  1. Would I like this game given my older tastes?

Its a very focused game. Set on simulation damage, tuning, physics. Its not just a pickup and race around bumper cars.

If it can be tuned in real life, you can tune it on this car. Race for money, spend money for upgrading parts, new cars, etc. The depth is immense.

Lets see some laptimes! To do hotlaps: Press 'Y' on the track select screen to bring up the leaderboards. While at the leaderboards, press A to start the race in free run time trials. (To race a ghost, press A while highlighted over one of the top names) If you go off track, hit a wall, or use the rewind, you will see a (!) next to your time, and that time won't be submitted to the leaderboards. Has to be a clean lap.

    Mini - 1:13.459

    Evo - 1:11.334

    Ferrari - 1:08.427

    Audi - 1:05.430

    GT3 - 1:00.228

  2. Great stuff, nice post.

In regards to #1. on the list, I had a CHP officer do me a favor once on the 91 after getting pulled over for doing 135-140mph:

"I'm going to do you a real favor since I like your car and cite you for 99mph".

I didn't quite understand why it was important, beyond 2x the fee, but after reading a bit I was thankful as hell. Massive difference in points, fees, and potential prosecution between 22348 and 22349.

You are correct. I have given people breaks on 100+ before and cited them for 22349. However in the speed box I would write 90 or something. It wouldn't make sense to write the actual speed over 100, then cite the 65 section.

  3. I was supposed to send this to a Highway patrol officer I know, but I didn't have time. He did say that if it's real it would have had to be caught by an airplane because the radar detectors don't go that high, and it would indicate that on the ticket.

    1. The section for 100+ is 22348(b ). I don't know a single officer that would write the 65+ violation for a 100+ violation

    2. The correct section for 65+ is 22349(a), not (b )

    3. 65+ is an infraction, not a misdemeanor

    4. He wrote the name again in the owners box, yet also check the "same as driver" box

    5. Looks like a letter "A" in the age box

    6. I don't believe radar reads over 199

    7. a) Aircraft have to pace, and they don't go 200+

b ) A pace needs to be outlined in the location box. IE: N/B X from Y to Z

    c) If an aircraft paced, the radar box wouldn't be checked

  4. when you can ride like this, then you're ready to handle a SS 600/1000. I always laugh when someone says 'this is slow, thats slow'. Someone out there will flat out embarrass you with it.

You could ride an 848 for 20k miles, and would still get shown up by a tour bike weighing 2.5 times as much with less power. Riding isn't just a pickup hobby, its an art form. People that treat it like a hobby end up very hurt or dead. I'm not trying to scare you out of it sprite, but its a skill that has to be nursed very carefully.

Don't forget MSF and full gear all the time. It doesn't matter if its a 5 minute run down the street, you don't get to decide when you get in a wreck.

    and great posts corporate

  5. this thread is full of terrible advice

If you want to ride straight and park at starbucks, get an 848. Just be prepared to be made fun of for having 3in chicken strips. You're never going to learn how to ride starting on that.

Suzuki SV650 is the best 'starter' bike you could get. If you want to really RIDE, get the SV. The bike is forgiving and easy to ride, yet you will likely never come close to being able to ride the bike on its limit. Not to mention there are a million parts available for it. And they're still FAST

Its not about respecting the speed/power, any super sport bike is extremely unforgiving to a newbie making mistakes. Its NOT the same as a fast car.

As far as ninja 250's go, I know plenty of riders who destroy super sport riders in the mountains on a 250, let alone a 500

  6. On another note, are LVEric's just Diablo GT's that he got registered? Im still not seeing how his blue and yellow diablos are street legal but I know on 6 speed he stated they were!

They are not. And it's GTR btw, GT is different.

Proper safety equipment? Don't race cars have roll cages?

Doesn't matter. If the cars don't go through crash test regs, its open and shut. Doesn't matter if they're 'safer'

Insurance companies actually don't like to see roll cages in a street car (for parttime drag/road racing) because if you wreck the car on the street with no helmet on, you're asking to split your skull open.
