason.

Didn't the 911 operator say that Zimmerman was out of breath from chasing Martin? Wasn't there also a neighbor who said Zimmerman was on top of Martin when the shooting occurred? It seems to me the provocation stems from Zimmerman stalking him despite the operator telling him not to. Regardless of who you think was right, there was no winner in any of this.

  9. It's time for new tires on my 2004 Gallardo and I'm curious what the rest of you do for tires. I've heard really good things about the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Anyone use them on the Gallardo? Any other tires you'd recommend or do most people just go with the OEM Pirelli's? Also, do you just go to the dealer to get them or do you trust independent shops to do the work and get them from a place like Tire Rack? Thanks for the advice.
