  1. the consistency between all the runs is what's amazing to me. every run went off like the one before it, just in a different color. if robots drove the cars, all the H's (minus the yellow one) would prob cross the finish line at the same time. bravo for not only being fast, but being consistently fast!
  2. i've noticed this on speedo videos for a couple of different cars - is 2nd gear pretty much worthless on these 1/2mi runs?
  3. so did DP use w/m injection to win both 93 and e85 classes? not much info can be found about the runs, or maybe i just haven't dug deep enough.
  4. no disrespect to all the other UGR builds out there, but this one is by far the sexiest! blue lemans, spyder and a pair of snails in the boot...incredible! and that speedo vid is mind boggling.
  5. haha, UNC guy throwing some shade! =) but it could be another mario williams, no?!
  6. cool, looking forward to it! you sure you didn't seem someone named jomama on DP's facebook page? =D i'm a (mostly) unbiased bystander that gives credit where credit is due. john lomant seems to be a class act with a legit love for cars. i wish there were more guys like him on both sides of the fence.
  7. just curious leo, do you race your car at events?
  8. that's pretty damn impressive. i wonder how many standing 1/2 miles he ran on the road home - tons of open roads between NC and OR!
  9. fair enough - maybe i read it wrong. i just don't like discounting the fact that it's really damn hard to run at those speeds. not only do you need a fast car, but you have to have some big f-ing nuts to do it as well. so when someone throws out "oh, a bunch of guys are capable of doing that," that person is not only discounting what ETS has done, but also what gidi and richard have done. right now, 240 is a pretty exclusive club. but point taken - it may not be exclusive for too much longer.
  10. i'm not discounting what UGR does. if there was one thing they've accomplished, they've consistently dominated the competition with some of the sweetest cars on the planet. all i'm saying is that you're not the fastest unless you are the fastest. if i ponied up the coin to have UGR build a stage XXX for me (prob isn't happening this lifetime), but kept it in the garage yet touted it as the fastest, that wouldn't mean a thing. hats off to UGR. i commend you folks for turning this naysayer into a believer. i thought heffner, with the seemingly unlimited pocketbook of ob, would be a more formidable foe. but you guys are clearly heads and shoulders above the rest!
  11. your logic, not mine, so i'll let you tell me tool or fool.
  12. don't forget all the ones that are "capable" of doing 240. just put those on the board already.
  13. oh sorry, i didn't know you personally test drove every x+ that came off UGR the assembly line. i mean, why bother lining up then? bc it's clear as day every x+ will run 250, regardless of driver, track conditions, QC variances between cars...etc. run one of them out there and assign the trophy to all like builds.
  14. did Gidi go 245? i thought ETS finished 2nd with a 244.83. not sure how one can make a statement like that. you either went over 240 or you didn't. capable of doing something is not the same as actually doing it. those top 3 cars are something else. richard's and gidi's lambos are refined, and the GTR is raw, but all three are fast.
  15. looks like ETS aborted halfway down the strip, not sure why. then gidi ran a 243.x and that was it.
  16. yup, i totally get that. there are definitely copy cats in every industry. but to have a legal claim, you have to "own" the idea/invention. and a "marketing style" as leo claimed is proprietary to UGR is one that is nearly impossible to patent, and even so, could be easily circumvented. UGR can rely on their first to market dominance of their products, and they can also rely on their dominance at the airstrips and on the streets. but if they want to do it from a legal standpoint, they need to file for/obtain patents. as i mentioned previously, i didn't see that they owned any patents. that doesn't mean that they don't, b/c i did a quick search. if they did own patents, then they will have a legal course of action to block competitors from "copying" whatever it is they claim the invention to be in the patent. i don't mean to get my panties in a bunch when people make ridiculous claims about how so-and-so should sue so-and-so b/c of xyz. i do this for a living and know that it's complicated. now back to the regularly scheduled shit talking! =)
  17. sue based on what? do they own intellectual property on either? last time I checked, I couldn't find any assigned to UGR or the owners.
  18. i can appreciate that. heck, i'd take a ugr lambo over a t1 gtr 8 days out of the week. but at the end of the day, a race is about getting to the finish line first. "you are only competitive only b/c you converted your gtr into a pure race car" is not a valid argument. however, "i like my car better because i can whoop your ass at the track, then go pick up my wife and take her out to dinner" is a valid argument.
  19. i commend UGR's ability to run streetable cars and win a lot of these races. i also know that when push comes to shove, you guys will take measures as necessary to win the races. that's why i don't think it's fair for folks here to use the latest UGR creation as the definition of "street," and anything beyond that "not street."
  20. ii couldn't tell you what's next, but i suppose whatever the race organizer is willing to allow. it's just that we're talking many different shades of grey, and folks here all have opinions about where the cutoff between white and black is. first it was the argument that R888s are street tires, but drag radials are not. then it's shop car vs. customer car (that some customers don't even drive). now it's how someone mounts their turbos and/or exhaust b/c of physical constraints. folks need to just show up, race and shake hands afterwards. let the organizers set the rules without the competitors trying to define classes within a class that has few limitations.
  21. so race gas = street car and meth = race car? maybe everyone should be forced to run 93oct supplied by the host to ensure total parity.
  22. nice run! that car sounds so composed, but i'm sure i'd pee my pants by the time that thing gets halfway thru 1st gear.
  23. ha, 231.95 with a passenger! would "flying" solo have upped that mph much? in other words, what's ~100lbs of weight savings worth when you're at those power levels?
