  1. I am super luck nothing else happened. It was a full-sized buck with a full set of antlers and there was NO other damage. There was a tuft of fur under my passenger door handle, but other than that (and the mirror) nothing else.

You're right... it could have been a LOT worse. Had I been a little slower I would have hit him full on. Of course, with this logic, had I been driving even faster, I would have missed him all together!!

so..... the lesson learned from this experience is.... always drive faster :headbang:

  2. Thanks!

I would like to get another experienced car detailer also.

I can get you in touch with the guy that i have maintain our cars, he does the most unbelievabel things to paint i have ever seen. he wouldnt relocate there but would make the trip on a frequesnt basis i am sure if you got enough cars together at once to make it worth it (and i dont think you would have an issue getting cars together haha)

shoot me an email if you want the contact info.

  3. Well find out damn it!!! haha. Who do we need to talk to?

the boss is in vegas for sema. Sorry peeps. I do know not all of our cars are registered there so maybe there is a limit or something.

    ::WARNING::

I the above is all speculation!

  4. Larini will make you a set in a few days if you send them the originals to copy.

A guy i know just did it with his enzo, same setup cats are part of the headers, i was considering doing the same if i keep my 560, think the US cars may be different to EU ones though so not sure if you could use the same pattern to make as set.

I can make you a set as well. Anyone can take a stock header, trace it with a roamer arm, make a CAD file and knock out another header, but without proper R&D and adequate dyno time as well as special tooling I think throwing headers on the car would be foolish, not to mention there are tube bending limitations.

Taking the headers off the 560 is a PITA, which would make dyno testing a PITA not to mention an extremely lengthy process. I am not as technical as some, but check out Swils thread where BMWracer explained who you shouldnt throw headers on a car like a gallardo or CGT like it is a honda civic.

    cliffnotes:

    - send me stock headers and i can make you replacements

    - they may not make power

    - without r&d and dyno time its a shot in the dark

  5. Dave, are you guys working on cat delete pipes for the LP560 and LP570 yet?

the cats on the 560-570 are on the headers IIRC which are a serious nightmare to R&R. we make a pretty sweet exhaust for it though, just ask mike :eusa_dance:

    ::edit::

Here are the cats on the 560:

  6. sounds good guys, I have an LP560 coming in for fitment, now I just need to either confirm the 560 is the same as the older models or get an older car in as well. We should be starting R&D the beginning of november and I hope to have the prototypes done by the end of november!

  7. Hello community!

I am in need of an e-gear gallardo to use for a few days at our facility in Ambler PA. I will need the car for 3-4 days to do the initial development and then another couple of days once the products are completed.

The item in question is extended e-gear paddles that I was discussing in another thread. I am going to design them after the super trofeo race car paddles pictured below. I have no idea what the cost will be at this point BUT the individual who lets me use their car for the development will receive a set of the extended paddles at no cost!

here are the standard e-gear paddles you guys have:

The Super Trofeo race car I would like to duplicate for you guys!

In addition to the free paddles my detailer offered to come by and do a basic detail for whoever helps me out. The detailers name is Nick Oakes and he is the guy who maintains all of our shop cars, the owner of fabspeeds personal cars as well as my personal cars. He is very familiar with exotics and does amazing things to the finish of cars (if you do not want the detail you can opt out, I thought it would be a nice gesture to offer, however I know how some people are about other people detailing their cars!)

  8. YES PLEASE!!!!! I hate missing shifts because the dinky lever. I am in as long as they aren't ridiculous expensive.

I contacted Reiter Engineering and got a response or two but that line went dead.

Group buy for the first round!!

I am good with metal or carbon...think I would prefer some silver metal pieces like the egear plate.

group buy may be possible if I can get enough people on here and the other forums interested. I need to get an e-gear car in here as well. Our shop car is a 3 pedal car.

  9. Hey guys and ::carol:: :P

I am talking to my engineers here about manufacturing a part for the e-gear gallardo cars that I think you would all LOVE. Nothing is set in stone yet, and I can not guarantee anything will come of this but would you guys have any interest in "super trofeo style e-gear paddles"?

    ::edit::

so here is what I am thinking...

here are the standard e-gear paddles you guys have:

    back from the dead!

i have entire stock shifter assembleys coming in this week for gallardo, murcielago and paddles for the LP cars! Here is what i am thinking... i will have my guys knock out a few sets in aluminum in house. I'll bring a few local cars in, install the paddles and let the owners drive for a few days to give me some feedback. anyone local who brings their cars in will get some SERIOUS discounts and a high-five from me personally :eusa_dance:

  10. David -

Can you ask Nick Oakes how he gets rid of that orange peel so well? Would you use a polish (Megs 105/205 and orange pad or white pad?) like you would for swirls, or do you need to use a wool pad and something more aggressive?

    Nick said:

"To get the results that I achieved on the M5, the paint was fully prepped as it would have been normally for a "Standard" paint correction:

    - Full citrus degrease Foam down

    - wash

    - rinse

    - Clay the entire vehicle

    - rewashIronX

    - let settle for up to 5 minutes

    - rewash with the ironx still on the vehicle

    - Full rinse

    - MF dry

    - air out the seams/edges and so forth

    - fully wipe down with Isopropyl Alcohol

After all the edges/seams were masked off, the paint readings were measured and inspected. Test panel was done with 2000 grit to see the results, undesirable. Moved to 1500 which was much more effective but some areas of the car needed to be done in 1000 grit sand paper and then followed up with 1500, 2500 and 3000 grits. Then compounded using M95 to really get the sanding marks leveled and removed, followed with M105 and PFW, then IPAd, followed with M205 and orange, IPA'd again, finished with Menz106FA on Black.

Rewashed, IPA'd again and then the ceramic coating was applied in consistent temperatures around 70 degrees under heatlamps.

Its a very aggressive and involved process, that should only be done by experienced professionals. This is definitely a process that can severely damage the vehicle if not done properly. To remove swirling and surface defects, the sanding should not be necessary depending on the severity of the damage. However, to remove orange peel, buffing alone will simply not do the trick depending on how soft/hard the paint it. With factory paint from Lamborghini/BMW/Mercedes/Aston Martin/BMW/Bentley and similar...standard polishing wont do the trick. .

  11. Amazing work. I wonder how much of the clearcoat is gone after a treatment like that.

I passed your question along, as I was curious as well. Here is his reply:

"only a 10 micron difference on a car reading an average micron depth of 350"

  12. IF you're looking for bang for the buck detailer, the guys at Whitakers are really good.

If you're looking for ultra high-end detailing, I haven't found any mobile detailers worth a flip. I've tried. I'll give Jaysfolly's recommendations a try

the guy that does our cars, a friend of mine does things to paint that are just incredible. His name is Nick Oakes of Oakes Detailing. His prices are reasonable, however he is in Philly area (I am sure if you guys got a few TX cars together he may make the trip out). The paint corrections he does leave people speechless, I cant think of any other way to put it haha.

here is an IB M5 that had NASTY orange peel:

  13. If you haven't tried the new Cayenne Turbo I suggest you do, it is an awesome SUV, best out there if you'd ask me. Rides and handles very well, it's very fast and it's a lot better looking than a Panamera.

I didn't suggest this before because I was under the impression a Cayenne was out of the question.

thats a 120-130k+ truck, well above the cost of the other cars he was looking at.
