So.  I’ve had to keep a low profile.    Some of you know I took a fairly high profile job on the Board of Directors of a real estate investment trust.

In the course of my job I was first appointed to the merger committee    Then the IPO committee  last year I was re-elected to the board with more votes than any other director-including the CEO- by a factor of several thousand votes.    Finally I was appointed to the Audit and compensation committees   The two most important and legally required subcommittees on any board

Some of you who know me may see articles about me leaving the company and the companies response to my (very public) resignation .  I suspect more articles are coming.    It was not an amicable departure and I did what I thought was best for my shareholders given the circumstances which were untenable.

I know many of you reached out and got no response but there was a moment earlier this year where I felt like Tom Cruise in The Firm   And the analogy is fairly similar   I needed to disappear and Lp was the first place people might look    I’m sorry I worried you

Anyways.  I’m glad to be free from the intense stress of what I e been dealing.  Am considering what I’ll do next for business (if anybody needs a Very experienced board director with unique sarbanes oxley audit committee experience- I’m available!!!) and getting back to my new life   And    You fuckers

Glad you're in good health and that you're doing ok. I def get the need for a break with a large transition happening, and we all know you'll land on your feet and re-conquer the world. Great to have you back :icon_super:

I somewhat agree with Supercar Ace.  The way this debacle unfolded on this forum appeared to be quite a personal attack.  I'm sure Supercar Ace will long regret his decision for this gofundme project.  But that's his choice and he ultimately has to deal with it.  I don't necessarily agree with why it has to be brought up, discussed and dragged out publicly here on this forum.  We all fcuk up in life sometimes.  Lets just give him a break and get back to discussing our passion for Lamborghini.

I can't help but ask myself where this idea came from.

Lamborghini is a hobby of mine, I only own books and scale cars ... and I can't even afford the more expensive MR ones I would love to add, and I surely have no way of affording a real Lamborghini any time soon.

I created lambocars.com as a hobby many years ago, to share my passion for these cars, I put together the configurator because I made all those different looks in PhotoShop and imagined it would be fun for people to be able to do that online, so I programmed my own configurator ... I created every single graphics item myself and wrote every line of code myself ... no employees, and surely no profit website ... in fact, I had to upgrade my shared hosting to a VPS two years ago because I was stressing the server ... the difference in costs between shared hosting and VPS is massive for me, sorry.

Thank you for your service and let us know what we can do to help you get out to car week.

Just be careful if you use gofundme :lol2::lol2::lol2:

I agree with some of what you posted, commend you for taking ownership and tone of your responses, however disagree with the part above. You posted your own name and own request for money for your own trip, on a public website. Your tune would be very different if tens of thousands of dollars were pouring in. Passing around a link to a public website designed to attract attention (that's the point of crowdfunding is it not?) is not tantamount to publishing private information otherwise unavailable.

Thank you, though I respectfully disagree. I posted my own name on another site, but I did not say "by the way, my handle on LP is..." nor did I post the link to this site myself, voluntarily exposing my on identity here. A moderator posted and exposed the identity of a member without their consent and with the intent of attacking another member. My handle on here is not my actual name for a reason, nor do I post my LP handle with my name publicly, so it doesn't matter if I made $1 or $1 million, personal identifying information was used to expose the actual identity of a forum member, and that crosses a big line. If we're allowed to just dox people left and right, where does it end?

Now, if I was to post the full name, location and a picture of Captain on here (because that stuff is publicly available and is the exact information of mine that was posted) would that be cool? It's public links right?

Fear not, I have no intent to nor would I ever want to, and even after all of this I have no ill will against Captain, holding grudges is a waste of energy and does nothing productive for me. If I did have ill will, in my responses I would have brought out the heavy guns in personal attacks, but I never personally attacked him. I think his actions crossed the line, but I'm not trying to personally attack him nor am I wishing any ill will upon him. Trying to tear someone else down does absolutely nothing to build me up.

I'm away for 2 weeks and the site goes totally offline...I'm back for 2 weeks and apparently I burn it down :lol2::lol2::lol2:

Thanks for your post, as I said I have nothing against you, but that action just stunned me and that’s why I mentioned it, I appreciate the fact that you realized that was a big mistake and you are working your way away from it, I also know that you understand and appreciate where I am coming from and I hope you know that whatever I said wasn’t done maliciously, I also think that you know and appreciate that most of it isn’t about LamboCars’s renders and that it goes a bit deeper than that, having said that at the end of the day you don’t owe me or anyone else an explanation for your actions, I am just a stranger to you and so are many here.

