Also you did not use launch control but rolled out and then hit the gas.

this is a fantastic video of the 219mph run showing the tach....extremely impressive shifts as well!
i've noticed this on speedo videos for a couple of different cars - is 2nd gear pretty much worthless on these 1/2mi runs?
-
Event went really well. Fueling was smooth and competition was tight. Was nice to see the format with allowing meth worked out as planned too. Allowing meth did not de-stablize the playing field one bit. Some of the UR cars that came out are below and they had a great time. Sebastian, Dan, JC, Mark, and Matt it was great hanging out at the event and hotel bar with yall.
so did DP use w/m injection to win both 93 and e85 classes? not much info can be found about the runs, or maybe i just haven't dug deep enough.
-
no disrespect to all the other UGR builds out there, but this one is by far the sexiest! blue lemans, spyder and a pair of snails in the boot...incredible! and that speedo vid is mind boggling.

who knew someone from NC State would have such great taste in cars???
haha, UNC guy throwing some shade! =) but it could be another mario williams, no?!
-
Yes and you will see me soon enough because I'm on the East Coast too.
cool, looking forward to it!
Just curious did you ever had DP building you a car? If was looking on their Facebook page and I didn't see your name thereyou sure you didn't seem someone named jomama on DP's facebook page? =D
i'm a (mostly) unbiased bystander that gives credit where credit is due. john lomant seems to be a class act with a legit love for cars. i wish there were more guys like him on both sides of the fence.
-
Lmao! Some specialize in breaking cars and some in breaking records
just curious leo, do you race your car at events?
-
that's pretty damn impressive. i wonder how many standing 1/2 miles he ran on the road home - tons of open roads between NC and OR!

I get what you are saying and agree 100%, but I don't think he was trying to claim that some of those customers UGR cars were the fastest just because they had the same 2R or X package. I read it as saying that they too have the potential to be just as fast given the work done to them, but no one was saying hand over the title without actually running +240mph.
fair enough - maybe i read it wrong. i just don't like discounting the fact that it's really damn hard to run at those speeds. not only do you need a fast car, but you have to have some big f-ing nuts to do it as well. so when someone throws out "oh, a bunch of guys are capable of doing that," that person is not only discounting what ETS has done, but also what gidi and richard have done. right now, 240 is a pretty exclusive club. but point taken - it may not be exclusive for too much longer.
-
Put your money and I'm sure UR will have more than 10 cars running 240+ ... a lot have fast cars from UR with the same package and tune but rather not take them to the mile and just have fun with them everyday. UR don't just get lucky with " one shop " car, they make a package that almost anyone can buy and race and get full UR support
i'm not discounting what UGR does. if there was one thing they've accomplished, they've consistently dominated the competition with some of the sweetest cars on the planet. all i'm saying is that you're not the fastest unless you are the fastest. if i ponied up the coin to have UGR build a stage XXX for me (prob isn't happening this lifetime), but kept it in the garage yet touted it as the fastest, that wouldn't mean a thing.
hats off to UGR. i commend you folks for turning this naysayer into a believer. i thought heffner, with the seemingly unlimited pocketbook of ob, would be a more formidable foe. but you guys are clearly heads and shoulders above the rest!

