  1. No matter what model you get, you'll love it, the Esprit has soul man, it aint no Honda!

Regarding the comment on $$$ for repairs - If you're handy with a wrench the 4 cylinder cars are very easy to work on, and in the past two and a half years, I've spent $1640 on my S4s including $700 to change the cam belt, now compare this to the $1,500 I just spent tonight replacing the ECU in my Range Rover and you get the picture. - Good luck and enjoy it

  2. Did anyone watch this on Fifth Gear.  They bought a V8 esprit with hopes of cracking the 200 MPH barrier.  They ran into all kinds of problems with the car.  Gearbox broke multiple times.  The engine blew twice.  They replaced the factory turbos and make over 480HP and then threw a 100 shot of NOS on it just to get to 200.  They never made it.

Speaking of running into problems - did you ever get your NSX sorted out?

  3. I went to the AM V8 launch party a few weeks back, and have the following observations after seeing the car in person ...

The good - interior is stunning, true quality and a real work of art.

The not-so-good - at a glance the exterior still reminds me a 350Z, and the V8 engine looks lost in the engine bay (compared to the DB9 & Vanquish).

For $115K it would make a nice luxury daily driver, but I'd still go for the DB9.

  4. Now THATS interesting to know...  I have a red top on my m3 (less than 1000 miles/year) and I need to charge it up every couple of weeks or so...

How did you figure out which model # to buy?

I pinged some of the Esprit nerds, and based on CCA and size ended up with a D34/78. Picked it up from E Bay for $105, although it seems as the seller TNA Motor Sports (in the OC) doesn't exist any longer. I gave them a call tonight to see if they could recommend a battery for you, but alas the phone number (1 888 TNA SPORTS) was no good :(

  5. Im a member of the Lotus List, and as of right now, im getting yelled at, because get this, of the way i drive my car, im setting up the next owner for BIG repair bills!

Ignore them, there's a vocal few who are a bunch of old women and arm chair Grand Prix drivers - Chapman wanted his cars driven, not looked at on Sundays.

  6. Dude, just in that one run, there was a cow in the middle of the road, a tourist in a Neon came skidding in front of me by going too fast downhill, and i ran into a pack of Roosters. The corners are all blind. Go wrong, and you go into the cliff, go wrong the other way, you go off the cliff.

haha - I've taken a few chickens out (on Kauai) myself, guess they zigged when they should have zagged!

  7. hi, i went to the dealer to see the new lotus and all the mags say it 39k, but when i got to the dealer . they are all 47k . all 4 cars that they had. whats up with all the prices? are they all aroud 50k?

Thats insane - in California you can pick them up at msrp. There are also a lot coming back onto the used market right now, folks traded their boxsters and Z3's in for the Elise and now figure out they don't like them as a daily driver. I met one tool who's complaint was it doesn't have a cup holder and the ride is too hard!
