Ha I must admit I've not played with it much because I don't drive at night. Surprised, 76 views and one reply though.

On my 98 there's a rectangular button with arrows going both ways.

The carter motor issue is common and one of the flaws that cannot be cured properly and permanently.....unless you install a Motec system to control the idle and a number of other things.
It's a modern upgrade that makes the car more tunable and even more reliable.
Surely now....Lets don't trash the whole system.

answer is still no.

Looks like your down to guessing at it. Not unheard of, and just goes with the territory.
-
If your worried about resale originality is always, without exception the better decision.
-
Now that I think about it, my failed climate control would not adjust up or down. Pretty clear it was bad, so dismiss that.
-
OBDII won't tell you anything about the AC. It could be freon, but you need to see if the compressor is turning on at all, could be a relay, fuse, and yes it can be the climate control module itself. Mine failed very early on. Just take it one at a time. You need to access the relay fuse compartment in the engine bay behind the carbon fiber panel drivers side.

Hey I agree with that 100%. EXCEPT no matter how much you want to love it, if it doesn't love you back it's got to go, and that means being reasonably comfortable. I just don't think it's possible beyond about 6'2" Yes you could possibly modify the seat but who wants to do that with something you just bought? Now if you want to buy it just to oogle at it, well then by all means. Heck if you buy it right you might not even loose money down the road. I said MIGHT.

I say go look at it, or at least find one to sit in and imagine spending some time in it. It's all very exciting, but don't let others affect your decision. After the cheers are gone it's YOU that has to live with it.
-
At 6'7 and wanting to drive the car allot? Forget the Diablo, you will soon grow to dislike it. I assume you have big feet too? Another major drawback with the close pedals, and small foot well. I say big feet. Size 12 is not a problem with the proper shoes, but bigger than that, and not good.

Ah from ecstasy to disappointment.....Exotic car ownership.
-
time to trade up
There's no such thing. Diablo owners know they are at the top of the food chain.
-
It's covered very extensively on lamboweb. Including the "Carter motor controller", relay etc.
Damn computers.
-
On US cars there are three different computers that were used in the 97-98 MY range that's why the price difference I posted, and part of the difficulty in identifying, so be careful.
-
Yes that is hard to diagnose without a code, but I would lean to the fuel system also.
-
No kiddin. My foot doesn't go down to the floor like it used to!

They range from $3-$7.5K for the older Diablo's which is bearable. The concern is getting them. As far as the Motec option, I heard around $20K for a conversion. That's when a Diablo will make a nice planter
I remember that day at Grapevine. Was a good one.

You have a PM.
No problem about the name. When I called Dallas about my car they told me about yours. Said they wouldn't take it because it couldn't be fixed. I ended up sending it to Evans, and they were able to fix it but it wasn't easy. I still have both cars, but one is tainted now with a permanent CEL that can't be turn off except for installing a switch under the dash which I passed on. I'm looking forward to explaining it to the next buyer. I'm sure he'll understand HA!
In any case, pretty scary when the dealership turns you away.
-
No, because they can't be fixed. Like you said, newer cars are basically throw away to some extent. Sure no one is throwing away a Lamborghini but it is a low number special car and parts only have to be made for 10 years and the 10 years are up on this one. Unless you can find a used one for the identical year from a wrecked car you would have a huge paperweight to sit in your garage to look at. I had a 99 that sat at the dealership 6 months because they could not get a ecu anywhere so you know what you are talking about. The manufacture just looks at this as time to upgrade to a new car. I love the Diablos but this is a concern. That ECM controls so much.
Was your car at Lambo Dallas by any chance?
-
Agreed, it can always be fixed.
When the CPU goes out and they cease to be produced, don't bet on it. I have one out of my 97 Roadster, that makes a nice paper weight right now, know anybody that can fix it?
-
Price ticking up is true but lets face it, as parts become obsolete the value will not hold. 175k tops as Roy says and I don't ever see North of 225k. Its a modern car with modern electronics to go bad. Its not a 67 L88 corvette. See how easy an ECM will be to find for that car in 10 years. They go out.
Agreed, this is the scary thing about low volume cars and computer technology. Could very well be classified as disposable, or at least non-usable.

Funny. Well there's one guy who thinks good times have returned.

I say stick with Pirelli IF you can find them. They were very hard to find a year ago or so. Maybe the pipeline has been re-filled by now?
