  1. Lamborghinisti,

The date codes checked out to be the middle of 2010..2 1/2 years old. Since they are definitely discontinued...not just out of stock, I'll take them!

There are 2 tires (1 front set) left. $260.00 each.

    Call Mike Riley (Store Manager)

Like I said, I have nothing in this. I found a set and I'm just passing this information along.

  2. Lamborghinisti,

Okaaay....I've searched the internet high and low and went to another one of my truck service centers. I may have a line on 4 (2 sets) of front tires in 235/40 ZR 17's. Michelin PS 2

My truck center found them in their Tampa warehouse and we're now trying to verify the date codes. I'll be taking one set and this leaves one set up for grabs. I have nothing in this and will post all the direct contact information as soon as I get confirmation on the dates.

    They're $ 260.00 each....that's what I'm paying.

  3. Lamborghinisti,

Thanks for the update. These electronic issues really drive me nuts. What I'm finding is that over the years, mechanical parts, rubber, wire seem to be very reliable and replaceable. It's the electronic circuit boards and modules that are not. The problem is that increasingly, the cars won't run without the exact replacements. And like all Italian parts, they stop making them!

I am now on my 3rd GFA module ( Airbags car) at $3200.00 each. I need to start a new thread with my findings and see if I can pinpoint an issue.

Was your engine computer failure due to something specific? With only 15k miles, I can't believe it could only be static age. I have over 65K miles on my Roadster now so I can see flaky Italian electronic modules going out.

When those Murci's LP 640's and Aventators get up in age, I just wonder if they'll still be on the road. With the Audi era, I wonder if they finally changed over to Bosch electronics.

Drive your car more Rey....keeping in the garage seems to cost you just as much ;)

Oh, and this what still keeps my 91 Testarossa in the garage. While the belt service might be expensive, it's still electronically simple....and everyday reliable.

  4. Lamborghinisti,

$475.00 is insane. Just recently I took mine off that were scratched up and wiped them down with 99% isopropyl alcohol that easily removed the sticky stuff. Then I repainted with Krylon Fusion paint, satin black....Better than new. Cost, $4.75 :)

....but the carbon fiber looks really cool! :D

  5. Lamborghinisti,

If just your belt flew off, a replacement wouldn't cause any change.

    Is the new belt slipping?

Did the old belt in the process of coming off nick an AC line?

Do you see any black greasy speckles anywhere around the AC compressor, fittings, lines or condenser? That's indicative of a leak.

Given you have an SV...MY98? It should be factory 134A. My 97.5 VT Roadster is OEM 134A

You can buy a AC recharge gauge cluster from Discount / Napa / Autozone. It allows you to connect up to the fitting and the gauge the pressure in the system. If it's low, you can use the filler line on the cluster and add from one of those screw on (pierce to open) cans.

  6. Lamborghinisti,

Very good suggestion on the sludge removal. I never would have though there would be crud like that sitting at the bottom. I have a fluid extractor from Griots Garage. I'll have to do this extra step next time.

    Thanks for the tip.

  7. Dear Lamborghinisti,

    Shamile:

I went through his same problem with the rears, Tire Rack's inventory was too old. After allot of searching, I found them at TireCrawler.com with a late 2011 mfg date, which was acceptable. I see they don't list the fronts, but they may be out there.

I checked Tirecrawler and they have Pirelli Aysemetro...something like that for the rears but only the fronts for the early Diablo....245's.

They have Toyo's in the fronts but not rears.

  8. Dear Lamborghinisti,

It's just that as high performance tires goes, 17" is out of date. The norm is 18" and pushing forward. All of us will eventually have to change to 18's but I like my Roadster rims just fine.

    Thanks for your link Ray.

BTW, what's the news on your Roadster?

I just had to buy another GFA again.....3rd one now. $3000.00 ugh.

  9. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Well, I needed to order a couple of front tires 235/40 ZR 17 for my 97.5 VT Roadster. As usual, it went to Tirerack on line to order them...none. I called and got a "umm...we don't know"

Where I get commercial tires for my F 250's are a Michelin dealer. (TCI Tires) They looked on the Michelin computer and....nothing.

    Soooooo........any sources?

  10. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Battery is 3 years old. It takes 1 second of cranking before the engine turns over.

I think you're good. You will definitely notice a lower pitch when starting if the battery is nearing the end.

I did notice the interstate takes longer to get to the full green than the Optima. I'm not saying this is a performance marker but perhaps just the nature of the battery.

  11. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Shamile ... it takes several hours to go from red to green flash ... then another couple hours to go from green flash to solid green. The Interstate MT-34 battery was checked by a local battery place and they said it had 667CA of the 700CA and said the battery was like new. They did not perform a load test. Based on how long it takes to get to a solid green on charging, do you think the battery just needs to be replaced?

I found when I had the interstate in my Diablo, it took longer to charge and top off compared to the redtop in my Testarossa.

How old is your battery? If it's on the 3-5 year mark, it may be closer to the end of it's life cycle. How is the cranking? Is it slower of fast? I noticed I needed to change the battery by the "pitch" of the starter.

  12. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Maybe a dumb question.....but do these cars have a cig lighter you can use?

No, don't use it. I have burned the fuse from just hooking up a small air compressor to it. I would only use it for your girlie's smartphone charger lol

  13. Dear Lamborghinisti,

The Battery Tender has 4 automatic settings.

    Unconnected...red flashing

    Just connected.....red steady (charging mode)

    Almost charged.....green flashing

    Charged.....green steady

If you turn around the charger...these definitions will be printed right on the back.

........yep....I can hear the "Homer Simpson Doh! " from here lol

The heat you are feeling from the cover area is the heat radiating from the oil cooler. If you notice, the battery cover / rear wheel splash shield is louvered. This is evacuate the hot air from oil cooler. That area will be hot after a 30 minute drive.

When you plug in the tender, the red to green flash will be about an hour and green flash to green steady should be about 45 minutes after that.

  14. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Since the engine is out, you should rebuild the starter and check the clutch.

The engine isn't out....just the intakes.

You can remove and replace the starter on the 94+ Diablo's with the engine in the car. You have to remove the headers on the driver side and slide it back. I've done this.

    Clutch...well, that's another story ;)

  15. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Shamille had made reference to a company that makes struts that are replacements for the Diablos with a bit more power but not as much a struts for a Murcei

Yes, I have struts from Steve Gleaner of Driven Exotics. They're not as powerful as the Murci struts but will open the door automatically. On hot days, you can still easily pull the door down. If it's been up for a while, I pull it down a little, release, pull it down more, release then close. This puts less stress on that tiny ball holding the whole strut/door assembly up.

  16. Dear Lamborghinisti,

    Hey Kenco!

This is for a VT Roadster but I doubt they changed interior finishes much.

For the dash pod facia plate and center console facia use Duplicolor OEM trim black. It's a very subtle satin finish and looks...well OEM.

Start with Duplicolor Primer to fill the odd pits in the fiberglass pieces. Sand, then wetsand to a smooth finish. For the OEM Trim black paint, do about 20 super light mist coats. It gives an almost baked finish look.

My shiftgate is not polished nor brushed. It looks more like a satin finish...probably a vibratory finish. I think a chrome finish like an F car would be nice.
