  1. Are you talking about the videos of it in a parking lot where it hits the raspy spot at 1750-2k rpm or the video of it driving?

Yeah, not only there, but where he pulls out in the street he hits that spot too and it sounds awful. Normally, the Murci has a nice low-pitched growl at that RPM range.

I watched another brief video where the same car has the camera stuck on the rear bumper while the driver is doing a WOT. I'm just not a fan of the "F1 scream" that everyone tries to achieve. By radically altering the exhaust that Lamborghini worked so hard to tune, the balance of the exhaust note has been changed. While it's still recognizably a Murci, it either removes, or covers up by virtue of the higher decibels, some of the music the engine is capable of, and noted for.

OK, so the free-flow exhaust allows for more power. I'm all for secondary cat delete, for example. But when modifications to exhaust stretch the legal limits of such (and probably exceed them), I say enough.

Can I also say that I hate the videos of someone sitting in a Murci (or other supercar) and revving it just for the sake of doing so...especially on a cold engine...just to make noise and impress others? Just sayin...

  2. braided hose is still hose underneath the braiding, and that rubber hose still goes bad with time.

Granted, the rubber still can go bad over time, but my main point is the cost, and availability. Braided steel hoses are available easily from several sources, and is a good-quality alternative.

    Just a thought...

  3. Here's a video of my car that a neighborhood high school student shot and produced. Not bad for only his second car video:

He's going to make a version of the video with the music lower during the engine sounds (a common complaint on car youtube videos of the music drowning out the exhaust). This is with the Fabspeed high flow primary cats, Larini muffler, and Larini slash cut tips, and OEM secondary cat deletes.

I agree about the music, but knowing all the attentive care your care receives gave me great joy watching! What a beauty!

  4. Before committing to the R888s, you may want to read some of the reviews on the web. They're very sticky, and reasonably-priced, but also very noisy. If you're running aftermarket exhaust, maybe it doesn't matter, but some claim the noise is quite distracting -- even enough to cause a couple folks to wonder if their wheel bearings were going. There's a trade-off, too, with the stickiness...as that's achieved by a softer compound. So, they'll need replacing more often.

    Just food for thought...

  5. As far as my friend, he owns a 800hp '14 Viper. He's used to driving fast cars so I wasn't expecting this as an outcome. But you live and learn, I won't let anyone drive my cars.

Big difference in the weight distribution. You can't snap a mid/rear-engine car into tight corners like you can Detroit iron...or even a rice-burner for that matter.

I remember watching the video of the Calgary (?) Murci racing a Viper on a highway with other cars around, and spinning it out trying to make a quick lane change. Seeing other accident photos, I think the same thing has happened countless times.

Such a shame. I so hope at least the engine and tranny find their way into another car so at least there's not a net loss of 6-speeds...

  6. If you could find a cosmetically and structurally sound LP640 egear with a blown engine/transmission, you could end up with a nice manual LP640.

I certainly hope this is the outcome. I really hate to see this...especially since I have yet to find mine...

Just goes to prove, that if you have the money to own one, doesn't necessary mean you have the skill to drive it. Seems like Lambos are getting wrecked left and right...

  7. Sorry to hear that Jon. I did my FULL due diligence on the entire deal. Either i got this one or payed double for another. ..

I was looking at this car, too, but listened to everyone else on this board and passed. Congrats and props to you to forging ahead, and finding the sweetest deal to ever make its way into the used Lambo market!

  8. Because your statements are full of shit.

And...you are jumping down my throat...why? I was only sharing what OTHER MEMBERS had posted on this very forum. Don't shoot the messenger.

I made no such categorical statement including ALL cars -- just that others had experienced problems enough to look more closely.

    Have a nice day.

  9. Just to clear things up:

    1) I have never done a e gear to manual conversion, don't know where you got that. I don't know anyone that has, not what the process or cost would be...so that is in-correct.

    2) My 03 has all the OEM front AWD parts, and as my add states, buyers choice, at no EXTRA COST, the AWD drive can be returned prior to delivery if one so chooses.

I did not mean to imply that you had done a manual conversion...only that you were supplying the parts for the RWD/AWD conversion -- not many sellers keep those items for resale, whatever the aftermarket alterations they have done.

Gosh...folks are hair-trigger...so difficult to have a conversation... I know Roy to be an ethical seller of Lambos. Just offering some additional info for consideration.

BTW, there are some folks that do offer the manual conversion. Some have posted on this and the other forum.

  10. I know Roy has a nice 2003 cats exotic , others you had in mind

Be advised that the one Roy has for sale has had the RWD conversion. While this is a game-changing alteration on the LP640, the differential on the base model is not beefy enough to handle the power. There was just a thread on this, with a couple members expression frustration over having to replace a weak part continually.

It's a relatively inexpensive conversion, and Roy's does come with all the OEM parts, but just a head's up that the car may have some repair needs in the near future.

If you find an automatic you like, but would prefer the three-pedal, a manual conversion runs $25 - 30k. If you do this, as Roy has done, save all parts if you plan on reselling later.
