  1. Sounds like massive BS.

This is the second time I called BS on one of these so-called "millionaire stories" before the actual truth was revealed.

    http://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/...tlane-lol.57039

How did he confirm it? Like confirm it by speaking in a strong tone? Confirm it with a furrowed brow and a twinkle in his eye? Confirm it by saying "Look, my dining bill is $1,200 and I paid it with my Amex Black!"

Or did he produce a brokerage account statement that started with $1,000 when he was 16, and now it's $72,000,000?

I have not seen any proof to the audacious claim, nor did any article mention proof to the audacious claim other than his word.

I'm sorry as I realize this makes me sound like a "hater" but I typically don't believe these sensationalized stories as the media doesn't care if they're true, vetted, or real -- they want stories that are newsworthy and herd eyeballs.

The first of course, was our friendly Russian Immigrant Anton who made millions clipping coupons, buying duplexes, investing in dividend stocks, and making $28K/year in the armed forces.

  2. The real gravity of the situation probably won't be known until after November 4th. I'm sure the administration is pulling every string (Duh, Klein) to keep things quarantined (no pun intended) before election day. IMO, it seems eerily quiet. If it's all quiet after elections, then I'd say we're out of the woods.... for now.

  3. I'm at the point now where I believe that nothing matters any longer when it comes to government incompetence, unconstitutionality, and scandal. They could have multiple sources with POTUS on film wielding a dull-bladed hacksaw slaughtering puppies, children, and grandmas. The MSM would trivialize it, marginalize it, and justify it. The majority would turn a blind eye and scream racist. Everything has an excuse. Every failure is dismissed and passed along. And meanwhile, the majority has become nothing but a bunch of useful idiots who's only concern is what Kim Kardashians' ass looks like this week.

I'm done with it. Ill pay attention again whenever when the bizarro world of government returns to the real world.

  4. Another product of the Participation Trophy generation. These kids think they're rock-stars by simply existing. And with FB, YouTube, Instagram, etc, it allows them to perpetuate their illusions of grandiosity. Take a look at his FB. All FN selfies.

When the real world doesn't comply or acknowledge their self-delusions, 7 people die.

  5. Owning an exotic is quite a PITA, you have to deal with so much nonsense, I know people who don't own one would find this comment ridiculous but it really isn't and when/if they get to own one they will fully understand it.

I've been followed, asked to race pretty much every time I go out, have cars speeding around or behind trying to keep up to demonstrate their cars are faster, people hanging out of moving cars taking photos or videos,I had people sitting on, leaning on, touching, jumping in, laying flat on the hood at traffic lights, waiting outside my house, following me home, the most unpleasant thing ever happened, while waiting at he lights some low life for absolutely no reason spat on the car calling me a rich c**t then took off laughing with his buddy.

You have to plan your trips, you can't park it anywhere feeling comfortable with where you left the car, no public places where most of the above can happen. The car attracts unnecessary unwanted attention to yourself from pretty much everyone.I prefer not to tell anyone what I own and what I don't, the times when you are proud of your own achievements are long gone, replaced by jealous people who seek "equality" in everything, if you poke your head a touch higher it has to be slashed.

    It's a complete circus!

I bought the car for my own enjoyment but I don't get to have fun in it, I have very few opportunities to take the car out without encountering some of the above, combine that with my general lack of spare time and when I do have spare time I spend it with my family, I haven't touched the car in more than 3 months and it's a real shame.

That's one of the reason GIRO was a massive hit, the public was EXTREMELY respectful and the cars were always guarded and monitored, you felt comfortable enjoying them with everyone else around you. It should be like that all the time, not your property look at it, ask for permission and if granted proceed to sit inside, touch, etc.

I sold my Murci last summer and I swore it would be the last exotic I would own.

You have perfectly exemplified the "why" behind it.

After years of ownership, the dream, the achievement, the freedom, and everything positive that these cars represented for me has become tarnished; destroyed by a society overrun with disrespectful morons, douche-bags, and haters who have been brainwashed to believe that they are poor because of someone elses' success.

I used to *love* driving these cars but after about 5 years, things started to change.

    Every fucktard wants to race.

I've been paced and rev-runned for miles.

My gym has a parking lot the size of a football field; I've parked the car in the back, the farthest from the entrance and still some retard finds it necessary to park right next to me, not only next to me, but literally 6 inches from me where Lambo doors are a requirement just to get into the car!

I've had people follow me home (One time a carload of *thugs* straight from the hood in a rusty Caprice tried to follow me through the gate of my community)

I've had people in oncoming traffic hurl spit balls and throw empty soda cans into my roadsters' cockpit while driving.

I've had teenage idiots lean on the car to take photos, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. (Ya know, the cool kid with the studded jeans and chains hanging from his belt)

I've had a cigarette put out on the hood of the car, it left a permanent scar ...

I've had my driver side window smashed while on a nice peaceful roadtrip to Vegas -- someone smashed it while I took a 5 minute pit stop to get some snacks.

The snarky comments, and of course, the tailgating.

As an owner, I started modifying my behavior. No more rides at dark. I stopped taking the car out on Friday and Saturday nights. I stopped valeting when the photos fests became a moron magnet. I quickly learned as well that the car shows were complete fcuk fests. I stopped going. Suddenly, my driving excursions were reserved to early mornings.

Ultimately, my driving sessions became a painful reminder of how much things have changed. Instead of being inspirited by driving, it become disheartening. It was something I wanted to ignore, but found it increasingly difficult.

During the spring, we must have had weeks of sunny, 78 degree weather -- perfect Murci Roadster whether. During this time, I don't think I drove the car once.

