  1. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Ohhhh.....what a cool thread. High end audio usually gets odd stares when you try to explain it lol.

I've been into audio since I was a kid. My first upgrade was to Yamaha equipment. My first venture into the esoteric was with with old Dynaco tube amps with modifed "virgin commies" tubes

I've gone from Accoustat 2+2's to the very first pair of Martin Logan Monolith 3's. Serial # 000 and 001 to the Meridian Digital system

With the Accoustats, I used a Classe DR 3 Class A amp with MIT music hose cable. That was mated with a Jadis JP 30MC and a Lynn Sondek LP12. I think I had a Saec arm and Grado cartridge. For the interconnect, I used Gryphon Guideline with WBT connectors.

When I upgraded to the Martin Logan's, I kept the JP 30 MC, but changed the amps to Michaelson & Austin Mono block tube amps using 8 EL-34 tubes each....matched sets of course. I added a REL Stadium sub.

I then got Satellite with the Optical out on the Sony A2 receiver. To bring that to the system I used a Meridian 518 processor with a Meridian 563 dac.

By this time, every time the satellite would lose signal for a second, it would send a sharp spike and blow out a tube on the Amps. With having to replace by matched sets and the fact it played havoc with HVAC system, I pulled it all out and went with the full Meridian Digital system

I started with the DSP 5000's and upgraded from there.

Meridian 861 reference processor (not in pix, just pulled for upgrade)

    Nakamichi CR7 Tape deck....yes tape! lol :D

All analogue interconnect Gryphon Guideline solid silver strand cable with WBT connectors.

All digital interconnect MIT Reference Digital Coax Cable

Stands are steel spiked filled with lead shot at the base with alternate fill of sand/ lead shot / sand / lead shot.

My former Meridian 500 transport rested on a separate stand with Goldman cones isolating spike cones.

All power cable is MIT Z cord II's with Hubbell Hospital grade plug upgrades.

Power comes in on 2 dedicated circuits with Panamax surge protectors to Panamax line conditioners to each piece of equipment plugging into separate MIT ISO DUO's and for the sub and speakers, MIT ISO DUO HC (High Current)

Each circuit each has a MIT Z Stabilizer on it.

I was running a Sony 1272Q 3 gun projector with 8" tubes. I could no longer get parts for it and went with a tiny Panasonic 60" Plasma (Very happy with the picture )

The Sony was run through my Faroudia DVP 3000 Line scaler. At the time this was the bleeding edge with 1080i! lol

Well, the Plasma was run with the Faroudia with a Meridian 586.2 DVD player through component. Recently, the Meridian gave up and that $5000.00 Player was replaced with a $120.00 Sony BlueRay Wi-fl player yesterday. It bypasses the $20,000.00 Faroudia with a Monster Cable M 1000 HD (600HZ ) HDMI cable to the plasma running 1080p

In the pix, you will see one of the component cables running to the "video" terminal as I'm still waiting on the Monster Cable.

I just added the Sony Google Streaming player. I'm very excited about this as I can now play Pandora and UTube Videos through my Stereo now. Unfortunately, it outputs only with a Digital Optical out. Not to worry, the 861 uses the de-jitter circuitry of the 518....so not too bad.

I still haven't connected it yet as it relies on a visual interface and you can only use HDMI....still waiting on the cables.

BTW, the computer has nothing to do with the stereo. It sits on a stand I wheel out so I can listen to music while I do business work, FB and Lambopower of course :D I use a wireless mouse on a stand and a wireless keyboard on my lap.

  2. Dear Lamborghinisti,

I hate to say but that sounds awful! Don't worry, you didn't waste your money. I have the EXACT same setup and it sounds amazing. When you get on it, the sounds turns to an incredible bite. Everyone loves the sound and I get lots of positive comments on it.

    What's the difference?

Put your primary cats back. The sound you have is harsh and brash. The cats ( I wouldn't have believed it till I heard yours ) obviously makes a huge difference.

Here's the thread when I put mine in.

  5. Dear Lamborghinisti,

By your tests, it's holding the static charge of 12.5 volts. When you crank it up, it shows 13.5. This test shows that your alternator /regulator is working as it should...charging the battery.

When it ran after the jump, the alternator was working hard to keep the battery up. Even after you placed the trickle charger, the battery died pretty quickly. It could be a dead cell but at the 5-6 year mark, you are due for a replacement.

I thought the yellow top was a deep cycle marine battery? Basically for very intermittent use.