As for your business endeavors, coming from less than nothing myself I appreciate and admire the effort, hard work and determination , everything you’ve briefly explained in your posts above (I know there is a lot more to it) to me sounds very complicated and convoluted, that’s why I am saying you are chasing unicorns, business is very very simple in essence, the basics of doing a successful deal have not changed, trim all the nonsense and if you work hard enough you will eventually get there but if you keep on chasing to good to be true convoluted transactions you are doing nothing but gambling and that’s not the basis of a sustainable business, yes you might get lucky but what if you never will before you run out of money and/or enthusiasm? You need to build a solid base and start with that.

I tell you what, next time you want to do a deal PM and I will help you negotiate it or at least let you know if it’s a time wasting exercise or not.

If anything I'm more upset with myself for being baited, despite having a bad day with some not so fun family news and mentor of mine getting some very bad news about one of his kids. I came on the boards to unwind a bit and saw someone trying to instigate, and I wasn't in any mood to deal with it. That's certainly no excuse and I certainly overreacted but I still never personally insulted the guy in my overreaction. What doesn't sit well with me is having someone, especially a moderator, publicly expose someone's full identity and personal business on the boards. I think that crosses a very serious line. Fortunately I'm an open person, I am ok with my personal business being out there, that's even why I left that post up and didn't try to delete it or hide it. I know this mod's real identity offline and would never publicly post his full identity or his personal business here or anywhere for that matter. I still hold no ill will against any one, to me it's a waste of time an energy.

As for business, when you're pissed off and talking about it on a forum, specifically about your failures, it's never going to come out right :lol2: I'm always game to learn so I'll certainly PM you and pick your brain.

I think it’s pretty poor to deliberately mislead people, even on the internet in such a small helpful community, I certainly see ace in a different light now, it’s not bad luck and business decisions, it’s deliberately giving the impression of yourself that is untrue or at least how it appears to me now.  Crowdfunding a holiday as charity unless you are really in need also sits pretty low with me.

I heard 1963 total to coincide with the year Lambo started.

That would actually be a really cool homage to the company's beginnings. I like that they are doing a lot more things to celebrate the company's history and heritage. So if that's 963 coupes, that would leave 1,000 cars left to be roadsters, 63 roadsters and demo cars.

I think everyone here is being plenty respectful... Ace would have taken a lot more heat on other boards / Instagram.

With all due respect if you want to play pretend lambo owner do it on your own time.  LamboCARS is giving his time and efforts away for free and hasn't asked for anything in return (as far as I know).  Real heroes don't ware capes (or masquerade around above their financial weight class for that matter).

I have said what I need to on this thread about that side subject and as mentioned earlier anyone that wants further dive into this side topic they can reach me directly, my door is open. Shoot me a PM, leave me a visitor message or reach out to me in any other way.

The purpose of this thread is to talk about the most badass car Lambo's made to date, the Aventador SV Jota and with respect to the forum, we should all stay on that topic in this thread.

I derailed this thread so I'm putting it back on track. That's the last I'll say on this thread about this side subject matter.

Supercar Ace, I always thought you are a very cool guy but today somebody on the board sent me a gofundme link to a page where you ask people to fund your overseas European holiday WTF??, My jaw hit the floor, I know it’s none of my business but damn that’s beyond my level of comprehension. I was literally speechless.

Anyway, I wish you all the best with your endeavors, reading your post above,  just remember there rarely are any shortcuts in business life or instant gratification, it’s always about the basics, always! You seem to be looking for a unicorn.

BTW this isn’t an attack but I would be lying if I said that I was not extremely disappointed to learn about your gofundme attempt. If I were you I’d donate that money to a charity.

I''m 99% sure I know who that "somebody" is that sent link out and it's totally fine, I have nothing to hide, especially since I made that post public.

    Quote

"The other project which is focused on crowd-sourcing has produced a lot of movement, but no traction yet, which is frustrating."

This was part of a larger personal branding test. My holiday was already paid for, and I haven't spent a dime that was donated nor did I ever have any plans to. I won't go into the full reasons for what I was working on or for the very bad advice I took on this because no one cares and at the end of the day the buck ends with me. This particular experiment was never about the money itself, but it resulted in a colossal failure, drew a lot of negative feedback and is one of those decisions that costs you something a lot more valuable than money. But intent means nothing, it's all about results, be they good or bad.

