  1. Today I didn't get too much done. I have very little time these days because of work. It's keeping me very busy, but I got something done today and saved myself a bundle. Doing a little is better than nothing at all!

I must have lost my heat shield for my passenger side axle that covers the rubber boot from the headers. It must have fallen off. I looked up the part # and Lamborghini wanted over $350 for the simple heat shield. Now I am a distrubutor of Lamborghini parts and can get great pricing for myself or anyone on here, but even at my cost it was still too much for me to eat. So I decided to make my own part.

Here is the diagram of the part in question. It's part number#8

I took the original heat shield and made a copy of it. I used the original as a mold.

I put wax paper on it so that way it would release the part I am making.

Here is the fiberglass resin I just mixed in the bowl.

Fiberglass matting I am going to use.

Cutting small squares to layer on the mold.

Putting a layer of fiberglass on the original part.

    First layer on.

    Putting on multiple layers

    Five total layers

Put another layer of wax paper on top to press out all the air bubbles and air pockets. Then I let it cure for a few hours.

After it cured, I peeled off the wax paper.

here is the finished product after it cured. I took the original shield and traced it on the new piece.

I then cut it with my air saw.

After I cut out the piece. Now it's starting to look like a heat shield.

    Nice and thick!

Here it is after I painted it with 1200 degree paint. I need to drill it and put the bracket on it. Then it's done! Didn't come out too bad for my first time. More to come later. I want to get this car back on the road before the end of July. I will be getting my pinion gear lashed this week. After that is done, it will be going back together pretty quickly.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

I'm not all that familiar with exactly how hot it gets around where that heat sheild is placed, but fibreglass resign will burn and is very hard to put out.

  2. There is a part 1 to that vid, with the driver drifting around the same corner the other way with full control. I think that is an Italian race track (i forget the name) and the driver is the Lambo test driver Mario Fasanetto done for publicity photos when the 6.0 was new. From what it looks he stopped on purpose.

  3. The GT is s little bit heavier, but a lot easier to drive. And the Jota actually have more torque than the GT, at a lower RPM.

(Mainly) because of the race cam, the Jota is very difficult to drive and set right. I would say any experienced (Lambo) driver would probably either cut off the engine, make the car jump like hell or spin out the first times driving a Jota, if they weren't instructed how the engine behaves. Even if you know how to drive the car, either of the three can occationally happen because the engine is so "nervous" and acts like the beast it is :icon_mrgreen:

fcuk i need a Diablo JOTA!!! pure 666 evil

  4. I WILL HAVE TO GET RID OF ONE OF MY DIABLO'S NOW I CAN'T KEEP THEM ALL I CURRENTLT HAVE AN SE30, 99SV, 6.0, ROADSTER,VT, THESE ARE MY DIABLOS ONLY BUT I THINK THIS NEW ELY BLUE ONE IS A KEEPER WHERE DO I GET MORE INFO ON THESE CARS BESIDES LAMBORGHINI REGISTRY THERE IS NOT TO MUCH THERE? THANKS

you have more Diablos than I have Diablo models! :thebirdman: :lol2: :lol2:

    oh, a dealer

  5. 98+ SV's+Vt's have the 530hp Variable valve timing motors. There was no 510Hp motor in the U.S , this was on the Euro 96-97 SV's without Variable valve timing.

What we do know now, is that Lambo was pretty much full of crap on the Diablo motor specs. I know for fact that early Diablos, and the variable valve timing motors, make exactly the same amount of power on the dyno. no more than 5hp seperates them. The Diablo SV also does not weigh 3300lbs like stated for the U.S. market, as it weighs over 3600lbs AFTER the exhaust change. The Diablo 6.0's make slightly more power, approx 30rwhp over a stock 91-99 Diablo, not enough to make up the 400lb weight difference between it, and a 91.

    :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Italians, gota love em! does the variable valve timing do anything at all? surely it beefs up the torque down low or something??

  6. I have posted twice over the years on this board, requesting information about the unusual 96 2wd Diablo series. I know that Symbolic, has or had a dark blue 96 D car forsale.

Nobody seems to know the story behind these rare factory 2wd cars. From what I had read, the 96 2wd was offered forsale, as a less expensive alternative to the VT, before the SV was released. I also read that the 2wd "slick" post 93 Diablo, was offered as late as 1998, in other RoW markets.

There are some mechanical changes with the car. The 94 dash, is the most obvious cosmetic change, when comparing the car to the 2wd 91-93 series. I do know that Lamborghini USA, has a thin seperate shop manual, devoted just for the 96 series 2wd cars.

This car is also very special, on account of the hot silver exterior color. I hope the car is sold to an enthusiast. Bill is a fun guy to talk with, when negotiating a deal. No need to tell him stories, how you do not like the color, and that you really want a yellow 95VT. He cuts thru the b.s. immediately. :icon_thumleft:

I remember reading somewhere a while ago now that the 2wd was offered right up to the MY99 and are rare because the SV was available as well, so most people wanting a 2wd went for the SV. Other upgrades are the bigger side air scoops, brembo brakes, revised front bar and engine bay like the VT. Also that the VTs and normal Diablos after a certain date have the same 510hp engine as the SV.

  7. hi guys , i have the oppotunity to pick up a 99 SV . can the following 00 VT bits fit on a SV ?

    VT rims

    VT front bar

thanks and sorry if the question has been asked already , SV is yellow BTW .

VT's are so rare in australia that sometimes you have to take a different option to what you want . i am not a fan of altering a car at all to look like something else , but a few changes to a SV might not hurt

Yellow 99 SV!! Beautiful, Can't be many of those in oz. very late model factory 2wd Lamborghini, HOT! Please whatever you do, make sure you can return to stock if needed. There are pics somewhere of a 99 roadster that has 6.0 wheels and front bar (lookalike?) and it looks like a 6.0 roadster! yours will look like a 6.0 SV!! goodluck with the purchase.

  8. That doesnt seem to be the case, not to mention the reason for selling is quite odd. I spoke to them, and they said they just bought the car 6 months ago, but baby faces sale? 6 months ago you didnt know a baby was coming? Then they said, at their regular home, they only have room to park one car? :eusa_think:

Maybe the wife is realy realy fat?? :eusa_dance:
