  1. I had a C43 AMG for a couple of years. Outstanding car. The motor was hand built and had 3 valves and 2 spark plugs per cylinder, It was a v8. Its torque curve was great. I raced my buddy in a manual E36 M3 and the C43 was clearly faster. I will try to scan some pics and post them.

  2. Talking to the wife yesterday and we decided the typical point and shoot camera just isn't doing it for us. For certain family events or moments we would like some better photos. I am looking for a nice digital SLR that is somewhat easy to use. My wife doesn't want to site all week reading the damn manual. I think 10mp is more than enough. We are just looking for pictures a little better than your standard point and shoot can provide. My budget is under $1000 for camera and flash.

  3. I was in high school when Clinton visited our school ( I shook his hand). 2 weeks before the president showed up secret service and dogs roamed the hall ways every day. Looking and searching any suspect lockers. The day before Clinton arrived some kid in high school made a stupid remark about the president ( I will not repeat it but was not good ). Secret service interviewed him and put him in custody the whole day Clinton was in town.

I guess this kid will have this situation on his file for the rest of his life and any time in the future if the president ( any president ) is in the same town that he is in, he will be escorted out of the town for the day or put in custody.

I remember in the parking lot seeing over 20 solid black suburbans. It was impressive to say the least. Monaco, please give us more info.

  4. Are you measuring at 68 deg F ? The differences you are mentioning are about 6 times smaller than the human hair. It is very possible the part swelled over time. The crank is ground after heat treatment. I am sure they temper it several times and stress relieve it but residual stresses still exist and slowly effect size after a couple years. Cryogenic treatment really helps but was not a common practice when your crank was made.

Super critical parts that are cast are left outside for up to a year. The casting is allowed to get cold, hot, rained on and snowed on. This helps season and slowly relieve stresses in the casting. After a year it is sandblasted and x-rayed for cracks. Then I machine and ship for assembly. Metal can do some very funny stuff. I once had a improperly heat treated block of steel in my hand crack in front of my eyes. Little metal chips got stuck in my arm.

  5. I have an 02' 745. Sure the first 2 years I needed to go to the dealer maybe 10 times total. Mainly stupid software glitches. Right now I still have the same car and the past year the car has been bulletproof. The entire time I had the car it has never left me stranded, thats the key!!

BMW is great with their service and it is very good of them to give such a great extended service warrantee to keep resale up. Once the new model comes out ( 2009 or 2010) I will surely upgrade.

  6. Can I get a little high school on the active steering ?? What does it do ?? I had a 2002 M3 with SMG trans. I traded it in for the 360 modeno ( which I sold 5 months ago). I wish I still had the M3. Very fun car. The car chirped 3rd gear. It shifts faster than the Gallardo for sure. Plus I loved the Tach. It showed the reduced redline when it is cold and lite up red when you reached redline. I really enjoyed the car.

  7. I just sold my 360, it was a 99 6-speed. Fun car but huge maintenance costs. The prices you quoted are hugely underestimated. Figure on $4000-$6000 a year just to keep the car up to Factory spec. If you don't good luck trying to sell it. I had a hard time selling mine. Everyone wanted their own PPI on the car. Everyone wanted to look at the main. records, blah, blah, blah. Plus I don't like the dealers. The act like their s--it doesn't stink.