It's that too deep for you to understand? Or you just want to troll this thread too? I'm trying to understand if you are a tool or a fool? Maybe booth
your logic, not mine, so i'll let you tell me tool or fool.
-
4- Ross LP570 UR
5-Bob Helms LP570 UR
don't forget all the ones that are "capable" of doing 240. just put those on the board already.
-
Sorry I forgot you work for UGR 😂😂😂
There are many UGR customers with the Stage X+ capable to go over 240... They are not racing their cars but they are capable to go over 240 MPH... And one of them is the Green Huracan...
UGR built over 200 high performance cars I guess you know them all right?
oh sorry, i didn't know you personally test drove every x+ that came off UGR the assembly line. i mean, why bother lining up then? bc it's clear as day every x+ will run 250, regardless of driver, track conditions, QC variances between cars...etc. run one of them out there and assign the trophy to all like builds.
-
Gidi went 245
did Gidi go 245? i thought ETS finished 2nd with a 244.83.
...and there are many other UGR customers capable to go over 240...not sure how one can make a statement like that. you either went over 240 or you didn't. capable of doing something is not the same as actually doing it.
those top 3 cars are something else. richard's and gidi's lambos are refined, and the GTR is raw, but all three are fast.
-
And so it begins|-O
there always gotta be someone.
-
Damn they go again?
looks like ETS aborted halfway down the strip, not sure why. then gidi ran a 243.x and that was it.
-
225+ with the top down...errr, wow! that's nuts!
-
Did you see how DP copied UR's kit and they even had the same packages and prices on their website it's just so silly.
yup, i totally get that. there are definitely copy cats in every industry. but to have a legal claim, you have to "own" the idea/invention. and a "marketing style" as leo claimed is proprietary to UGR is one that is nearly impossible to patent, and even so, could be easily circumvented. UGR can rely on their first to market dominance of their products, and they can also rely on their dominance at the airstrips and on the streets. but if they want to do it from a legal standpoint, they need to file for/obtain patents. as i mentioned previously, i didn't see that they owned any patents. that doesn't mean that they don't, b/c i did a quick search. if they did own patents, then they will have a legal course of action to block competitors from "copying" whatever it is they claim the invention to be in the patent.
i don't mean to get my panties in a bunch when people make ridiculous claims about how so-and-so should sue so-and-so b/c of xyz. i do this for a living and know that it's complicated.
now back to the regularly scheduled shit talking! =)
-
If UGR start suing other companies for copy Their TT kits and marketing strategies, They will end up owning all the Lamborghini and Audi TT shops
sue based on what? do they own intellectual property on either? last time I checked, I couldn't find any assigned to UGR or the owners.

Like i've told many others, my definition of street car is the 'wife' factor. Will my wife get in it and head out to dinner? Most of these lambos, especially the DCT cars, she wouldn't know it wasn't completely stock.
i can appreciate that. heck, i'd take a ugr lambo over a t1 gtr 8 days out of the week. but at the end of the day, a race is about getting to the finish line first. "you are only competitive only b/c you converted your gtr into a pure race car" is not a valid argument. however, "i like my car better because i can whoop your ass at the track, then go pick up my wife and take her out to dinner" is a valid argument.
-
I really don't care what the competition brings out, I hope they bring their best and I hope they are all there. I hope everyone has a safe event as well. As far as the race car aspect of it, consider this. If they didn't do what they did, if they showed up on the same tires as we run and gasoline, there wouldn't be much competition and the event would suck. So I say let them bring whatever they want. Win or loose, I can guarantee they will get our best shot.
i commend UGR's ability to run streetable cars and win a lot of these races. i also know that when push comes to shove, you guys will take measures as necessary to win the races. that's why i don't think it's fair for folks here to use the latest UGR creation as the definition of "street," and anything beyond that "not street."
-
Even in drag racing Alcohol is a completely different class compared to gasoline.
What is next, start mixing in 10% Nitro?
ii couldn't tell you what's next, but i suppose whatever the race organizer is willing to allow. it's just that we're talking many different shades of grey, and folks here all have opinions about where the cutoff between white and black is. first it was the argument that R888s are street tires, but drag radials are not. then it's shop car vs. customer car (that some customers don't even drive). now it's how someone mounts their turbos and/or exhaust b/c of physical constraints. folks need to just show up, race and shake hands afterwards. let the organizers set the rules without the competitors trying to define classes within a class that has few limitations.
-
........buddy of mine with a DP car said they are on meth and 80mm+ turbos........ so now GTR and some gallardos on meth...they all have to run meth to keep up with ugr.. whats ugr gonna do be the question...? TI is turning in to race car event.... so sad
so race gas = street car and meth = race car? maybe everyone should be forced to run 93oct supplied by the host to ensure total parity.
-
nice run! that car sounds so composed, but i'm sure i'd pee my pants by the time that thing gets halfway thru 1st gear.
-
ha, 231.95 with a passenger! would "flying" solo have upped that mph much? in other words, what's ~100lbs of weight savings worth when you're at those power levels?

the consistency between all the runs is what's amazing to me. every run went off like the one before it, just in a different color. if robots drove the cars, all the H's (minus the yellow one) would prob cross the finish line at the same time. bravo for not only being fast, but being consistently fast!