I have very good results with the Optima redtop in my Ferrari Testarossa, while Interstate seems to be the choice for Lamborghini. I have one in my Diablo VT Roadster. It's actually due for a change as we speak...lol 7 years and the cranking is just starting to turn at a ever so slightly lower pitch.

  6. Dear Lamborghinisti,

So, yeah I'm going to unload it. I think I'm in love with the concept of the car, but she just doesn't get me going. It's not on account of not trying, but when I really really boil it down- the pop up doors and the sound are the only thing that I love. Tits and Ass only keep it on the rails for so long. It's just too damn big and boorish. Fast, curvy and beautiful. But, trim and mean is what's on the menu for me.

So, I think I'll finish up the little things that it needs to be perfect and sell it.

Twin Turbo Gallardo is definitely my next car. Ithaca Green or Balloon White.

I won't get stuck with the LP640- it's a helluva a lot of car for what I paid for it. Once I dial it in and polish it up, she'll be a go-getter.

Go with your heart. If it just doesn't do the wow factor every time you see it or drive it...get rid of it or toss her out of bed...;)

I've been trying to force myself to love a Murcilago/LP 640 for years.....and I just can't. The lines do nothing for me. Now, when I see a Diablo, whether in my garage on in a picture....it still get's me going!

After just viewing SP Engineering's black rage Diablo GT.....wow!

If a verde Gallardo TT is what makes you jump out of bed for....go for it!

  7. Dear Lamborghinisti,

    Im glad you are back

    Thanks! :)

    Shamile....you need a countach!

Hey Emilio, while I absolutely LOVE the Countach, I just prefer the lines of the Diablo. But...what's the point of two of the same car. It has to be an absolute daily driver and will rack up the miles.

    Shamile

  8. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Congrats on the Countach....very Darth Vader...!!

As the economy is now picking up, I'm starting to look for a third exotic....a Lamborghini of course. I don't know if it will be another Diablo or Murcilago....but it will be from Roy Cats.

You really can buy a car unseen and undriven from him.

BTW, make sure your tool kit still has the OEM gold chain and black silk shirt. I had to add it to mine....:D

  9. Dear Lamborghinisti,

    Nice modification.

The brake lights switch on my 97.5 VT Roadster is a pressure switch T junction in the hard brake line just below the master cylinder mounted on the front bulk head wall. It sucks though, it only works with high pressure and at a stop light, I have to really keep the pressure on the brake pedal.

I want to switch over to an electric switch like on the 6.0 I've been buying the OEM parts and just have to get around to doing it.

Lol well at least I have not done that......................YET ;)

I have called on Shamile for quite a few questions and answers, he was and is always incredibly helpful every time I call him. In fact one of the reasons I bought a Roadster in the first place was because of my man Shamile :icon_super:

    Haha....thanks guys :)

  11. Dear Lamborghinisti,

To jack the Diablo up properly, use a floor jack and lift one side up from the main jack point just behind the door. Both wheels will rise up and you will place one jack under the frame rail on the inside of the rear wheels.

    SAM_2513.JPG

For the front, you won't see any mounting points but the jack point is a frame member under the aluminum skin. You will need FLAT plates on top of your jackstand to dissipate the pressure. If not, you will leave a very deep mark in the aluminum skin.

    SAM_2141.JPG

I have some sears craftsman professional jack stands and for the front, I made up some aluminum "hats" in my facility. I'll take a photo of those and post it later for you.

Shamile, welcome back! Is that the Hialeah Tri rail station? If so, you were about 1000' away from my marina!

Yes, you are correct. That's the "Market" station. My company did all the ADA decking and Handicap ramps for the temporary station. We don't do bids, we do all the ADA for all the modular companies across Florida. In this case, the company is Touax ( Work Space +) We are also the main supplier to GE Capital.

Good to see your alive and well Shamile. Missed ya. How do you keep your engine so clean as much as you drive?

Glad to see a fellow manufacture. Me too. Need more MADE IN U.S.A. !

Thanks for the kind words Reymondo. For cleaning.....I just yell bikini carwash! lol

As for the ramp systems, all are built in house in my facility in Central Florida. We actually don't sell anything, we lease across the state. And yes, all made in the USA! Raw aluminum comes in one door, and finished ramps goes out the other....no imported sub-assemblies.

Thanks for the welcome back. I will be getting onto a few technical threads soon.

  13. Dear Lamborghinisti,

    Hey Hey guys...I'm around!

