  1. Never bought a car from out of the country before. Do you know what would be involved in bringing a car from Canada to the U.S.?
  2. What is perceived as an insult will vary from individual to individual. For instance you said "If you don't understand the difference I cannot help you" . I could easily infer this to mean that your implying im too stupid to distinguish between merely having a difference of opinion vs something being said as an insult. Now im sure when you typed that up you didn't mean it that way but for someone on the receiving end it could easily be misinterpreted that way. Honestly it did not appear that donzikid even took my response as insulting. He responded with what he felt was factual evidence to support his POV. Donzikid certainly did not respond in the manner of someone who felt he had been insulted. As far as i can tell no one in this thread seems have taken anything anyone has said as an insult. But as you seem to think i have been insulting let me just say that if anyone here feels that i insulted them then i apologize.
  3. id be willing to pay between 150-175 depending on the year options etc. which i feel is a fair price in todays market.
  4. Thanks for all the input. Ill see if i can get any kind of documentation on who did the work etc. I haven't seen the car in person yet. Im still waiting on them to get back to me regarding service history and some other things. But again thanks for the input.
  5. I see. So let's recap. I started by saying I was looking to buy a roadster at a fair price. A couple people told me that I was being unrealistic that prices would drop And asked me to explain my pov which I did. The Im told I'm being absurd and get remarks like the one above and you have the gall to single me out as being disrespectful. It's always the same on these forums. Some one new comes on who has a different opinion than the mainstream and everyone jumps down their throat. The when they have the audacity to stand up for themselves against senior members a mod jumps in and threatens to ban them. Ive seen far worse comments made by senior members on these boards but I don't see them being threatened. If you want to ban the new guy because he stood up for standing up for myself then have at it.
  6. Interesting hadnt heard of the quality of a respray actually increasing the asking price. I was told "we resprayed the entire car with the oem color. The car wasnt damaged or anything but it had a lot of scratches from being in a cluttered garage and traditional paint touchup would not have been adequate" So my next question is how does one judge the quality of a respray? Is it more about the reputation of the shop that did the work or the physical finish of the job" Im no paint guy so to be honest i wouldnt know how to tell that an respray was actually better than the oem job.
  7. Yea Chads is nice for sure but i am only interested in a roadster.
  8. like swift says haters gotta hate. Dunno why you guys are getting so worked up over this. Chipster asked me to quantify my pov and i did. Seriously let it go. If you dont agree with my opinion thats fine. But instead of making lame comments like the above whey dont YOU provide an INTELLIGENT rebuttal as to why you disagree. Either way lets all just move on. Come next winter well see where the market is and someone will be eating crow.
  9. Just curious what peoples view is on the value of a car that has supposedly been given a "respray" of the same factory color due to scratches and wear. Do you feel that respraying the car, even if it is still the same oem color has a negative impact on the value of the car?
  10. The only people I see saying the market is going up or prices arent going to drop are the ones trying to sell or who already own one and want the value to appreciate
  11. same thing that causes everything to come down. Economy, what people are willing to pay for something, slow down in consumer spending for luxury goods, etc etc. Right now a lot of cars (not all) have been bought up as short term investments and are just sitting in storage waiting for prices to go up. This in turn causes a shortage in supply which drives prices up. But this is really a false shortage as the product is there its just being held back from the market due to speculation. Once people get tired of sitting on the cars they will start putting them back on the market to sell. I am betting however that at $200k pricepoints there wont be a lot of people lining up to purchase one. There's a significant difference in the number of people that could afford a $120K car and those that can afford a $200k car. After all it was that 200k+ pricepoint that fueled the diablo kit car industry. When prices dropped to the point that you could buy a real one for almost the same as it would cost to build a kit car people abandoned the kit cars and started purchasing real ones. Assuming that investors dont just keep sitting on them and start putting them back on the market to sell my personal opinion is that prices will drop back down a bit over the course of this year. But again its my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own views. Time will tell if im right or wrong.
  12. 100-125 range i could agree those days are probably gone. but current prices are mostly artificially inflated based on speculators buying up the cars and sitting on them trying to drive up the prices. I know one person sitting on two cars and another sitting on 1 car both have clearly stated that they bought them because of what happened with the countach market and are going to sit on them for a while and see what happens. In early December you could buy one pretty easily for 135ish. The only reason prices have jumped up 70k+ in 6 weeks is because everyone saw what happened with the countach market and didn't want to take a chance on missing the boat for the diablo market. It may take several months but i think that they will come back down off their current highs. Might only be 20-30k but i doubt they will continue to climb. When i talked to the "in the know" people just a couple of years ago when i first considered buying one everyone was saying they will never drop below the mid 150s. Ended up dropping below 100k at their worst.
  13. same here. I know of a couple dealers that are just sitting on them waiting for prices to go up. Im looking for a 97-99 roadster at a reasonable price if anyone knows of one.
  14. Looking for a 97-99 diablo roadster. Preference is blue on white but open to other color combos as well. If you have one or know of one coming up for sale let me know.