That's when I knew it was time to sell and that something might have irrevocably changed for me.

  6. That car is $220 Retail, RETAIL RETAIL!!!!!!!!

As their name implies "driving emotions", it would seem they're hoping someone will forgo logic and intelligence and buy on "emotions" and pay a premium price. Seems to be their business model, hence the name. I'm sure there are plenty of emotional buyers out there who would look at the car and say "I gotta have it" regardless of price.

And yes, absolutely FN gorgeous car ... both the blue and the red.

  7. A real great documentary to watch is Vietnam in HD -- I think it is 5 hours long and takes you through the entire war, nearly battle by battle. It is also narrated by "Dexter" ( Michael C Hall) so the deathly feel is even worse than it already is. It was really an eye-opening look into a time when I was just a year or so old.

  8. Its actually false...

First of all, Ive never seen any evidence that HOLMES was "scheduled" to testify on LIBOR or that any hearings have ever been scheduled on it...

Ah, that's the *fact* that I figured would be false (or manufactured) to make it look like some of conspiracy. Why on earth would people make stuff up and invent facts to create their own story over such a tragedy is beyond me. :(

  9. Any mathematicians in the house? I'd like to know what the statistical probability of this being a coincidence.

    http://www.examiner.com/article/libor-scan...were-to-testify

Sounds like something to end up at Snopes with unsubstantiated references but I didn't see it there - perhaps the "scheduled to testify" thing is manufactured.

The father of Newtown Connecticut school shooter Adam Lanza is Peter Lanza who is a VP and Tax Director at GE Financial. The father of Aurora Colorado movie theater shooter James Holmes is Robert Holmes, the lead scientist for the credit score company FICO. Both men were to testify before the US Sentate in the ongoing LIBOR scandal. The London Interbank Offered Rate, known as Libor, is the average interest rate at which banks can borrow from each other. 16 international banks have been implicated in this ongoing scandal, accused of rigging contracts worth trillions of dollars. HSBC has already been fined $1.9 billion and three of their low level traders arrested.
  10. If you subtract the profession from this story what do you have? A non-story. I am not sure why the profession should add much value to the story.

It probably validates his thought-process for making the drive ... "Shit, I survived 2 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and a special ops mission to Somalia ... a drive thru Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua oughta be a piece of cake!"

  11. So I need some advice. I have sold a pretty expensive bike on eBay. The guy wants to pay with PayPal for two reasons; one he gets some 6 month financing deal with a thing called pay me later and two he wants some "buyer protection" offered through PayPal. I told him I would not accept it. This is a pain in the ass. He can't afford to stroke the check, even though I am going to FL next week and offered just to bring it with me, and he wants to have the ability to ring up PayPal if there is a problem and dispute. I am ready to say fcuk that noise, I am not down with flushing 5k if he decides to just call PayPal at will and dispute the charge. Thoughts???

For anything worth > $100? Not even on a cold day in hell.

"PayPal" is to transactions, as "herpes" is to casual sex...

  12. FAP = Fair Access Policy which means a monthly quota on GB uploads/downloads. Once you exceed the FAP, your connection is reduced to worse-than-dial-up speed. 20 GB a month is a typical allotment - I go through that in a day, maybe two.

I've looked into mobile broadband via Verizon 4G but that shows unavailable for this particular location as you need a cell tower nearby. This house is kinda tuck into a mountainside -- on the other side of the mountain is civilization, on the view side, nothing but desert. The thing about EVDO or other mobile broadband is that it is still relatively slow -- I'm used to 50mbps type speed, EVDO would reduce that to perhaps 1-2mbps, a frightening 90% reduction.

Never heard of microwave broadband as I need to investigate that as well as laying an actual cable. (Probably will need to be a mile long. :o )

  13. I was wondering if anyone has satellite internet for their internet connectivity.

I have an accepted contract on a mountainside home and there are no inbound cables to the house. It seems the only option for internet is satellite.

Upon further research into that medium, I've uncovered nothing but horror stories; latency, FAP issues, bad service, etc.

I'm a heavy internet user and I'd mow through their 30 day bandwidth limits in about 12 hours.

Does anyone have experience with satellite internet? Or, if you live in a rural area, what do you use for connectivity?

Any ideas / opinions would be helpful -- I'm about to cancel the contract due this issue as I cannot regress to 1999 type connectivity!! :(

  14. Does anyone know if such bumperstickers are illegal in some states?

I could see police using this as an opportunity to pull people over and cite them for violating some statute (public nuisance, etc.) Heck, I could even see some Prius owner calling the police because "I am offended" (which apparently now is a misdemeanor violation in this country.)

    Anyone have any idea?

  15. Based on 4XCHAMP's MY06 went for close to that with only 6500 miles I think there is more room in price. That car been on market long , wonder why? I forgot MJ's (Phoenixdiablo) MY06 with less miles went for close in price as well.

My car had 24K miles and was an 06. I won't say the exact price it went for but it was in the mid 140's -- it also was on the original clutch. I don't think this car is that far off, especially with a new clutch.

  16. I've owned a GTS and an SRT-10 and I was really excited about the unveil, even tuned in and watched it live. I considered myself to be a potential buyer as I've always had a particular love for Vipers.

To quote Allan, this was a total disappointment. This looks like the car that should have supplanted the GTS back in 2003, except now we get it a decade later. To me, the car looks 10 years old and like a GTS that's been body kitted. The front-facing profile is uninspiring and flaccid. I don't understand how some car design guys can get in a room and have total freedom to design and develop something from scratch, and instead of starting with a blank slate, they take something that looks no better than a model year upgrade from that last year GTS.