I'm all too aware that there are no short cuts in business or in life, and the for a lot of stuff listed above there are much longer back stories. Those cliff notes are just the summary of things that had been in the works for years. There are no unicorns. Every deal put together and every project launched all had hours upon hours of hard work, sweat, sleepless nights and a lot of time in preparation behind them. It was years of work, networking, and delivering value that led to the potential fruition of opportunities, and when those opportunities arise you have to take them and give it what you've got. Nothing worthwhile comes overnight or comes instantly. But a fact of life is sometimes despite all your work and effort, you still fail. There are no guarantees.

As you know, I have the highest amount of respect for you and a high amount of respect for the members of this board and the gofundme experiment has cost me a lot more than any of you will ever know. I don't have any regrets in life, but this is certainly one of those bullets that can never be un-fired, so I own it and deal with the consequences. You have to own your choices in life, especially when they turn out to be really bad choices, but that's also why I like this community, for the most part everyone owns their shit and they don't let other people's shit slide. My number got called up today and it is what it is. I won't defend my decision or justify it: I made a choice, it turned out to be a bad one, so I am responsible for it.

I've had some nice wins and have had some big losses in life, but the one thing I've learned is that no amount of money gained or lost compares to any amount respect lost by those that you respect. I do sincerely hope this hasn't caused irreparable damage and that I will not be judged solely on this action. This board has always been a sacred space for me but you can never out run your sins.

If you, or anyone wants to talk offline, my door is open.

See, I am reading your meandering post Ace, all the the time I am thinking this stuff you wrote on gofundme.

Those poor saps that actually donated.

I cannot understand why you keep asking Poor Lambocars to put together renders for you free of charge and for what purpose.

It really is disappointing and questionable behaviour at best.

Those are actually close friends that know me very well and 3 of the 4 donations were made after offline conversations.

On my list of things that looking back I'm not proud of, this is pretty high on there, especially given that this bad decision is something I'll be judged on for a long time to come.

In the grand scheme it's not the worst choice I've ever made, but it's most certainly the most recent worst choice I've made.

But as I said I have nothing to hide. It was a bad choice and I own it.

Ace, how did the deals go?  I mean you are asking lambocars to do all of these renders.  The deal must be really really close right?

I mean it would be horrible to waste Lambocar's time with renders, you want to be closing those deals.

    Let's see, some cliff notes:

    2014:

2013 was a great year and came into 2014 strong. Working on an big energy project investment with many green lights. Lots of upside and my primary business is doing good.

    2015:

Energy project gets blocked by local government, spent some cash trying to work around it, which was all for nothing and money was lost. Not the end of the world, but a very noticeable chunk of change was lost. Primary business has a bit of a slow year, which doesn't help. Launch another business which winds up gaining some good traction and is a nice income stream.

    2016:

Brokered 2 CRE deals and 2 Tech company deals, while launching a tech project. Each deal was worth a substantial payday. Both CRE deals get stalled out, on one the seller decides to hold after a last minute change of heart by the board, and the 2nd they wind up doing the sale with a buyer different from mine after it down between my bid and another bid that the seller had a personal connection with. 1 of the tech deals goes south after a legal case springs up with the company stalling everything out, the other tech deal gets torpedoed when the one co-founder pulls out of the company and takes his funding, dissolving the company. The other tech project never gains traction. The deals cost me a lot of time, the tech project cost me some cash.

The new business I was working on goes in 2015 flat after a major company comes out with a competing service, which cuts off an income stream. Primary business is at the same level as the prior year, so it hasn't grown, despite investments made to attempt to grow it.

    2017:

Had to spend some cash to put out the fires from the torpedoes. My primary business gets a bit of a boost and some smaller deals come together so the damage is almost equalized. Launched 2 smaller projects. Both never gain traction, so some money was lost.

    2018:

Took the play money and used it to launch 4 projects and did some crypto investing. Lost some money on crypto, made some money back, so I'm a little ahead of were I started presently and am holding to see what it does. 1 project has been steady, working on scaling it out. 1 project has proven to not be cost-effective time wise, so it's been shutdown. 1 project is 95% completed but behind schedule due to technical delays, so it can't be launched yet. Frustrating, but there's great upside. The other project which is focused on crowd-sourcing has produced a lot of movement, but no traction yet, which is frustrating.

