countach5.7 Report post Posted November 14, 2012 I have a leak from the joint between the hose & the cooler, I've managed to undo it, however I can't see a problem. Am I correct in thinking that the seal is made between the metal parts, ie there is no rubber seal?? The other hose seem to have been tightened up by God, I don't have a 27mm Crowfoot spanner, Ideas? Qestions: 1) What is the correct size spanner to use, I think its 27mm, tried 28 but it was too big. 2) what is the correct size hose to buy, 0.5"ID?? 3) Are size/fitting are the unions? JIC or BSP??? Which hose or connector is leaking? Here is the diagram showing the oil cooling circuit. Hopefully it isn't the cooler itself that has cracked at the fitting. Hopefully it isn't the cooler itself that has cracked at the fitting. Mike Its no 38, however on my car the hoses are one piece with swaged(?) ends, so I can't just undo a Jubilee clip. Beginning to think about cutting through the s/s hose 'cos supposed to be using her at an event to raise funds for charity this weekend... grngryoutmyway Report post Posted November 15, 2012 If someone eliminated the fitting to clamp the hose on to and just made it onto the hose make sure it has the correct end to mate with the cooler. Most of those small adapter fittings I have seen are just standard flare or inverted flare, and if there is no o ring that sounds right. You could have also previously had a issue someone tried to fix with a non oil resistant sealant, which would explain why it is so stuck and eventually started to leak for no reason. You will probably need to measure the size of the nut and go to your local tool house. Once you pull it I imagine it should be pretty clear what the issue is. I've managed to undo the leaky connection, but cannot see anything obvious, been trying to remove the other line so that I canremove the cooler & bad hose (which disappears down towards the sump) to a specialist to test..
