  1. Acquired in 2015. Had been sitting in a sealed cargo container since mid 90's.

After an extensive recommissioning in 2016 and several hundred miles of driving she's been sitting high and dry.

In the early 90's the owner refinished her in a red metallic, car was originally white.  I swapped off the big bumpers for euro style and had the car sprayed with black Plasti Wrap.

It's now time to disassemble and invest in a correct, white repaint. What the is best way to strip old finish?  Chemical? Media blast? Does anyone here have experience in this? The body is in nice shape. No corrosion, no dents, no evidence of bondo.

    Thoughts?

  2. I'm going to paint my Countach from maroon back to the original white.

I ditched the 5 mph bumpers as soon as I bought it and sprayed the the car black plasti dip. Just hated the red.

They had done a pretty decent job on the color change but I want to make sure the car is correct and detailed to factory look from edge to edge.

Is there anyone in the area (I'm in Rhode Island) that has an 80's I could look at to see details such as  trim, caulking etc?

  3. I don't know about  better A/C or reliability but I'll say buy what you like.

I like the 5000 S style. That's me. I like the cup seats, the old style interior  and, no bumpers.

You're owning and driving it so I'll reiterate, get what appeals to you. Any Countach is a rare supercar legend so you can't miss.

Good luck in your search and be sure to have a PSI performed by someone familiar with the model. I can assure you a new looking car could need 50k or more in repairs which is no big deal as long as you know up front.

Because La mia Macchina ha lasciato la fabbrica con un interno bianco e ora e' nera. Yes someone swapped out the white gut for a near perfect black one. I know the white ones never weathered well so it makes sense, but a nice white one sure is stunning.

I remember at one point, I think in the 90's  you could buy a nice Countach in the 40's. The person I bought mine from purchased it in 1992 for $32k. He showed me the car when he bought it. Had about 25,000 km and a couple of dings/scratches from storage. Also the left seat bolster was worn through. It was a good running car, just needed a little TLC. He had the car painted this hideous wine color. It came out ok, not show but very presentable. I acquired the car about 8 years ago +-? I think.

I should paint the car back to white. I own a very competent collision shop but these projects clog up the operation.