I used to post for fun on fchat and technical on LP. I really am done with F chat. I'm just sick and tired of these miserable folks bashing on anything that doesn't fit in their narrow scope of vision.

I'm not into drama...just fun. While my kind fun isn't for everyone, I don't bash you if you want to play golf all day and have a drink at the county club.

For me, I live by a simply philosophy....work hard.....play hard!

I was left with such a bad taste from fchat, I kept thinking, why am I putting up with this? I have so much fun in real life. While being connected to a lot of girlies on FB is fun, I do miss the technical side of things. I just needed to see where I fit best....it's Lamborghini...NOT Ferrari.

  14. Dear Lamborghinisti,

Congratulations Roberto! I remember our first phone conversations on what to look out for on a VT Roadster. I'm glad I was able to help.

I can only imagine the wait and excitement of seeing your car in the transport. I know you were thinking....gawd, is that really mine?

I like the early Murci wheels. I know I will have to go to 18's as well as the selection for 17's are slim.

  15. Dear Lamoborghinisti,

    b

As I have also been busy, I haven't been on here in some time.

Shamille, you and I have known each other for some time and have always looked out for each other but I think it is total crap that you are blowing up Steve on here like this. Per my recollection, he has helped you with things in the past for free when you had called or emailed or whatever.

Truth be told, you had reached out to Steve via phone a few months ago. He hadn't responded (which is typical as he normally never gets to his phone). You reached out to me and I had mentioned it to Steve when I was in there getting something done on my car. He told me to have you email him since it is easier for him to respond. I think I sent you his email but I might not have (don't remember). If I didn't send it, then I am to blame for the break in the communication chain. Steve can own the "not calling you back" part but I can tell you that I know Steve personally and the guy works SO much that it is harder to get a hold of him on his cell phone.

I am going to share with you a little bit about Steve that I know.......

The guy has been working on Lamborghinis his ENTIRE working life. He started out working for Al Burtoni as a kid. Eventually, he left and a bunch of his customers started sending his their cars to his house (even though he didn't have a shop or plans to open one up - they just wanted his hands on their cars whether it was in his garage, the curb, etc.). Eventually, he realized that he needed to open a shop somewhere to handle all of the cars he was getting sent to him. He found a space in Gilroy and opened his place. When he did, Burtoni's paint and body guy (Joe) of years and years came with him.

Fast forward a few years and it is still pretty much Steve and Joe. He has had an assistant or two come and go along the way that he has trained to help with oil changes, etc. but Steve's eyes and hands are on EVERY Lamborghini that goes through his shop. I have told him a million times that he needs to hire some more mechanics and that he could make a fortune. He has replied back just as many times that he "wants to make sure that the job is done right every time and that he knows it is when he is personally involved with every car." Thus he hasn't expanded his operation.

With that being said, Steve has built a reputation in the Lamborghini world to the point where he has a shop full of cars from all over the world that numbers in the upwards of 25+ cars that are either short term services (fluids, etc.), rebuilds, long term frame-off restorations, accident claims, etc.. When you have that kind of scope for a customer base that is both large and paying good money (although less expensive than a dealer) to have their cars worked on, they expect two things, quality of work and timeliness. With both those things being paramount to running a successful shop, it takes a lot of man-hours to accomplish both those criteria.

Which leads us back to Steve and his operation. He is working on EVERY car himself. So how does he get it all done?

Steve gets into his shop at 6am on most days. When you are kicking that 20 year old out of your bed in the morning, Steve is already turning wrenches. He works almost EVERY Saturday and a few hours on most Sundays. That's 7 days a week, most weeks. I can't tell you how many times I have reached out to him on a Sunday to go for an afternoon drive and had him reply that he is in the shop because he has a truck coming Tuesday to pick up a customer's car. He does what he has to and works 70+ hour weeks to meet the two criteria I mentioned before on EVERY car.

With that being said, Steve gets calls ALL the time from other shops, customers, non-customers, Balboni's mechanic (although Steve would never brag about this, it is true) etc. with "How to?" questions. He tries to answer them all.

His reputation as "one of the top Lamborghini guys in the world" hasn't happened by accident. He didn't earn those accolades by pissing people off either. He did it through hard, honest, quality work. To see it tarnished even a bit on a message board has me feeling like I need to put a bit of perspective to it all. Since I have gotten to "peek behind the curtain" at his operation he runs, I have a bit more perspective on what he does than most. Admittedly, I have grown to understand, respect and become friends with him through his help, work, fairness, etc..