Too Long; Didn't Read: I've lost a lot of money on entrepreneurial ventures and I've made some money. I haven't managed to hit that break out point again we're I'm really getting ahead and can justify all the toys I want. True frustration is getting within spitting distance of the finish line then being tripped up.

Any other entrepreneurial failures of mine we should discuss while I'm at it? I got plenty that date before 2014, including failing so hard I wound up homeless.

    1 hour ago, Assman said:

Couldn’t you just look at each specific render when you are ordering it at the dealer?

Lambocars is much quicker and more convenient. As stated before, the SVJ is out of my immediate price range (I buy in cash, I don't lease) so I won't waste my dealer's time. Lambocar's renders help me stay motivated.

I tried photoshopping just that front winglet in black on mine but it looks strange with the front lower intake being painted. Your idea for red in the middle is an option but it'll end up just being taped off lines on a piece of CF, not sure you could get it to look right.

Did anyone else notice that the front winglet seemed to be slightly off color on the green demo car? Wonder if it's because it's a different material than the rest of the bumper?

It is slightly different in color because it's a different material since it has to be a deformable bumper. However, LamboCars crushed it and rendered my ideal spec:

thank you, took me a while to get it right, but it works nicely now.

That will take some work, as the 'livery' is also coupled to that ... front bumper lower section, side sills and rear bumper are all linked together as seen on the SVJ63 ... but it can be done, sure. How urgent do you need that online? Or would you like me to do a custom render for you? In that case, PM me the specs and I will put it together for you, offline.

I"m tagging you here because I can't send new attachment via DM. I need your help rendering an SVJ roadster in Rosso Effesto, but with a few extra touches noted below. Everything else is fine as is. Thanks in advance!

I have to say that even though I wasn't a fan of 900 made, I get it. The car will be in high demand given what it is and the reviews that continue to come out on it will only increase it imo. Jonny Lieberman from Motor Trend was one of the few to drive it on public roads and said that it's one of the best cars he's ever driven - he was on The Smoking Tire podcast if you'd like to hear more.

The only way this ends up working long term to make Lambos hold their value more like Porsche / Ferrari is if the performance is there to back it up. With the Perf and the SVJ, I think we're finally starting to see that. As Lambo owners and enthusiasts, I think it's a huge win for all of us. I doubt there will even end up being 500 total here in the US - we're just a bit jaded here in SoCal as 90% of those 500 end up being our neighbors lol.

True on that last point. We also need to see Lambo's financial side...Do they make the car more limited (say 450 coupes) or do they double their profit margin because they can sell 900? 900 is still a very small number but in the collector car market Lambo makes $0, there only making money on the first sale, so they're going to go for as many as they can get away with on that first go. If SVJ values go up that's great and all, but if you're Lamborghini it doesn't matter if used SVJ's go for $1 mil+, they will not see a dime from that. So for them to make less might make some collectors happy, but it hurts their bottom line in the present. Let's not forget, old school Lambo's would have been made in larger numbers if they could have done it at the time, however they simply did not have the resources then to make it happen.

That being said can we take a moment to re-appreciate just how badass it is that Lamborghini has 3 cars in the top 10 on the Ring and holds the #1 spot as well?

6'6". The problem for taller guys is actually 2 fold with seats like that - 1 is that you can't sit slightly bow-legged as the sides hold your hips in too much. The second is that without being able to recline, my head actually touches the roof. In contrast, I had about 2" of headroom left in the comfort seat coupe with a significantly more comfortable driving position.

I love how we're the exact same height and have the exact same color preferences...Though I was able to manage the bucket seats with a smidge of space, you're right that the comfort seats make it far more driveable for us tall guys. With the Aventador you really can't go wrong in my opinion...each iteration has been great with minor tweaks and updates to make it better. That being said, I did some articles on my first drive in the S as well as thoughts after tracking it.

You can check them out here and here :icon_super:

To sum it up, the S feels more nimble than the previous Aventadors which is impressive.

Thank you everyone involved in this endeavor. I panicked a little the last time I tried accessing the forum, thanks for the updates. My only suggestion would be the black/gold theme if it's possible on the new platform. The white one is a bit heavy on the eyes.

I'm glad things are moving along!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

I also thing think keeping the Black/gold theme would be a great homage to the forum...and it does makes things easier on the eyes.

    Excellent work so far!
