  1. We had a user here who claimed to be a huge lottery winner. It was years ago so I forgot what car thread he appeared in, but we were talking about one of the hyper-cars and someone mentioned that it was supposedly owned by a young mega millions or powerball winner. He then showed up in the thread (apparently he really was the owner and was only in his late teens/early 20's). Not sure if he is still around or whatever happened to him.

There is another user on this forum that was much more known around here, that stated he had won a share of a big lottery not too long ago, but did not want to get into details. I haven't seen his username in a while but he was a very frequent poster for a while.

I know a lottery winner who owns a Lamborghini. He's very good at managing his winnings and lifestyle. He lives well but not out of control. He's extremely generous too. He would be a great example for other winners.

  2. Private pilots are generally on a much shorter leash. Couple hours to wheels up.

I wonder how that lifestyle is. I worked with the wife of Mel Gibson's pilot who unfortunately died during a military training exercise, and Steve Jobs' pilot lives near me I was told he still flies the family. The thing about Jobs' pilot is his home is about 400 miles from the Job's house so I wonder how on call worked.

  3. I shouldn't have read that story, my god that was depressing.

Re: today's powerball winner. Can someone also help me understand this

The $758.7 million amount reflects the annuity payout option, in which the winner receives 30 payments over 29 years, increasing 5 percent annually.

Lottery officials said nearly all winners take the cash option, which would be around $443.3 million minus federal and state taxes.

REALLY? Why does she need that much money in such a hurry? 26 million per year isn't enough? My mind is blown.

People like that should take the Annuity

  4. Franchise like everyone says, is a 24/7 365 job. Minimum wage employees are unreliable.

That being said, if you can follow a good formula and secure good locations you can do well

I'm my town there is a Jordanian family that are great at business. They own some pharmacies and 10 dominos franchises. They mint $.

I also know a guy who was an engineer scraping by out east. Sounds like that guy kmb. Anyway he saw his uneducated family members killing it with Subway franchises. He came to Cali and bought a couple. He and his wife worked their asses off. They have about 14 stores now. Subway averages about $60k per shop. He now has a good general manager and no longer works. He apparently just bought an estate in the neighborhood that Kinsella is in.

Anything takes work. Coming up with your own idea is hard whereas if you can work in a formula franchises are plug and play. You just have to put in the time and get big enough to where it's worth it and it runs itself.