We are all looking for deals here. We have all called a shop or reached out to an expert at some point for help on something. And most experts give it (to varying degrees). Lord knows I have done with to Steve before myself.

As I recall, Steve has helped you out with stuff in the past. Free of charge. I ask this of you......What have you ever done for him? Have you sent him a check for his time? Have you posted on any message boards even as to how great he was? Have you sent him work? I ask this because Steve has helped me with "freebies" in the past. He has gone into his shop at 6am on a Saturday that we were supposed to go to a Concours after I texted him at 3am saying "I couldn't get my air filters to fit and was finally throwing in the towel and not going to the stupid Concours." Didn't charge me a thing for a hour it took to belt sand the edges of the filters to get them to fit.

I get freebies here and there just like we all do. I have tried to pay him back on the boards for his courtesy. I have bought his shop lunch. I have bought him Lamborghini flags and a HUGE Italian flag to hang in his place. Little things to try to give back. What have you done? I can't tell you how many times I have seen him work an extra 3-4 hours on a customer's car because something "needed to be done" and not charge them for it. That is $500 that he just gave away. Most people don't think about it like that.

There are a lot of takers in this world that expect "little things" for free and don't think much of it when they ask for them. They rarely give even "little things" in return. Often the "takers" are the first ones to get vocal about someone or something if they don't get their way or, in their minds, are mistreated.

Shamile, look at the situation here. You have never sent Steve (to my knowledge) so much as a crumb. Not a thank you note. No picture of Caleigh. Not a sandwich. Certainly not a dime. He is a busy guy who has helped you in the past with things. One series of "him not calling you back" has led to you badmouthing him on a public message board. Try to think things through before you do things like this. Try to see things from other perspectives. I cannot speak for Steve but I am guessing that, in his limited hours he has in his day to not turn a wrench, he has to prioritize. I am just guessing that calling you back fell someplace behind "paying customer" and "Balboni's personal mechanic" on his priority list. Just a hunch.

I am glad you got a hold of someone at George Evan's place. They are a competent shop. I do hope they continue to call you back in the future so that they don't get badmouthed on here long after you have forgotten the help they are currently giving you.

Steve doesn't even come on the boards but I know that he gets calls, emails from people who send their cars to him that do read these things. I am sure he will hear about it. I am sure he will feel bad that you felt like you were slighted by him. I am pretty sure he will be in the shop working to make some customer's car run like a top when he hears about it. It's too bad that things like this have to happen.

Husker, because I know you, I respect your opinion. I was not bad mouthing Steve Gleaner. On the contrary, I respect his opinion so much, that's why even the simplest question of motor oil I will go by what he says.

Things used to be very different. I have bought a few things...nothing much but my car did get PPI'd by him. I've been in contact with him many times...mainly by phone. He asked me to email him instead so he could answer on his time. We would even send a few email jokes back and forth..and yes, he asked about the chicks I date. I sent him a few pix and we had a good laugh. Soo....what changed?

If you go back through any tech thread I've ever wrote on Fchat or here....ANY info I get, I ALWAYS give a shout-out to the tech it came from. I do not pretend to use people's valuable information as my own. I take my time to write tech threads as my way of giving back to the forum....here and Fchat. It takes alot of time to do a write up and take and edit all the pix along the way. I also have to write it as if someone doesn't exactly understand it all but wants to learn. I could say what tech threads have you done? :D ...just kidding ! You know that's not my style....or to bad mouth anyone...even all the haters I get on FChat.

With regards to Evans, yes, I purchased the whole header/ exhaust system and a bunch of other stuff through them...but that was awhile ago. You just see me mention them....my info is coming from them. Who are the experts? Driven Exotics on the west coast and Evans on the east coast. We all know those are the top in their field.

I also respect Steve's secrets. I got his special door shocks and fuse jumpers from him. I did not post the part numbers but posted that they work and he has them....call him.

About your email...no you didn't respond. Do you know how many tech emails or pmails I get? TONS! I answer everyone to the best of my ability. What's in this for me? This isn't my business AT ALL! I just love having fun and believe if I help, I will receive it...not necessarily from the same person. Many times when things are over my head (many times ) I have sent people both to Steve and Evans. Just because you don't see the email and I don't go on about it like some self professed folks we know... doesn't mean I don't try to help.

OK...enough of the thread derail....back on to tune up time... :D

    Shamile

  16. Dear Lamborghinisti,

That is a valuable resource indeed.

    Well....since time is money...

Please send Five & I a check in the mail... :D

...no more excuses NOT to drive your Diablo's now.... :D
