  1. I had chicken pox as child, I had a shingles outbreak at 42. It is fcuking awful. It feels like you are being electrocuted. I won't take addictive painkillers so recovery was extremely painful. I also suffered from postherpetic neuralgia (continued nerve inflation) which is the gift that keeps on giving for another 8 months. I was over stressed due to a bs lawsuit that threatened my business. Upside is I hired a trainer (gla referral, thx), lost 25 pounds, beat the lawsuit for a minimal nuisance settlement and I now feel much better. Wake up call for me.

Just wanted to add a quick note.

All the posts so far have been pretty accurate:

Chicken Pox and Shingles are the same virus. Once you have chickenpox, or adult Herpes Zoster, the virus lies dormant in your spinal cord. If your immune system weakens from stress, fatigue, or any other cause, the virus starts to replicate and grows along the sensory (pain) nerves. This is why it occurs in unusual strips or patches, which are the nerve distribution patterns (dermatomes)

Vaccine helps, but is not a guarantee you won't contract shingles.

The main reason I am adding this post is that I wanted to advise anyone who develops shingles to consider talking to your own doctor, and starting GABAPENTIN (Neurontin). There is pretty good evidence this can reduce the change of Post Herpetic Neuralgia dramatically.

Post Herpetic Neuralgia is severe (!) persistent (!!) pain that occurs because of inflammation of the affected nerve. It can last for years.

Gabapentin has side effects, but when you look at the balance of risks vs benefits, its something to consider.

Disclaiimer: I am not offering medical advice to any particular individual, just transmitting commonly known medical knowledge which is available through typical review of literature.

  2. I have a new 50" plasma as well as a 50" LCD. (Also a 72" DLP Rear Projector).

Hands down the best image is the plasma....LCD is close, but there is something about it that isn't quite right. Mine is fairly new (bought this spring), and has a high response/refresh, but it still looks kind of smeared sometimes.

  3. GBGallardo, the rims really do look great on the car.

Valve stem is an easy fix....you're supposed to change it every time you change tires. I dont think you even need a "lamborghini" valve stem, as I am not aware of any proprietary system.

Chips shouldnt be too hard of a fix either, like the above posters said.

  4. Looking for a set of Cassiopeas or Callistos. With or without tires. PM me your offers!

I bought a set of Titanium Casseiopia rims with OEM Pirelli Corsa Tires (Superleggera factory tires) for my Gallardo to use on the track, but never used them.

They're completely new, unused, and speed balanced. Bought them from Manhattan Motorcars.

If you're interested, I can send you pix or post pix...

  5. I just got the back set. Would you consider selling the front set for $400? I paid $430 US for the back set-new with dust bags.

Just noticed you posted. Sorry didnt get back to you.

You got an awesome deal on the back set! Wowee!

Sorry, though, can't break up either set or even come close to that price.

    Thanks though!

Here's a pic of the used set. New ones still in plastic and dust bags.

  6. DAMN!

Damn I'm asking too much? Or Damn I should ask for more?

I just don't use these things at all and they are taking up space.

I have idea about the current value of these things....

BTW Mike, how are things with you?

  7. I have two sets...

Four bags (two for front trunk, two for behind seats).... Brand new, still in the cotton protective bags, never used.

Four bags (two for front trunk, two for behind seats)....Used twice. Great condition.

How does $2500 for the NEW set sound... Split shipping costs.

Or.... $2000 for the barely USED set sound...Split shipping costs.

  8. I just sold my 2006 Viper. I actually really liked the car, but was able to sell it for more than I paid for it, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity, especially with the crappy economy in Florida.

I was looking at Ford GTs, maybe the one that LamboChicago has for sale. It looks like the prices of these things is actually going up.

Just wanted some opinions from GT owners, especially those that have owned Vipers or Lambos....Driving experience, Fun factor, reliability, problems to expect, and anything else you could throw in would be helpful.

    Thanks!

  9. do you think this would fit an LP560? I'm on the verge of ordering an LP560, but if this deck lid would fit, I will order one with the non-glass deck lid. The option of the glass-deck lid is about $4200, so this would be a great upgrade for a few hundred bucks more (plus whatever the glass or lexan would cost)...

  10. I'm thinking of selling the Viper to get a sports sedan. I'm not planning on taking it to the track or anything like that, I just want something that I can zip to Miami or Orlando with more than one passenger. Saw a brand new M3 up close...not very impressed with the looks, but the performance and handling are obviously incredible (from what I have heard). I'm not a huge fan of MB overall (exception of SLR, but thats not really an MB, is it), but the C63 looks a lot meaner than previous iterations.

Has anyone actually driven one yet, and can you give me some driving impressions?

    Thanks

    Rick

  11. I'm actually really impressed with the iphone, and once it goes 3G, I think it will be incredible.

The only reason I don't have one, is that I travel a lot, and I like to switch out SIM cards... with the iphone, since the phone is locked, you can't change to a local SIM, so you're compelled to pay ATTs insanely high roaming rates, even for local calls when you are in Europe or Asia. Then you get the privilege of paying super high long distance charges too on top of that.

I'm waiting for the Nokia N96 or the Sony Xperia to come out this fall. Both of these are unlocked and GSM.

  12. Just signed up for an Ariel Atom Experience Track day. I think its the first time they've been to Florida.

Its at Moroso last week of February. Just an FYI in case anyone is interested in going.

(I have no connection with the company, just thought this sounded like fun!)

  13. Never used the cover...its actually still in the box it shipped in. Comes with a carrying bag.

I had planned to use this cover at my office, but I never used it.

I paid $220 for the cover (custom fit)

It is for indoor use only, made by COVERCRAFT. Color is TAUPE. Material is supersoft Dustop Material, designed especially to avoid scratches and protect car from dust and dings.

I'll ship it to you for $100.

    PM me if interested.

    Thanks

    Rick

  14. Was looking at buying a used MB SL-600...its really been hit by depreciation (137K MSRP, selling now for under 80K with warranty).

Just wondering if anyone here has had experience with one? I test drove it....its really smooth power, and I love the hard top convertible. Suspensions a little cushy, but adjustable.

Would probably rather have an SL55 AMG, but the SL-600 caught my eye because of the color and the V12 engine sounds very cool, especially at high revs...

How about maintenance? THE MBs are terrible on maintenance problems to begin with, but what about the SL600 in comparison? WOrse than the "average" MB?

    Thanks...

    Rick
